Stella championship defence from Lorenzo. Broken shoulder then races with it only to bend the plate. Thats one tough bloke.

 :clap2: :2a: :2a: :toot:

Good job from everyone involved. Memorable season for many reasons. Smart tactic from Lorenzo { until he tried to kill Pedrosa} He needs to be banned for the 1st five races of next season ;) . Dani for playing nice with his teammate, and Marquez for finally being smart enough to see the big picture. Ultimately Lorenzo himself screwed up his own strategy. When he tried to kill Pedrosa :p , he allowed Marquez to slip through. The next few laps he had to up the pace to catch Marquez which separated the field, leaving Torpista and Rossi far enough back so everyone could breath. Great season, history made, cant wait for next March

great start of the race. congratulations to Marquez. Lorenzo took off into the distance so no one would see him cry

So, I have just enjoyed eating my hat as a tasty snack. The wee ....... did it! Well done Marky Marc, unreal achievement. I have switched between loving and hating him for years. The kid is awesome. He is also ....... mental. Jorge, been a fan since 250 days, hard ....... and genius on a motorcycle. He'll be back, Hasta last Vista baby. Peddles, made more overtakes in one race than the rest of his career, but was never going to beat Jorge today. Rossi, errrrrrrrr, thanks for the memories, it's sad to see a legacy being dismantled slowly and painfully. I love bike racing.

Just like Elias estoril 06 ended up the championship decider. Tough after he took Rossi out at Assen i think it was haha. It can be a tough sport.

It was the first lap of the  opener at Jerez!

Assen though was also a nightmare for Vale that year when he crashed at Ramshoek in practice and broke his wrist.

I've always said his team mate crashing on the last corner at Assen, while leading the race from Hayden was a comedy of errors that cost Vale as much as Scud, or anything else that year. Itwas never to be. God was looking down on Jum that year, and said. Have this one son.

Like many on here I've been fortunate enough to have followed this championship for over three decades and I struggle to recall a braver and more impressive title defence. As Spalders pointed out today Yamaha are on 30% of the budget of HRC. I agree with the contention that Jorge was perhaps more complacent during the opening races of the season, but during the second half he has been faultless. Absolutely inspired stuff from rider and Forcada and crew.

Congratulations to MM. He's had 15 crashes this year but only one in a race - and he learnt from that mistake. He's ridden hard and yet he's been incredibly consistent. I'm glad the rookie rule was lifted however vested the interests in doing so - just as I am glad it didn't exist in 1977 when the King beat Bazza fair and square. Of course MM has the best machinery, but name a rider in the field that could have overcome Lorenzo this year given the Full Factory machine or could have exploited it to the fullest as MM has. He's earned his place at HRC and he's earned his World Championship.

Interesting thing for me is that if Jorge wins this race with MM second, all  else being equal (I do realise it wouldn't have been) MM's last corner pass at Jerez will have decided the championship

Great point MM

I guess being an ....... does pay off in life

Congrats to Dorna/HRC/Marquez.  Their combined effort wins the title, well done and deserved.

Lorenzo, great title defense, having the tools to do so helps.

Pedrosa, worthless as always.

Hayden, goes out as top Ducati.

This has been an extraordinary season.  Many adjectives could be assigned to it. Both Lorenzo and Marquez have battled on the track resulting in success for both of them, more impressive for Marc being a rookie to the class. Both had to ride the bikes allotted, and both battled with those they were supposed to beat--so well done to them. To analyze this season, as it would for any, a bit more depth is required, as only an ignorant person would think the on-track results are gained straight up. The impact on the field of play from Dorna, MSMA, and its influential members, and ancillary principals have had just as much effect on the results as have their contestants.  To what extant?  And has that impacted the results enough to bring into question the legitimacy? The 4th bike in parc ferme should give anybody watching MotoGP pause to consider the implications of such a bizarre sight, one that despite being freakish, especially in the context of the history of this sport, has largely gone undiscussed and universally accepted. Dorna have imposed rules in such a way that changing any rule arbitrarily has provided its viewers the appearance of a legitimate championship.  It has worked.

being at the track enjoying every second of the race. great to see MM bring it home. nice gift to pedro too: the same lap MM was shown that behind pedro was a gap of 4 seconds, he kind of relegated himself back to P3. not interested infighting today. also interesting to see that hardly anybody gave a .... about JL and his post-race celebrations. one member (baturro?) said it would be easy to see that JL isn't too popular in spain. funny enough, you see many more folks wearing JL caps, shirts etc. than Pedro merch, but the latter is much better received by the crowd. anyway, a great race weekend and a decent conclusion of a great season.

just two cents on JL's title defence: he got beaten by rookie. full stop.

plus: how much did MM earn this year prior to the bonuses that are due now? one million? how much does rossi get paid by yamaha? ten million? add that to the difference between the salaries of JL and pedro and figure out where you can put your 'yamaha running on 30% of honda's budget' argument. you can do a lot of development with that ten million or so difference.

What happened to the investigation after the race?

Race Insurrection found Lorenzo to be dangerous and awarded the win to Marquez.  They haven't decided between issuing a 3 race suspension for Lorenzo next year or just giving Marquez a 75 point lead going into 2014.
