apparently 1 of these 3 tracks is going to be gone next season to make room for the 2nd italian race at misano. shanghai, qatar, sepang. which would u rather see go?

I don't know, but Sepang will be the one to go, maybe Shanghai. Sepang has so many races on its calendar, MotoGP isn't so crucial to it. Qatar, to the best of my knowledge, has no other international races (A1, F1 etc...) whereas Shanghai has the A1 GP. Shanghai is still a new track, so they won't get rid of it, ditto Qatar. Sepang will go.

Qatar has World Superbikes in addition to MotoGP. Realistically it will be Sepang that will be eliminated. Too bad really, it's never been a favorite of mine but is very intriguing in its layout.

Qatar and China can't be they have invested too much money to quit so early.

Sepang doesn't seem to be doing badly either.

It doesn't make sense to me that any of these 3 gets axed.

sepang sounds like the one to go .... shame though ... its a good circuit

They should get rid of Donington until they improve the facilities for the paying punters

You know, I think its a real shame if they are planning on dropping one of these tracks....I think each country should only have a maximum of one race per year anyway - it makes it special, knowing that the gp riders only hit the UK shores once a year.

well ben i think some country's are large enough to warrent at least 2 races. here for 1. be nice not to have to travel all the way to california from maryland to see a gp. we need an atlantic gp here on the east coast
<
. spain is the country that needs to lose a round or 2. 3 rounds plus 1 in portugal...... 4 rounds on the iberian penisula. little greedy if ya ask me
<

They make the money though Frosty. Who knows if there is enough support for the sport here to make a second USGP worth while.

It's OK with me.

Although I think it's a pity some continents don't get to have a race. They should go back to South Africa and Argentina.

Yeah Sepang for me too.

I'd just love to see them go to Monza, imagine the slipstreaming down those straights.

In fact thinkin about it Monza would be death for the slower bikes wouldnt it? the gap between the fastest and the slowest bike in GP is much greater than in WSB.

Argentina or Brazil, which one would you prefer, Teo? I say Bin Qatar. It`s all sand and tyre wasting heat. But they won`t listen to me!!
<
They wont get rid of Shanghai. Once China`s bike industry finds its feet they`ll probably have more rounds there. Motorcycle wise, china is where Japan was about 40 or 50 years ago. Too many manufacturers making crap bikes that copy foreign models. Give them some time and youll see a handful of good manufacturers gobble up the .... ones (Just like Japan) And with a new industry like that comes new race-capable manufacturers, sponsors, riders and fans. It would be very stupid in the long run to axe Shanghai. So Sepang will probably go..... Damn greedy Europeans

sponsorship of the teams by cigarette manufacturers is big buisness in all forms of motorsport. gradually i think countries which ban tobacco advertising could well lose out on the chance to host gps. big money sponsors such as marlboro ,camel and gauloises cannot be happy when they cannot advertise at certain events. ducati need marlboro,s financial clout to compete . its a shame because some of the old established venues could disapear,to be replaced with soulless venues with no spectators

Tobacco sponsors are dissappearing(spelling?), only Marlboro is comitted to the next 5 years.

Tech and communications companies will take over according to Ezpeleta (Dorna boss).

My bet is on Malaysia saying bye bye.

Quatar and China have just come, it would be crazy to quit so soon, a massive economic loss.

Telecommunicationses? I can buy that. That rich brit who owns Vrigin likes to waste money, And mobs like Vodafone and Telefonica are into it too. And quitters worldwide are gonna kill ... companies in the end, so they wont have any money to throw their weight around. But they got mobile phones and internet and crap in Malaysia. Why can`t Sepang stay?

I would say: bye bye qatar!!!

teo, you forget that it's not qatar that has invested in the circuit, it's that sjeik dude. he is the only person who will and has felt it in his wallet. I think it's a boring circuit, with so little crowd (the most people that are going to it are the foreigners who work there, not the locals...),the sjeik never will be able to turn the loss into profit, so therefor, to spare the 'poor' man, let's dump qatar
<

but you all probably will be right (but I hope not), the motogp probably likes to come there, so sepang will be the one to go.

rallyron, I think the same thing! it would be nice to see the motogp at monza, it's a beautiful circuit. and for the 125cc and the 250cc, why not doing the same as they did last year at Laguna?? I know, the italian crowd probably wants to see the other races too, but for us at the tv, it will be a nice motogprace to watch
<

That`s a good idea, Marijke. I suspect the reason why they didn`t do 250s and 125s at Laguna was because it`s a long way to travel for a low budget 125 or 250 team, to go halfway around the world o a place where the people generally only take an interest in big bore racing. Somewhere like Spain or Italy would almost be the opposite. And it`d be easier on the wallet of those mostly European based small bore teams.
