Round 13: 2016 San Marino Grand Prix - Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

Rossi went off on A.Asparagus for impeding him in FP2.

https://www.facebook.com/MotoGP/videos/10154804749280769/

I like how he was still raging as he rode past the pit wall and flipped the bird.
That's hysterical. Jesus, he couldn't let that go. He meandered the whole front straight. Which if you think about it was way worse than whatever Alesh did.

Who was that going full throttle past him? Rossi put him and himself in danger. Will race direction take action? They should, no matter how upset a rider gets for some supposed perceived slight, he should not be allowed to lose sight of safety. Especially at a venue named for a man who lost his life in an unforseen freak accident. A reminder that anything can happen on a hot track.

Being monumentally stupid would hardly require a drastic behaviour change from him.

I was looking forward to your thesis about the effects of Stoner's development at a track at which he has tested extensively being proven, but it already wasn't looking like Austria. Hard to know on the information published how much risk would be involved, but the potential for a significant result for him would seem low.

That's a good point. While it wouldn't exactly be a change of behavior, I'd have to think any crash, in particular a high-side during the race could introduce him to Wayne Rainey's situation...at the same circuit no less. Though they say it's stable, I have to think a direct hit could pose problematic. But what do I know really.

I'm disappointed since we're unlikely to know what kind of impact Stoner's development really had on the setup of the bike. I was thinking they were working purely on race setups for those two days of testing in June. Stoner already proved based on what J4rn0 said that the bike was running in the low 1:32's. While it is Casey, it at least tells us what the bike's maximum potential should be for Misano. At the same time, we've only completed two FP sessions, so who knows what qualifying, or even the actual race will bring.

I miss J4rn0. Other than being a flaming bopper, he had some great takes, and was close to the Italian race scene. I bet he'd have some good stuff to post about this event in regards to Ducati. Our fearless media corps made a big deal about Ducati testing here and the potential advantage to doing so but failed to connect the fact all that effort was nullified by Michelin bringing yet again a revised version of Rossi's tires.

Normally a manufacturer that tests at a track recently is evidenced by a good FP1 showing. Rossi topped FP1. Predictable? Surprising? I prefer, scandalous.

It's so blatant that it's desensitized everyone. Yeah that seems normal, because normal is so far out there.

Where has J4rn0 gone anyway? I haven't seen a single post from him in awhile and did appreciate his take on the goings on at Ducati.

The problem with Iannone getting injured we have no idea where his times were going. He completed only 4 laps in FP1.

Right now Dovi's best times from both sessions are:

FP1: Andrea Dovizioso ITA Ducati Team (Desmosedici GP) 1m 33.863s +0.412s [14/17] 293km/h (7th overall)
FP2: Andrea Dovizioso ITA Ducati Team (Desmosedici GP) 1m 32.901s +0.132s [18/20] 294km/h (3rd overall)

Dovi improved by nearly a second thru two FP's. He is going to have to find another maybe 2 or 3 tenths in FP3 to convince me he can challenge for a podium. But of course the tire situation may render any gain a moot point.

.

I realized you've said you don't subscribe to tire conspiracies (or plot, for our friend Twerk) but I submit to you Iannone's crash and others today are related to yet again a new front tire that they must 'test' in a non-testing environment. Putting the riders at risk, and indirectly causing injury. Marquez mentioned having to find the limits of this "new" tire during the press conference. Let's hope that doesn't cause him injury, as twice now he's got up slow from crashes. (Not just Marc, I hope none suffer injury because of it).

I can reluctantly accept you don't subscribe to the tire manipulation fir effect, but I submit to you, there is a cause-effect of the fact it's being manipulated.

Espargaro reveals visit from race director over Rossi run-in

It's good read that throws up many questions. Thanks to Speed Dealer for the link.

So Webb goes and sees Epsargaro and tell him to be more aware but at the sine time admits he had done nothing wrong. Valeban of course defends Rossis reaction and says that it's all Aleixs fault and he should have more respect. Why go and see him if he has done nothing wrong? Have they gone and seen Rossi who was clearly in the wrong?

It's even worse when you watch fp2 because as it happened they were using the camera from Rossis bike and he was never impeded, never in danger and had plenty of room.

Exactly. It's his home GP, friends and family there, not to mention he is after all a racer, sanguine type A personalities. He crashed out of his previous race, likely wants to wash that taste out of his system. Look at Miller, he shouldn't have raced Silverstone either, and he crashed again. These guys aren't like us. Iannone being Italian on a ducati, Misano is like putting blood in a pool to a shark, he practically can't help himself. He'd rather risk being seriously hurt than missing this race. Frankly, that probably doesn't go into his thought processes, they can't really race thinking they're gonna get hurt.

For his sake, I hope either his team or someone with independent perspective shields him from himself. I like Iannone, despite his major mistakes. Given he is racing at a track named for a beloved man who took similar liberties with safety to himself and others, I hope the decision to race is made by someone other than Iannone.

This, and not only do they need to strongly suggest he not ride, if he says he wants to go, tell him sorry, YOUR NOT RIDING. Like JP said, a harmless get off could turn into tragedy in his condition. Nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Bottom line: Marquez is - in Stoner-fashion - out-riding the Honda's deficiencies. Pedrosa is riding it at what Dani perceives as the limits of safety and of course - within the limitations of his style and distaste for risk. I doubt it has much to do with Dani's size as in the past. Marquez is a freaking skeleton and not of great stature.

Dude is ripped and a hulk compared to Dani.

Feel a little gay posting beach photo's of some dude, but its well documented how Marc has gotten into the weights

....... unbelievable. The skewed deck has gone off the universe. It's worse now than the SNS era. Now it's not just special tires, it's the whole of the sport's institutions enforcing the will of Rossi.

.... MotoVR. This .... is absolutely ......... What unseen affect and ramifications does this have upon Rossi's performance of it has much to do with confidence, he goes in knowing every possible advantage, from hardware, to media, to spectators, to the league CEO, to its officiating officers in real time are all in his pocket and doing his bidding? Who can compete with that? It makes Lorenzo's, Marquez's and Stoner's championships all the more impressive!

Rossi: "After I say to him, I say to him what to do, and he [Aleix] says to me '.... you'."

I just became an Aleix Espargaro fan.

Rossi is just pissed Aleix won't tow him around like Viñalez.

Rossi is beginning to meltdown again in my opinion. Starting the same kind of .... as he did last year is not a good look.

I'm sure the most ardent boppers will figure out a way to rationalize and defend his behavior on the circuit towards Espargaro, but it's more than obvious he enjoys a blatant favoring by Dorna.

Mike Webb is one of the most gutless pieces of ...., which naturally makes him perfect for heading up Race Direction as he will never do anything to VR. If anything, this explains why Rossi was not black flagged at Sepang. Nothing is ever really his fault.

-Biaggi
-Gibernau
-Stoner
-Lorenzo
-Marquez

All of them were blamed as opposed to Rossi.

And people still question that Saturday Night Specials, brokered tire changes, brokered team changes, and general favoritism exist for Rossi?

LOL

Rossi more or less admits to following the Suzuki's for a tow. These other riders are getting fed up with the inequities of the sport and the Diva known as Vale. AE tells him to .... off, and Marquez tells a reporter who was trying to draw him into another Sepang discussion this week.

Marquez, however, did not want to get drawn in to such a debate. "I'm not going to talk about that and I don't care what Valentino thinks or says. I know very well what I did every time," he said.

Watch if more and more dont start telling him the same thing. By the end of next season, i predict his relationship with his new teammate will be well on its way to toxic. The dude is a ......... pure and simple.

It will be interesting to see if Vinales lasts the two years at Yamaha. Actually, when we hit the off-season, we should start predictions topic on how long it takes before Rossi is trying to turn the public against Vinales.

Judging by that picture I would bet the 59 kg listed for him is b.s. He looks more like 69 kg. I kinda doubt the Lorenzo number. I bet he is closer to 69, too, if Cal is 70.

Rider KG - CM
Dani 51 - 160
Cal 70 - 170
Marc 59 - 168
Jorge 64 - 173

Well, Rossi is enabled. His experience is unlike anybody else. He exists in a bubble. No wonder he thinks he's entitled and infallible. May I quote Herve Poncharal, "Valentino is our Emperor."

Mike Webb: Hey Alex, what the ...., watch it out there!

Alex: Did I do something wrong?

Mike Webb: No, but what the ...., watch out!

Alex: Did you watch the video? Did I do something wrong?

Mike Webb: Yes, I watched the video from untold angles and scrutiny hoping to find one ioda, some minutiae, I didn’t find anything to stick on you, God knows i was trying, why else would I walk over here to see you. So, No, you didn’t do anything wrong, but hey, what the ...., watch it out there!

Repeat 3 times. (No, literally, Alex asked Webb 3 times and got the same reply).

What craziness is at work here?

So, Rossi:
"It's better to say .... you than to say sorry"

When he was the one with the middle finger waving around while Aleix was raising his hand in an apology remark.

Class.

As others have said, this is utterly ridiculous. Mike Webb (Race Direction) acknowledge that Aleix did nothing wrong, but give him a telling off anyway?

I remember about 15 years ago I was at a kart race and in practice a yellow flag went up. So I slowed down a bit and going into the hairpin where the flags were I was overtaken by a kart, then overtaken by another kart exiting the hairpin. After practice I GOT CALLED TO RACE DIRECTION as the other drivers complained I had slowed down too much. It was unbelievable. Just as above with Aleix, I was told I had done nothing wrong, but maybe @don't slow down as much under yellows"...so I simply asked to have it in writing that I didn't need to slow down for yellow flags and guess what? They wouldn't do it. I told them I will continue to slow down and if anyone passes me under yellows in future I will crash them off.
