Not only is the MotoGP season getting underway this weekend, but Round 3 of WSBK is at Valencia as well. Last year Spies took the pole with a dnf and a 2nd, but Haga pulled off the double win on a track that Ducati has traditionally done well at. Fabrizio had a double podium last year as well. Checa goes fast here and the Ducati has been working great for him as of late. Haslam managed two 5th's last year on the privateer Honda, this year he has a weapon he can win with. Biaggi had two 8th place finishes, but is coming off his first double win. We should have some great racing this weekend. I have a feeling the Xerox team will finally make a real presence.

My picks:

Race 1
1. Haga
2. Checa
3. Haslam
4. Fabrizio
5. Biaggi

Race 2
1. Checa
2. Fabrizio
3. Haga
4. Haslam
5. Rea

Yea, the factory Ducs dominated last year. Even though they seem to be missing something this season, i cant imagine the other teams have made up 5 seconds on them from last year.

#1 Haga
#2 Fabrizio

#3 Haslam

Race 2

#1 Fabrizio
#2 Haga
#3 Haslam

It's so wide open this year (so far) that it is (for me) ridiculous to even
speculate - tho I thinks it's a safe bet that Haslam will be on the podium.
I really hope Portimao a was fluke Ducati-wise. I have have no great love
for Fabrizio and am not masochistic enough to have high hopes for Haga
but - I'd hate to see a season go by, where they're not in the mix. If
2010 were to go by with all the Ducs in the back - you can bet there'd
be some serious arm-twisting in the back room somewhere to allow the
Ducatis yet another advantage. The performance of the Aprilias must be
eating them up.

You wont have to wait if Ducati has a bad day this weekend. The 3 KG weight reduction will automatically kick in.

Hmm all looks pretty normal. The Duc's are mostly all at the top. Haga where he is expected to be in practice. I'm pretty surprised that Rea is so far down the list though. Toseland with no improvement between P and Q, not looking good for him. Checa has really gelled with that Duc. I think that he is going to be up there all year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Checa pulls the double this weekend. This is a "Ducati track", he's had an amazing start to the season, and it's a home race. So long as he doesn't push someone off the track in a last ditch effort on the final corner like he did to Neukirchner.

Xerox really needs a good weekend. Not messing up Superpole is going to be crucial. They should aim to get at least get into Superpole 3 so they can be in the front 2 rows. If they fail again, we certainly are going to start hearing talk about the loss of Tardozzi.

It will be interesting to see if Haslam and Biaggi can keep up with the Ducatis. Hopefully they will play it smart, if they know that it's not possible to keep up, and instead settle for valuable points.

is it a confidence think with haga? im sure its not the "whats the point, im never gonna win the crown" attitude. cause if it is he should just retire. i really hope he gets it together for race day.

Haga is never one to go blow it up in practice or even qualifying for that matter. He is a race day specialist. I have no doubt that he will be at the front come race day.
