Well well!
Wet races require skill, judgement and a bit more luck than usual. This wet MotoGP race, albeit not really like the (fantastic) 250, was spectacular.
1. I'm happy for Stoner and Ducati. A long-awaited, deserved win at Ducati's home track.
2. Lorenzo rode brilliantly on the dry, however his crash during the alignment lap, awful start and only average wet performance shows he still leaves something to be desired.
3. Rossi (and/or Rossi's Bridgestone technician) made the wrong choice of slicks (hard front and rear!). Strange choice indeed with only half race left, and the track still cold. As a result Rossi lost 4-5 positions in 1 lap, immediately after changing bike. He still managed 3rd--after all, his best result ever in a wet/dry race. Damage-control and some regrets.
Romantic hero of the day: Capirossi.
Dark horse who could even have won a fully wet race: Melandri.
Bad luck for Pedro. The big bikes may just be too big for him.
A championship with three contenders now. With Stoner on top.
