Sounds like Marc is taking this better than his detractors are at the moment.

He's still on pole position tomorrow, and it's going to be a long race for certain.

A lot of riders seem to crash out at about the same time in the race, yes they hit wet patches, but tire degradation also plays a factor. Every lap on the soft tires will feel slightly different, and we do know the soft tires have a drop off point just after the middle of their lifecycle.

But shouldn't tire life not be an issue in a 12 lap race? They don't have special tires for the sprints....do they?

Also my bet is that after tomorrow Pedrosa will have gained more points than any japanese rider bar quartararo in only one race weekend and probably more than marini will have in the whole 2024 season

Some cannot even hear bad opinion about their favorite rider, jump to personal attack immediately, like a child, but calling others childish. Try to scroll back some pages to see who is childish @Keshav !

These childish Rossifarian trolls are so generic, it hardly seems worth the bother to tell one from the other. First it's Bird-Brain, and shortly thereafter, it's Dog-Breath. A month from now, he'll resurface as Lady-Boy from Jakarta.

Or . . . And hear me out, just maybe he crashed (whether due to unpredictable side-winds or damp spots) like half the field. Because if we follow your thinking, then half the field crashed today because their talent too is on a downward trajectory all, coincendentally, on the same day.

If your entire agenda is to pop in now and then to spout irrational hate for Marquez, you should know, that .... has been done to death. Boring.

Yes,
Looking forward to todays longer race. Martin will be hard to beat again.
I expect Pecco will be on too, will see how he cooes with that grid position. If he gets away well it may not be too bad.
Martin is the one riding like a title winner, while Bagnaia crashes out, on one occasion trying to prove a point to or about MM. Martin’s true rival might be Acosta, who seems to be able to do young MM things on a bike without crashing.

I am willing to consider the possibility that MM’s reflexes have slowed just a tad and he can no longer pull off the ridiculous saves all the time he once managed routinely. I recall in 2013 Lorenzo et al didn’t consider him a threat for the title for a considerable part of the season because they didn’t think he could last a whole season riding as he did. The possibilities also exist with 15 other crashes in the race that a wet patch, shoddy tyres or a tendency for these aero bikes to let go unpredictably were involved. Both Bagnaia and Martin have blamed the latter for crashing out of races in recent seasons without being given much credence including on here.

I consider it likely MM will win races this year and do enough to get a better ride next season which may be his last chance, Acosta is very definitely coming.

If there is schadenfreude for Rossi fans in seeing MM crash out it is hardly lacking for those of the opposing persuasion, not a good race for the 3 riders most associated with Valentino with him in attendance and in the pits no less, and if we are talking gross riding errors Bezzecchi had the field covered in this race.

Yes Acosta seems to be the future and MM's time, great as it was, is approaching its' conclusion. He will need to make next year count if another title is coming.
I had come to the belief that much of the difference the rider can make has been engineered away, or at least minimised, with aero and ride height devices.
Acosta seems to be making some of that difference again though. 😎

Today's context. You are so nostalgic :). Poor you!

If you want to look back, your favorite rider is still far from Rossi record. Sorry ;).
Now we see it, your slip is showing. While this is obviously largely a forum which strongly favours MM over Rossi, not a common phenomenon on motogp sites based in English speaking countries despite which it still seems to irk Rossi fans, you reveal yourself as not exactly a dispassionate fan of the sport yourself.

If MM is past it due to age/not being able to adapt to current technology he is past it, this is what happens to all athletes eventually unless they retire at their absolute peak. His peak however if it has passed lasted for 7 years and involved some of the most remarkable riding ever seen, more remarkable than anything Rossi who employed what was more the apotheosis of a conventional riding style ever managed imo. More of MM’s titles were won when a larger number than 4 riders on the grid could win a race, or one for most of Valentino’s first season on a 990 bike, or with potential winners not including the other factory Yamaha rider, basically employed as a test mule, during Rossi’s first stint at Yamaha.

I hadn’t read your posts before making my previous post, but agreed with the commentators at the time that Martin may well have elected not to try to go with MM and instead take points which were easily available to help his pursuit of the title, and this approach as opposed to his approach at the end of the 2023 season may well win him the 2024 title.

You btw neglect to comment on MM’s intrinsic pace on a bike reputed to be the problematic initial version of the GP23 and not even the developed version employed by Bagnaia and Martin at the end of the 2023 season. As I said in my post prior to this one I consider it entirely possible MM will win races and do enough to get on a factory bike next season, which might make the 2025 season rather interesting, if not for you. It would have been problematic imo for even peak young MM to win a title against the young talent in the current field on better bikes than he is riding. You don’t have to take the latter as my opinion btw, pronouncements from Gigi et al seem to recognise MM is on a Ducati significantly inferior to the GP24.

Just watched the race. Yes, a lot of crashing, glad nobody seems hurt.

Doesn’t matter that the track has wet patches or the tires are going off, everybody has to ride the bike. If you don’t finish, you can’t win.

Would have been nonsense to stop the race. Martin and Acosta seem to have managed the pace without excursions through the kitty litter.

On to tomorrow!

A guy whose name no one ever heard before, Daniel, on the podium

You cant make this up lol
To be fair, the way this played out kinda sucks.
Daniel got a podium but didn't get to participate in the podium ceremony. Fabio lost the podium after participating in the celebrations.
None of them can be completely happy.

big crash for Acosta in warm up. Fast. Seems ok
Monster crash

Can’t read too much into the times from WU. MM came through 4/1000s of a second down on his brother in 1st but it didn’t count because of the red flag or also the yellow flag. I assume this also impacted most of the riders.
