Will Lewis win his maiden GP tomorrow?????

no Alonso will win, he would of had pole but screwed up big time around the final chicane.

well done to Lewis though.

ferrari are slow i hope they can improve to at least make the race interesting. at the moment BMW may well get the final place on the podium.

Great to see, I like this track as anything can happen at the final bend, did anyone see one of the BMW get out of shape and scrape the wall leaving some very dirty tyre marks?

Race is showing at 1 a.m here...

I wish him the best, but tbh, I think it's gonna be a really hard race for him..
Hope he will have a good start and a good strategy..

Ok, I accepted peoples arguments that Monaco is a terrible race to try and get into F1 in, so I'm watching today the Canadian GP..... lets hope for a decent race.

........ Kubica just had a major accident. Lets hope he's ok.

Holy ........ that doesn't look good. He hit a wall at high speed, rolled, met one of his tyres that came off, rolled again and into another wall.

That should be an automatic red flag for the race, it was a horrible crash.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Kubica's manager says he has spoken to the BMW Sauber and he appears to be fine
Wonderful, gotta love the BBC coverage. I'm glad the BMW Sauber appears to be fine

LEWIS DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<
<

He finally won his 1st GP!! The race was really strange, there were 4 SC situations, but eventhough it was a bit hectic, Lewis did a great job!! This was his 6th podium finish of the season, what a fantastic accomplishment from the young, talented Brit!!!!!
<
<

I was a bit scared for a moment when Kubica had his crash, it looked really dangerous, good to hear he's doing alright!!!!!

Also well done to Nick Heidfeld, Wurz, Heikki and Takuma Sato!!!!! Was great to see him overtake Alonso!! I knew Sato was gonna try it, well done to him!!
<

I felt a bit sorry for Massa, he could have had a podium finish. Now Lewis is leading the championship with 48 points!!!
<
<
Eight points more than FA, 15 more than Massa and 21 more than Kimi. Must be an amazing feeling to lead the championship after only 6 races (while being a rookie!!!!!). BTW, Quick Nick is only ONE point behind Raikkonen. He's really doing a great job this season. Wish I could say the same about Kimi. The Finn really has to step up his game if he wants to challenge for the title...

Can't wait for INDIANAPOLIS!!!!!!

As an F1 non-fan, can somebody explain something to me. This is how I see it:
1) A car crashes.
2) The safety car is deployed, as are yellow flags.
3) The F1 cars tyres cool down considerably.
4) Green flag racing resumes and as a result of the cool tyres, more cars crash leading to more SC situations.

How does this make sense? What is the Safety Car good for? Why aren't just yellow flags sufficient, stationary yellow where there's no danger meaning drive slowly, waved yellow where the accident site is meaning drive very slowly and carefully.

Kubica has a broken leg. hope he can recover and get back as soon as possible.

On a happier note:

well done Lewis! he would of won the race anyway even without the safety cars.

Alonso damaged the floor of his car in the turn 1 lap 1 off and that is why he had many more offs also, although i think Lewis would of won anyway. Alonso was unlucky as mclaren had to get a 10 second penalty or run out of fuel so he had no choice. without his problems and the incidents that happened he would of come 2nd but lewis would of won anyway!

bad day for Massa and Fizzy but they deserve it they went past the red light!

Well done to Heidfeld and i cant believe Wurz got a podium! I wish honda had put soft tyres on Rubens coz he would of had it then!

Looks like title will be between 2 mclarens at this rate!

F1 was pretty entertaining today - difficult to pick which of the 5 races (125,250,800, DTM, F1) today was best...probably not 250 or DTM (safety car was needed a few times there too - brands: keep it for bikes!!).

I think the Safety car being employed so much was down to the track - like if those accidents had happened at monaco the safety car would have been needed 4 times. (to answer Israeli - so keep watching...)

YAY lewis. Shame Heikki couldn't get 3rd - I have a sad feeling that at the end of the season he will look back and realise it was his chance for a podium today...we'll see.

For me Alonso really fecked up a weekend where he should have won. From the mistake in qualifying he really messed up the chance to lead the championship. I'm happy to say
<

Thank goodness Kubica was ok.

Thank goodness Kubica was ok.

Alonso damaged the floor of the car in the first lap off today which is why he was so bad plus the penalty taken to stop him running out of fuel. I dunno why you hate Alonso so much, as long as you hated Michael Schumacher even more than that though i dont mind!
<

Has Kubica broken his leg or not???

Lewis Hamilton's race engineer bloke said he had on the radio but the medical centre havent confirmed it and just said he had pain.

I hope he hasnt although i said in my post above he has after hearing the mclaren person.

He's lucky to get away with just that if that is the case.

wooooohooooo (in that Hayden style that annoy people here) for Sato!!!
<
<
I stated to wish he passes Kimi too!!!

That was so messy race, but first two days predicted it would be like that.
Poor Kubica (and lucky too), that was so ....... frightening!!

Well done Lewis, good race and he deserves it. But I can't hide disappointment because of that "monkeys" incident, so I'm just going to say: Good for him! instead of TOOT TOOT and any other drama.

Good race by Nick too, I'm so happy for him and Alex too (who would expect that).

What's going on with Kimi, I wish I could know?!?!

Antony all alone in pit stop

Has Kubica broken his leg or not???

I don't dislike Alsono as much as I did - now he is at mclaren. I respect his performance this season much more - and I've started to turn against Kimi.

Yes turn one mistake that was his fault! (re alonso damage excuse)
Though F1 site hints at disagreeing with you: "With the underside of his car almost certainly damaged from his various trips over the kerbs"

What a great move that was by Sato round the outside
<

I hated Schumacher more until the end - when Alonso came along
<
- then I wanted Schukrapper to go out on top!

I could write an essay about the race but for me it was all overshadowed by Kubica's crash. After that I wasn't too interested in the race itself, noone was really sure what his true condition was. They said he was 'stable', but they also said that after Kato's crash, so I was very nervous. Thank god he's ok, bloody miracle, even with the safety cells and HANS device.

Having looked at some pictures it looks like the front of the monocoque was ruptured and his feet were in the open after the impact. If thats really true and I'm not seeing things, its hard to believe he will race in Indy.

Well done to Hamilton, great performance, but I'm probably going to rewatch it, because my head just wasn't in it at the time after the crash.

I didn't notice until you said it, but those look like legs indeed.

But look at this:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Kubica's first question after accident: 'Can I race in Indianapolis?'

After surviving his violent crash yesterday, Poland's Robert Kubica asked whether he could start all over again. " 'Can I race in Indianapolis next Sunday?' That was his first question," Ronald Denis, head of trauma at Sacre Coeur Hospital in Montreal and at the Formula One site, said with a smile after a battery of tests showed the driver had few injuries and none of them serious. Kubica, 23, has a minor concussion and a sprained right ankle. So it's looking good for next Sunday's race, Denis said. "Under the circumstances, he's doing very, very well," Denis said. F1 doctors were surprised to find the driver conscious and in good shape. The medical team then transferred him to the hospital. "When I saw the crash on the screen I was very worried; I thought he was dead," Denis said. "But when we got there, I was very happy to see he was talking." Kubica will undergo neurological tests today.

^ Thanx for the update, that was a very nasty crash!!!

Good show from Lewis but what was Alonso on?

Another solid podium for NH, and surprise from Wurz and Placing by RS who I think was 1 stopping.

Brilliant move from Sato and Webber seemed to be driving his socks off to make up for that early mistake.

ALL HAIL KING LEWIS!
<

Excellent drive, wtf was the Super-Spaniard on today? He made more mistakes than a Spyker today.

The first exciting race of the season and i missed that ....... thing! I saw the last 12 laps, but i'm a bit gutted i missed all the action. I hope Kubica gets better ASAP and back in his car. WEll done to Lewis, hes got some good points over on his rivals. From what i saw and read though Sato is the man of the day, congrats to him.

ITV guy said that he could see damage to the floor in the 1st pit stop. obviously self inflicted but any other day he could of got across unscathed.

Alonso wouldnt have won as Hamilton was too quick i think but 2nd or at least 3rd was possibly.

Alonso was unlucky with the timing of the safety car as he had no choice but to take a penalty apparently as would have run out of fuel.

I'm sure Lewis will have a race like Fernando where everything goes wrong and costs him points but with next race being Indy, not looking too good for Alonso.

how lucky was he to survive that seemingly relatively unscathed. i'd be surprised if they let him race next week if there is any possible injuries that could affect him at all.

the worst part was after the crash when his car flipped up over the detatched wheel and the cameras were close up on his neck going side to side violently and then him not moving. i thought he was in big trouble and i thought of Senna's accident. was a relief to hear from his manager that he was ok though during the second half of the race.
