MotoGP 2011: QATAR

Stacey Coner for the win. If he doesn't bin. The chances are slim. That he won't win.

Now that Casey has a motorcycle that actually turns corners I think that his racecraft will improve. Or at least our perception of his racecraft will improve. That is, if there happens to be anyone else that manages to keep up.

1 -Casey Stoner – Repsol Honda Team – Honda RC212V – 1’55.752

17- Toni Elias – LCR Honda MotoGP – Honda RC212V – + 3.335

Can some one tell me what Elias is doing back in motogp? Give the seat to Jonathan Rea .............

Simple...Dorna

One could be forgiven for thinking Elias would be closer after last season, that Honda and his experience in the premier class, however in such a small field 3.5 back isn't even in the same category....

Agreed! If he doesn,t get his .... together were gonna see some lapping this year.

I must say that Im for 1 very suprised at how poor he has performed so far.

Thought he,d be much further up the grid or at least keeping up with the two rookies

I hear it's going to be crowded this year. Get there early so you can park

your camel close to the exit gates.

Must be all the Bahrainy fans come over for the weekend......

Johnny Rea needs to win WSBK to get into MotoGP firstly....

...and second Elias is a MotoGP race winner, he is among the few that can say they beat Rossi head to head turn for turn (in one of the best race finishes I have ever seen)....and he is also Moto2 champion....OH...and He is Spanish....

Great riders can adapt their riding style to the bike. Toni Elias lack of ability to change his style shows he is clearly only a good rider. Good gets you 3+sec back in a field of great riders.

Actually he has the cut down version (4/5ths) of Stoners 2006 bike, so its no surprise.

Holy smokes that Casey Stoner is impressive.1.55's on every run on the same hard rear tire.

I think he'll get the laprecord doing 1.54.5 !

As said,he is probarbly capable of going plenty faster than he's done in tests or at FP 1 ,just doing what is needed to stay on top,in almost total control.

I'm expecting Lorenzo,Spies and Pedrosa and maybe Simoncelli and Spies to keep up with in 0.5 sec. and maybe they'll be close but Stoner is running away making no.6 to 17 very far behind.Maybe Rossi can be 4th or 5th in practice and qualifying but I think he'll get tired by the final 5 laps on Sunday.

I hope Hayden finds something.

Interestingly - Spies did his first day of FP on two tires he knew were not suited to the track.

And he did not do a tire change the whole day - and he's still running faster times than Lorenzo.

With the right tires mounted - I think we can expect some excellent results.

"The biggest surprise of the day came from Mapfre Aspar's Hector Barbera. The Spaniard rocketed to the 3rd fastest time of the day at the end of the session, causing quite a few shocked faces. The truth of the matter was that Barbera's speed was entirely borrowed, the Spaniard employing his usual modus operandi of catching a tow to set a fast time. This time the victim was Nicky Hayden, and he showed his gratitude to the American by backing off in turn 2, and blocking any chance Hayden had of improving his own lap time. Barbera is not endearing himself to anyone with this behavior, and should perhaps be awarded the soubriquet of The Trailer."

Just when I was starting to like him.

Hi Pigeon.

do you have any live feeds for this race, and the free practices?

Finally we made it to the new season again. Casey is on top of it. bu what happened to Lorenzo, in Qatar he has finished behind Spies, in all the trainings so far.

I hope/think we will have at least 2 other riders joining the aliens. Simonch and Spies are there about already.

bring it on. fortunatly no revolutions in Qatar unlike Borain.
