I came across it during a stupid ....... management workshop I got sent to years ago. So that definitely tainted my view of it from the start, plus as a concept it's hardly new. But at least DK put some data behind it.
As for Nobels, my sister works in the same field as the latest Australian winner for Medicine. Reckons he probably would have been recognised earlier if he wasn't such an abrasive prick.

I know people who were in Gus Nossal's year in medicine though who said he was a terrific bloke who still turned up to their 50 year reunions or whatever.

I actually don't need Cliche to humble me whether or not I am the one between us solely in need of humility; I can just look to family members for that such as a niece with first author papers in both Science and Nature before she turned 27, making my talent for performing in examinations several decades ago fairly insignificant.

I do have a fairly strong belief that management theory is largely nonsense which it would seem you share.

People might enjoy different aspects of the spectacle. For me the nature of the bikes don't do a whole lot to improve the show.
Ask the people at the track and in front of the tv. Are there 10% that couldn't care less about the bikes? Tell you what,i guarantee you there is a healthy 30% solely concernedwith the rider (s).

Too bad thats still a minority but the way motorcycle demographic edges ever closer to casa tranquila it will become more of a niche sport. And in that imo inevitable scenario there needs to be a bigger emphasis on sport and entertainment and less on how the bmw s1000rr is the best bike right now because of gp.

Thats cool mikey, thats the closest you've come to admitting being at fault without being nasty in the same sentence. Thx for the levity my man. What you're doing is cute and honestly reminds me of my 12th graders . heard a concept, try to mention it as often as possible (intellectual badge of honor) and somehow twist it so it applies. Whatever my manifold deficiencies, attempting to practice cod psychology by internet is not among them, and I actually am sufficiently informed/educated to have a position on that.

If you are a teacher that is an admirable profession, two of my admired siblings are teachers, English teachers as it happens.

Because I am obssessive about grammar and syntax, to a large extent making my living from writing, and prone to error in those things at 3:00 am in the morning. I don't change anything material, particularly if I have been replied to.

This whole thing is an example of why I have, wisely it would seem, previously refrained from engaging in flame wars, because I would get no satisfaction from humiliating you even if I was capable of doing so, a capability I am not claiming btw.

Despite your posts mostly containing personal insults, I have directed very few at you, and in my conceit and arrogance have been amused to watch you run both sides of the argument. Telling you I was old and fat after you offered a truce was an obviously failed attempt at self-deprecation, but you chose to omit that part and sig "I am large and strong", it would seem as an example of my arrogance.

I would be happy however to go back and repeat my support for someone whom I regard as a friend (I think he might also be an English teacher btw) against him being called a whoremonger, and ironically Mdub's and JK's main beef against Keshav is exactly what you accuse me of doing to you, ie that he constantly condescends to them, although I have not as yet followed you to an entirely separate forum to continue doing so.

My politics as it happens are both similar to what they were when I was 25, and it would seem similar to yours, and it was his racism that made me particularly abhor the most recent previous conservative (EDIT Australian) prime minister, who was quite the young fascist even when he was 19 when we were contemporaries at university those several decades ago. In regard to punk you seemed to be implying that the punk musicians had sold out, although I am reluctant to draw any implications given the web you have spun from implications, mostly not intended by me, that you have drawn from my posts. I think for many of the bands it was mainly showbiz, and I have no problem with those who continue to perform 40 years later because they enjoy it. I was obviously on board with the anti-Thatcherism of course, and I don't think guys who did have genuine political convictions like John Lydon and Joe Strummer ever renounced them.
