Sachsenring Grand Prix Warm up and Quali

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (povol @ Jul 11 2008, 04:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Bottom line, this is a prototype series. Its about engineering and building the better mousetrap. Its about ideas, different suspensions, engine configurations, tire technology etc:.Realistically, its not supposed to be about close racing, its about about beating the other guys off the drawing board and onto the track. If you like close racing, thats fine, spec racing is for you.I personally dont mind watching some guy kick the .... out of everybody. It makes everybody up their game which eventually means i get a better honed machine when i go to buy.Things get stagnant in the development stage when you limit the developers.I enjoy all kinds of bike racing, AMA,WSB,Moto GP,Supercross,Motocross, you name it, but when it comes down to GP,its about the advancement in technology that keeps me interested.I can watch WSB and get the close racing fix, but on cookie cutter bikes. Its cool and all,but it aint the ultimate.

I agree, this is about prototype racing. However it is not totally open prototype racing either. Some years the bike/rider combinations between teams are close and we get closer racing, other years its clear a bike/rider combo is more dominant. However there is the word "racing" that is in there when we talk about Moto GP. There is a reason all the bikes run at the same time, because its supposed to be a "race" as opposed to just an individual time trial. I think everyone on this forum would agree they would enjoy Moto GP more if there were closer battles during the races.

who are you talking about povol ? in case you hadn't noticed rossi has not had a dominant season like that for quite a while now. this forum may not have even existed then and if it did you and me were not on it. you may have read stuff on other forums at that time but you cant come on here accusing us of that !

Free Practice 2.

1. Stoner Time: 1'21.582 Top speed: 280.155
2. De'Angelis Time: 1'21.993 Top speed: 269.058
3. Edwards Time: 1'22.463 Top speed: 272.177
.....
7. Pedrosa Time: 1'22.974 Top speed: 279.141

Top end sure doesn't hurt when you compare De'Angelis and Stoner, but Pedrosa almost has the same top speed, yet is 1.5 sec down in 7th.

I can't believe it, I settled down with a beer to watch the practice, .. it was only on for 1/2 an hour!

Then they went and put a load of crash shots on, what's happening, do they really think we want to watch crashes that have been on so many times before, I'd rather have seen another 30 mins of practice!

I dont know when the board was born but he was dominant in 2005 and was fairly dominant in 2006, but had a few bad breaks that let the [cruising caretaker}win the title. You will notice i said boards like this, but they are all pretty much the same.80% Rossi 20% everybody else, and if Rossi is going well, all is good in the universe.

Have to disagree Rog. I recorded the lot which was on from early afternoon, and it was each session uninterrupted, excellent commentary as usual from Toby and Jules, the enthusiasm and exuberance of Randy in the garages and the brilliant technical insight from Spalding.unlikethe admittedly lacklustre truncated highlights package that was shown in the evening which is not the fault of the producers and presenters who govern the live coverage. I'm trying not to think of Parrish and .... next year and their dimwitted platitudes, hackneyed cliched quips and general dull uninspired approach. I'm that desperate, I've even contemplated the prospect of turning the sound down and listening to James bloody Haydon on 5 live, which is what I used to do whenever I[diot]TV got hold of a decent football International, just cut the sound on the TV and listen to the radio coverage instead.

BTW, when do you fly West?
