Just like Elias estoril 06 ended up the championship decider. Tough after he took Rossi out at Assen i think it was haha. It can be a tough sport.

It was the first lap of the opener at Jerez!
Assen though was also a nightmare for Vale that year when he crashed at Ramshoek in practice and broke his wrist.

Interesting thing for me is that if Jorge wins this race with MM second, all else being equal (I do realise it wouldn't have been) MM's last corner pass at Jerez will have decided the championship
Absolutely well said I agree 100% .... congrats to MM and all involved!3677221384102097
Like many on here I've been fortunate enough to have followed this championship for over three decades and I struggle to recall a braver and more impressive title defence. As Spalders pointed out today Yamaha are on 30% of the budget of HRC. I agree with the contention that Jorge was perhaps more complacent during the opening races of the season, but during the second half he has been faultless. Absolutely inspired stuff from rider and Forcada and crew. Congratulations to MM. He's had 15 crashes this year but only one in a race - and he learnt from that mistake. He's ridden hard and yet he's been incredibly consistent. I'm glad the rookie rule was lifted however vested the interests in doing so - just as I am glad it didn't exist in 1977 when the King beat Bazza fair and square. Of course MM has the best machinery, but name a rider in the field that could have overcome Lorenzo this year given the Full Factory machine or could have exploited it to the fullest as MM has. He's earned his place at HRC and he's earned his World Championship.
