Casey and the Marshalls

and as you say perhaps it is for the best that it will all be over after 8 races more.

I take issue with this
<
. It will never be over, the next Stoner is like the next Doohan or Gardner or Mladin and they are always misunderstood and/or polarizing characters, so it will never end! Spoiler alert, we just seem be having a bit of a choker problem when it comes to golf. Still if your hero was Norman and last name is Scott, short for Scotland then I guess we can write it off. How about we start fighting over the olympics?

No go. Great Britain/the UK are going to beat us there.

Absolutey, they took all our good coaches
<

Besides, don't they form a group of countries to go forth under the same banner?

(genuine question there as well given that at some events they are England and others Great Britain)

Yeah, Team GB will include Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In competitions like the world cup they are not as we play England, Scotland, wales ect rather than GB.

Personally i don't care much for the Olympics, It lost it's whole meaning when it went professional. As for it being staged in the uk, fact is it cost us all our tax money yet only London will really benefit from it. The whole ....... country revolves around that .... hole.

I am just about over it as well. I meant what I said a few weeks ago about engaging in bitter slanging matches with people with whom I would probably enjoy having a beer to apply to you as well as talpa.

As it happens I am fairly large and strong, if not very fit as age encroaches, and people seldom pick fights with me in real life either, which is what I meant in my poorly expressed post rather than that you were a bully in real life. All the evidence from the laguna seca meet -up thread etc would suggest that you are a convivial and generous man.

This all started out as a game but it is obvious that passions genuinely run very high here and elsewhere about the matters concerning which we have argued , and as you say perhaps it is for the best that it will all be over after 8 races more. I get confused between you sometimes being prepared to criticise riders and other posters trenchantly, but also often being quick to take offence if people take issue with you or your arguments. From my point of view I have mainly taken issue with your arguments rather than you, but I can see how that can be construed as the same thing, and am obviously gulity of taking things fairly seriously myself on occasion. I will join keshav in saying peace, and apologise for the remark I made after that discussion at least. The irony thing also, that was a time I did get annoyed myself after a whole thread of denigration of stoner, and I tried to immediately withdraw what I said to pete bass about lorenzo out-doing rossi ( if he does which is quite unlikely it will not detract from valentino's tremendous achievements, and is not something I particularly want either to happen or not to happen, in fact having preferred rossi to win in 2009) but you had already replied.

I except your apology but i'm still at a loss as to why you jumped in on an argument involving only Kesh and myself. I chose to do the adult thing by backing out , saying i no longer enjoy debating him so probably wont in future and wished him well. There was nothing that should have involved you but you still felt the need to make the post you have now apologized for. Surely it is best to take this stance when its obvious you never agree rather than continue to ..... at the expense of others enjoyment?

Fair cop, it was out of line. I was annoyed with you having a go at me on this thread which I had just belatedly read, and some of your comments about the bautista stoner incident. I actually did have arguments I could have made and parallels I could have drawn concerning that incident, but basically thought he needed to accept criticism for it in view of his sanctimony about the mistakes of others, if not the degree of criticism he received.

I don't think you understand water management and water tables mate. You think chemicals ect that are flushed down the loo don't find there way into drinking water? Especially in a dry country like yours
<
I'm not saying your drinking water comes straight from the treatment plant/chuddy farm. Where i live our water comes from the chalk downs but in times of drought and shortage treatment plant water is flushed into the water course. Some country's this is a common occurrence.

Rog. In Aust. Most of our "effluent" is pumped into the sea. I can't think of any of our water sources which have a water treatment plant, or even a town? upstream from a water source.

It is a topic of debate though, with many here horrified that some are suggesting we drink anything but pure fed, UN-human-contacted water. ( hey I get the ..... that we drink Kangaroo piss!! )

I have a friend who sources his water from an aquifer ( said to have 3,000 year entry to exit cycle ..... so he's safe for a few years yet here. His water is beautiful to drink and use and flows out at 1m depth.

I also have a property which has several springs that are fed by the same aquifer.

Folk up here are "pissed off" because Coca Cola has bought a property on the aquifer, and is using more than folk think they should.

Many folk here just won't drink recycled water ........ in fact I think that "many" may be everyone.

I don't want to make you feel inadequate in any shape or form Reg. ..... but that aquifer alone is probably bigger than all the area of Britain!!!

Up yours Frenchy!!

Barry,

I am in agreement that the water supply in Oz doesn't get recycled water added because the sources are largely dams and they are not sited where there is anything upstream other than kangaroos etc.

In the UK they mostly have reservoirs. These are not built in a catchment area with a dam like in Oz, but are often on the top of moors. This one http://saltairedailyphoto.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/blackstone-edge-reservoir.html is just up the road from where I grew up and is fairly typical - it's at the highest point, pretty much, of that moor. So most water doesn't get into the reservoir from run off except in very wet periods like the UK has had recently.

Instead, at the start of spring when the rivers are normally at their highest, the reservoirs are all topped off from the nearest river system. If, in a drought, the reservoirs run low and there's not enough water in the river system to re-top them up then water from treatment plants will be added to the system.

To be honest I'd never thought about the fact that many reservoirs are on hills in the UK until I moved to rural SE Qld where all the water storage is dam based. Much better idea IMO. Mind you, we use tank water in Oz, which I prefer as it's softer and tastes better. People who come to visit from the UK are usually horrified
<

I'm also with you that most Aussies wouldn't drink re-cycled water - bottled water is what we have done when we have had to get a tanker load to fill one of the small tanks with town water, because that only happens in a drought and at that point the local dam is also too low and town water tastes foul.

Then you're lucky. The tap water here must be bad as my cat refuses to drink it. He drinks from the pond in my garden or from puddles, in fact i have never seen him ever drink from the bowls of water i put down.

Then there is the ppm. As i said our water comes from the chalk downs and is so hard that i have to chemically wash my car after a water wash . Water marks doesn't even come close to describing what my black car looks like after the hose pipes been on it.

Although it sounds bad ,statistics have shown heart disease is far lower in hard water areas. There is more calcium in a pint of water than there is in a pint of milk here.

Where you live, most of your drinking water has been drunk six or seven times before you... unless you aren't a customer of Thames Water...

Not Thames water here mate. Where southern water and our drinking water comes from the chalk hills or so they say.
