In 06 capi came:

1st 3 times

2nd 4 times and

3rd once

had he not have been taken out in catalyuna and gone on to win he would have sealed the championship. 8 podiums in the 06 season is hardly inconsistent.

And before he was hurt, and after he was healed, he would win a race and finish 6-8th next time out. People forget that when he got hurt, even with his great start to a season, he was still just tied with Nicky in points. The reason, he was inconsistent

Well 2 of his wins and 2 of his 2nd place finishes were after he was injured. sure he took about 4 races to get back to form after the crash which is understandable. Also its worth noting that the bridgstone's were not as good as the Michelin's back then on quite a few tracks on the calendar. This was due to their infency in the sport and there focus on a general spec tyre rather than the specific tyre of michilin.

I didnt take the 3 races after his injury into consideration. Before he was hurt, and after he healed, he would have a great race, then a not so great race. The tire thing is true and i really miss that in GP. It was like a competition within a competition and was a source for great debate. Thanks Rossi

I also miss the tyre wars but blameing it on rossi is ....... lame. When a riders contract is up it meens there a free agent and now have the right to choose, whether that be bike, leathers, tyres or anything. Rossi's michelin contract was up, he had stuck with them until the conclusion of that contract. They were not performing at the level required and had serious in fighting at board level. Who the .... in there right mind would want to re-sign ?

We were talking about Capi's 06 season yet you could not resist bringing rossi into it. Your ....... paranoid pov and your hatred is starting to get a bit ....... boring imo.

If you want to get technical, the thread is about Why Rossi pushed the red button, not weather or not Capirossi was consistent or would have won a title. Im sorry i spoiled your debate by stating facts instead of opinions, my bad.

Yes i know the thread title but you were debating capi's 06 season and consistency, you didn't have all your facts straight in that debate so by your own admission you dropped the rossi leaving Michelin card to get a rise instead.

Im predictable, the 54321 was a countdown to see which worshipper jumped first, you win
<
Thats predictable

Please do show me what facts i didnt have straight. Plus, I was not the one who brought up Capirossi in the first place, so maybe they ruined it for you.

Just a correction for Talpa......Bayliss was on a 990 at Valencia 06

that's what I meant mate..... Povols just ineptly trying to prove that Stoner all of sudden made the Ducati amazing..... If Sete didn't get banged up as well they would have been on the podium more in 2006, but ten odd, plus four wins is hardly uncompetative. Capa won more races than the champ that year!!

tell that to the Ducati fans in WSBK this year.......they feel that eaventhough they have a few wins and podiums for season they are less competative than R L Hayden's bike!!!

there are a ton of if's that we can all rehash......if Elias did not beat Rossi to the line at Portugal, he would have had 5 more points/ if Edwards did not crash out of Assen, Hayden would have had 5 fewer points/ if Elias did not cause Rossi to crash at Jerez, I am sure he would have scored more points (probably won or podium)/ if Rossi's bike did not fail at Le Mans (was leading) and Laguna ( was holding 4th place with a few laps to go)/ if Rossi did not break his wrist I am sure he would have done better than 8th place (again probably win or podium)/ if Rossi's tire did not come apart at China he would probably had a top 5 finish. I think it is safe to say Rossi would have had over 300 points that season and the title.

If Hayden had been .736 faster at Mugello/ .901 faster at Qatar/ and 1.506 faster at China, he would have had 5 wins, an extra 19 points, and gotten less .... for only having 2 wins for his championship.

In the end Rossi and Capirossi had issues during the season costing them possible points and a possible title, while Hayden had little support if any from Honda that year and in the end earned the most points for the title

Read up what, the best stats for the year, show the other stats where he finished way down the field after winning the last time out. You dont want to do that though, doesnt go with your argument. Since you wont, i will, after i eat.

FACTORY, too bad you were not here during and right after the 2006 season, some of the best debates in the history of this forum took place during that time period. It was said that Nicky Hayden was the luckiest man alive.

I felt he was the luckiest man then.....because he was able to fullfill his dream of becoming MotoGP champion......not because other riders might have won if all the "if's" fell into place. He may have had a lackluster title year with only 2 wins, since we were used to Rossi averaging 10 wins each season from 2001 through 2005, but in the end...he earned the most points, got the trophy, and his 2006 RC211V !!!!

Easy? Pot and kettle there, Haters(sorry what else can you call it) are the MOST predictable of the lot, jumping onto a rossi card at every opportunity. I find it boring as hell, and if this is actually making you laugh at your keyboard or even amusing you then....wow, get out a little.

Your argument was on its ass mate, and you simply looked for an escape route.

Pure exposure.

You havnt been here long enough to even understand, so piss off. This goes way back, probably before you first pair of Rossi underwear. But keep it coming though, your status is growing daily and if you keep it up, you might just ascend to head of the fanboy club in record time.

Now for some facts

Capi started the season with a 1st and a 3rd

Next 2 races 6th and an 8th

Won Motegi

12th at Estoril

2nd at Sepang

7th at Philip Island

After an Ok 5th at Germany

8th at Laguna

So mate, where is my argument now, or do you consider that consistent championship form.

Is that some kind of cryptic English to back out of a debate when presented with facts.
