Stoner Retiring!

So, I really just dislike stoner...not as a rossi fan, bc if that were true i would hate lorenzo too (which i dont). Idk i just dont like the way he acts. The guy is so blessed with talent, which im sure as huge fans of racing we all would love to have, and he just isn't into it. I've read an article on motousa and the guy made a few valid points, to summarize he said that Stoner never really had a childhood, and was judged purely on laptimes his entire life. This is really a valid point, but there are so many like him out there that love it. So i must say, even if many may disagree, that even if stoner is arguably the Hailwood of our time, he is too mentally weak for a long term stay in this sport. It is a huge loss to our sport though, not denying that, as a Rossi fan i have dreamed of the day rossi challenged him again and won....guess we will never see the day. What a shame.

If you don't like him , you don't like him.
Some might consider it a strange form of mental weakness that is insufficient to prevent 2 premier class titles, 35 premier class wins and 2 premier class10 win seasons (thus far), certainly the latter 2 and probably the former not having been achieved by anyone mentally weak previously, and not likely to achieved by anyone mentally weak in the future imo.
Anyone claiming Stoner is mentally weak must be mentally deranged.
I can understand people not liking the way he acts as there is so few people in public life who have even a shred of integrity that it is easy for people to be confused by it when they see it and when people don't understand something or are confused by something it is natural to dislike it.
People who think for themselves generally like those who also think and speak for themselves and maintain their integrity in the face of pressure to be something else.
Announcing his retirement on his terms has shown Stoner to be mentally beyond reproach and in the possession of a level of integrity that is alien like.

to some people having the chance to be in gps is the biggest gift and riders should be grateful for it, and if stoner doesn't appreciate it anylonger i can understand that it ticks a lot of fans off.

I knew folks from NJ were bad drivers but didn't know they were internet challenged as well.
agree, to be honest 40minutes is a long time to be going at about 100% for race distance.. most of his wins were from the front, away from everyone.. to be focused on the job at hand for a physical and mental marathon with no real motivation to go that fast is tough.. (when i say no real motivation.. i mean someone right behind you, or a goal to get someone else in front etc) .he's also been mentally tough enough to kick rossi's attempts at mind control..
obviously the pinnacle of the sport is the goal or an idea of a goal for everyone who rides motorcycles like these and has the slightest interest in turning, but i can respect that once a championship is achieved, not everyone wants to rewrite the history books.. but, i think its dumb on his part, as he's got these people by the balls right now and could milk quite a bit out of it to put in his retirement fund.. maybe the prospect of a simoncelli or lascorz-like-fate ups the ante significantly enough for him to just call it quits..

As for all these 'mentally weak comments, has anyone ever thought that its down to the fact he is simply fed up of the life? Sure its an honour to be doing what he does, and not one that many get a chance of. However i;ve done a fair bit of travelling with racing and that alone was enough to kerb my passion somewhat...its relentless

Don't you guys get it? Its like if folk got on here and went on about Hayden and Rossi's sexual preferences ( crikey I just realized the Ducati Riders are an all Gay team, could be a first!

NGads you are pretty spot on in your assessment . This thread is been pretty cyclical betweenn someone calling Stoner mentally weak and the the 5 usual suspects defending him. None of them can claim an original thought (even though one claims to have nothing but original thought) Most of them are Aussies who cant muster up a critical opinion because there too wrapped up in their blind nationalism.

Yeah, those dumb nationalistic Aussies are a bunch of blinkered ........ Any mentally weak ..... can notch up a miserable 35 Motogp wins and 2 (maybe a third this year) championships. I guess the mental superiority of Nicky Hayden's entire 3 Motogp race victories put the little moaner's efforts to shame.
