I was talking about the guy having the decency to congratulate him on Twitter, not an empty gesture for the cameras. I realise I made a mess of the attachment but I'm sure you got the gist and saw the post on Twitter. After all you spotted Nicky's post and were quick to throw it on here, with your "respect".
No respect for Jorge's post then? [emoji1]

Yes, I respect Jorge's tweet, why do think that Vale's gesture was empty? I put Nicky's tweet on because Dani has copped a lot of hatred for his mistake in Estoril ten years ago that carried on for too long.

So why didn't Rossi congratulate and thank MM for being the fastest rider on the day and relegating Lorenzo to second at PI 2015?

MM would seem to have been pretty happy DP managed this at San Marino 2016, perhaps the best he could have hoped for from his team-mate in terms of minimising his losses last week-end. Why then was it an act of treachery and manipulation for MM, on an opposition team, to win PI 2015 as he did, beating JL, actually preserving 5 points of Valentino's championship lead?

I think his gesture was empty because he was seething at not winning his home race yet again. He's famous for these gestures, Lorenzo, Stoner and Marquez can attest to this.
Fair enough about Nicky, but Dani copped a lot of abuse at the track too from the disappointed minions. That could've prompted his post too.

If he's seething then an empty gesture it is most definitely not, yes he was extremely disappointed but he gave a personal congratulation and rightly so.
Why not stop clutching at any straw to attack VR?

Speaking of seething, how come Moto Vudu isn't here to call out Rossi for his ........?

He loves talking about Lorenzo's "poor" behavior. Should be a no-brainer to be consistent, right?

Rossi has long done these empty gestures as a way to allow for the media to sell the story of "Rossi as the great sportsman."

Seriously, any time Rossi does it, even with backhanded compliments, look-at-me ...., and so on, the media is fawning over what a great sportsman he supposedly is. Even though there's enough contradictory evidence to the matter.

If he recognised the great race Dani rode and congratulated him, despite desperately wanting to win the race himself, good for Valentino I have to say.

Discerning how genuine his congratulations were is beyond any possible assessment by me from 12,000 miles away.

I don't have any problem with VR post race after this race, but how is DP winning this race different from MM winning PI last year?

I'm not clutching at straws matey, it's my opinion and surely it's my right to express it. Despite being a fan of his (admittedly a good few years ago) I find the guy to be quite in-genuine (if that's the word) and a cold, calculating person. The way he denied any knowledge of his fans persecution of Marquez and Lorenzo is indicative of his true persona.
I accept he's a sportsman and businessmen (a great one at that) who has to have a certain edge to him, but he goes OTT too often, knowing the media and minions will always back him, no matter how badly he behaves.

None whatsoever and before you say it I don't think Vale was covering himself in glory at that time.

I agree with your statement and have to admit I based my opinion on his past behaviour. I do however suspect Lorenzo noticed Rossi's anger (behind the scenes and away from any cameras) and decided to create a bit of mischief in the press conference, knowing that he would bite immediately, as was the case.

So now we're at the point where if a sportsman at the top of the sport is disappointed not to win, him congratulating the winner is and empty gesture? Damn, there's a lot of disingenuous people in the world of sports in this world.

Also, if Rossi saying Pedrosa's pass was Marquezesque was criticism, can somebody tell me out of how many of the 65 or so races that Marquez has races in the top class has Rossi criticized his racing? And then the specific reason behind the criticism for each race?

I don't think for took offense in Lorenzo not being happy in that move, but rather Lorenzo saying that (all) other riders overtake more cleanly, which is clearly not true. I remember in the video he started laughing after that statement and the first counter-argument Rossi gave was that Marquez made 10 of these moves in the previous race, which would seem to support my theory.

Post of the thread. So a twitter post is the gold standard of congratulating in this day and age, not a greeting and a hug. Brilliant.

If anything it's the other way around, Lorenzo posted the image on Twitter to make sure no one is able to not know about it. PR 101.

Great question. Obviously the Spanish Conspiracy to wreck Rossi's championship is on...again.

If you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks.

Different day, month, year, track, temperature, air pressure, humidity, finishing order, Rossi's helmet design, fans, tyre manufacturer, winglets etc.
