You entered into the conversation on your own. I ‘responded’ to you, not the other way around. You can’t be “dragged” into something that you entered willingly. I distinctly remember reading a post of yours that you were done responding to synn. Am I correct? Pye, what you’re advocating is for Kesh and others to continue trolling Synn because…Synn is a troll. My interjection to this cycle was to point out who are the culprits of this cycle. For that Kesh and Barry have made me their target! They can’t stand that I would highlight their childish behavior, so I must be vilified. And frankly, its working, that why they are continuing to do it.
Lets break this down:
1. Original Synn: Kesh/Barry engaged in flame warring, clogging up threads ‘before’ I chimed in. FACT. This is undisputed fact, the time stamps are there, surely you don’t need me to post a bunch of quote of theirs engaging in the trolling-response cycle to show you time stamps, do you? Perhaps, but as it appears, it wouldn’t help settle this “debate”. Facts have become irrelevant.
2. The call out: I chimed in and pointed out that Kesh/Barry (and sure, they’re not the only ones, but were the most egregious engagers). Keep in mind, that after I chimed in, perhaps some took a step back, others stopped all together, or reduced, meanwhile Kesh/Barry not only continued, but its like they went into hyperdrive.
3. Spin Machine: Kesh/Barry’s narrative: Jumkie is the evil villain here! Look at him, not us! Uhm, except, they were fully engaged in the trolling-response cycle ‘before’ I chimed in. So when did I become their target? Right ‘after’ I pointed out their behavior.
4. Newspeak Works: Notice now how I have become the topic, not the reason why we got here in the first place, which was to stop the trolling-response cycle. Listen, the people that have the power to stop the cycle refuse, and it will continue then. No wonder that Kesh/Barry fight so hard to keep conflict alive, they thrive on it. Keep in mind Pye, we are talking on a thread called the “Non-trolling Pledge’ thread!
5. The Winner: Trolls. Pye what is the point of saying, he look, lets not feel sorry for this troll, because he is a real troll, so lets troll him. Take a look at pages 6 & 7, particularly 7, that entire page is an example of how threads get clogged up with the troll-reaction cycle. There are many pages in threads exactly like this! Who wins in this scenario? Who loses? Make no mistake, there is a winner!
In my arrogance I had the same attitude as you for quite a while, but eventually realised that the only discourse which is possible with this troll or trolls is an exchange of schoolboy personal invective, which is rapidly resorted to if anything even vaguely resembling an argument is presented.
As it is said, never argue with idiots, they will only bring you down to their level and beat you with superior experience.
I appreciate you honesty Mike. Reminds me of other times I’ve said this to you, because your sense of responsibility and accountability is sometimes done to a fault as well. I should assume that in your list of “troll or trolls” you’ve included Barry and Kesh, despite that you have not specifically. More on this below.
I specifically posted to make it clear I was in no way exonerating the troll/trolls without addressing him/them myself.
I didn't really intend to reprove Keshav, and was more just pointing out that I had seen the futility myself of exchanging personal invective with the troll or trolls concerned after doing the same thing as him for some time myself.
I understand the notion of ‘he that is without fault cast the first stone’. And there is value in this concept, but it can also be a significant disservice! Like I said, sometimes your sense of accountability is done to a fault, because by not including Kesh or Barry in the list of the trolls, then you’ve given them a pass, you have emboldened. Here is another saying I would counter with: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” I shouldn’t have to go back and provide you with quotes of theirs to show you that they have engaged in no significant higher plane than any other troll. In fact, one of their ludicrous arguments they propose, using “logic” was, ‘well we can engage in racism because Synn did it’, included in that “logic” because I had not engaged with Synn, then I somehow was condoning racism. Except they didn’t factor into their “logic” that I had not engaged with Synn period, why, because of self-control. Another “logically” argument proposed is this: because Synn is a particularly effective troll, therefore, me going after the responders (i.e. Kesh and Barry) therefore I’m in cahoots with the troll. Wasn’t this the ideation proposed from the “deferential” treatment I and Arrabi received? Mike, is this not devoid of reason? This is trolling too! It is insidious provocation on Kesh and Barry’s part. Why should Synn get special treatment for being a troll if you are not willing to include Barry and Kesh in that list?
