MotoGP 2011: QATAR

Given that Lads original post was pretty obviously tongue in cheek ........ I think the bold bit describes how your massive rant about everything ( and yet nothing
<
) may have just taken the award for that described in the bold bit.

unless your reply to Lad was also tongue in cheek .............

in which case some of you guys may need to do subtlety with a sledge hammer from now on

too many people on here with an irony deficiency Baz

And maybe it doesnt, and is using it as an excuse to save the reputation of himself and Ducati. It will be interesting to see who ultimately falls on the sword.Maybe after this year, Rossi will claim that the shoulder is forcing him to retire, saving face for him and Ducati.
<

I figure he will retire before the years out, especially after a couple of crashes on the pig.

You'd also think, the GOAT, even with busted shoulder, and especially with factory bike would be fastest Duc on the track, but, you'd be wrong.

NO WAY STONER WOULD EVER LET BARBERA OUT Q HIM!!!!

everyone getting there panties ina twist.... its race 1 and ok rossi times are not so good but give the guy a chance.

tomorow is another day and i think he will do ok.

riding the yam is not as hard on his shoulder, the ducati front end shakes like crazy coming out of corner or did everyone fail to see that...... i think thats the prob for his shoulder

i think if he can find a better setup to smoothen that out he could do more laps.

even if he did have the pace he wouldnt be with the hondas, and i dont think casey would have taken pole today if he was still with ducati.

its hard to say if the ducati is as good or worse than last year without seing stoner onit.

Whos fault is it, if its worse than last year? Rossi, Burgess, Ducati engineers.I assume Rossi is being listened to when it comes to development direction. I personally think the bike is fundamentally flawed and Stoner just rode around it, something Rossi doesnt seem to be able to do.

I think the shoulder thing is giving him very genuine problems, more so because of the way the bike has to be ridden, as was the case with stoner's scaphoid injury derided though he was for that at the time. Riding this thing fast involves wrestling it on the edge of losing it all the time, very different than rossi's recent riding style as the ducati is very different from the bikes he has recently developed. This wore casey down eventually, and imo is one reason for his smiles as soon as he got on the honda, even apart from his prospects for success. Good as jorge lorenzo is, I think his riding style would be even less suited, and casey probably knew this. I still think valentino can adjust his riding style eventually, seeing he can do anything on a bike, but his problem as he and jb have more or less said is that if he develops a bike according to his current limitations it may not be the right direction for the ducati long term. He and jb can be patient as well; as I recall in 2007 when an extreme bike like the ducati looked the way to go he insisted on not changing the direction of development of the yamaha whilst applying the cattle prod to yamaha to get their engine guys to up the power.

I think if stoner wins this race and does well early in europe he will be hard to stop, and am unconcerned about him looking to be on the edge in his fast laps; he rides best when he is confident and rides like this, and the honda does not look to have the problems either of extreme difficulty with getting the recent bridgestones to operating temperature early in races or the necessity to be in front from the get-go because it is difficult to pass people on a bike that won't turn. Conversely if he has dnfs early in the season he may get down on himself and things could go badly.

Rossi injured his shoulder prior to the 2010 season. He complained of a lack of rear grip but JB told him the data said he was braking early, and then trying to apply the gas earlier. JB told him the data suggested he was compensating for the shoulder injury. If Rossi would have played it smart he would have had the surgery last year when he broke the leg and took the remainder of 2010 off to heal. If he would have went this route, he might be having an easier time taming the beast that is the Ducati.

But as usual, hindsight is only good for giving yourself an ... whooping, while others are whooping your ....

Hahahahahaha..... In Yo face Rossi Boppers, where u at? LOL.

I just hope Hector Barbera can hold off Rossi and be the first Ducati to cross the finish line cuz if he doesn't I know all the stupid Rossi Boppers would be saying how the Ducati is a slow machine but at least Rossi was the first Ducati to cross the line. These Rossi Boppers will take anything right now.

Go Hector Barbera !!!

Yeah getting beaten by Barbera would be much worse than binning the bike on lap 6

Well yes it is a problem for the "Fairer ..." so they say, at certain times. Perhaps you should post an emoticon of a big lump of dripping red steak, or a bowl of "Special K" for them next time so they can tell that what you have written will test their "irony deficiency"

TWas not really lost though, I suspect Talpa did at least "get it"

Where do some of you come up with this stuff?

Road racing world march 2011 Nicky Hayden interview.

" as far as the chassis goes, Valentino thinks we need to go softer and that is the direction I've wanted to go since I got on it; it's always felt too stif to me."

As far as "there is no place like Honda" from same interview.

"yeah , the year I won the title was Dani's first year in the HRC team and I never been shat on more than I was that year"

I....just.....typed.....that.....flex-loving.......Rossi.....appears.....to.....be.....rebuilding......Hayden's.........2009.........chassis..........derivation.

Hayden's chassis derivation was scrapped for the all new GP10 big bang. Hayden figured out how to ride the GP10, and he was in the slipstream of podium contenders all season. Hayden was looking forward to improving the bike with Rossi. He is currently backmarking while the standard bike runs circles around him. The normally talkative Hayden is tacit. The determined wold champ looks distraught. What does that tell you? He's happy with the chassis b/c it is soft? I think the irony is killing him.

You read: "yeah, the year I won the title was Dani's first year in the HRC team and I never been shat on more than I was that year"

You infer: Hayden doesn't like Honda b/c they shat on him

He implied: Everything was cool until Puig and Pedrosa hijacked my team

Normally, my complex arguments are responsible for communication breakdown, but I'm quite happy that this communication breakdown is not originating on my end of the line.

im saying

rossi 3rd or 4th tomoz if he keeps upright

laugh all you like if im wrong then im just wrong it wont be the end of the world

If Rossi is in a scrap for 3rd or 4th, especially with super gorilla, the ape will run him off the track.

Doesn't matter if he does, people will start talking about Stoner's Ducati debut
<
.

I think his race pace will be good. I reckon Spies might take the final spot on the podium ahead of Lorenzo. Rossi to finish 5th or 6th.

It was the British GP (Round 9) when he got his first win in 2000, at least according to Wiki.

I don't remember much from Rossi's first year in the 500's, except that KRJR won the title and McCoy was awesome to behold.

Whatever else, the guy is a pure racer, this is eminently possible, and I am sure he will worry about his shoulder less when the adrenaline cuts in if he gets a whiff of the podium.

Also, lorenzo is obviously a good chance for the win as he comes on strong at the end of races, particularly if dani's late race fades are honda related such as fuel economy issues rather than dani related. What applies to lorenzo somewhat applies to spies as well, although I think (perhaps wrongly) that it is too soon for him as yet.

Well given the past, and Rossi's comments, thats what it is all about.

Good point to remember for sure, I'd nearly forgotten how well Stoner performed under the same conditions

Given how tight valentino seems to be with bridgestone now, maybe there is a chance of them producing something closer to the old ducati tyre, in which case stoner's settings are probably the way to go and the front end problems may resolve.

For the factory Ducatis to be back with the grid-filler and behind the likes of Barbera - yes, it is worse. Whether its qualifying or race day, that team is in MotoGP to be seen as a contender. Right now the Ducati racing image is taking a beating, finishing 6th makes crappy advertising copy.

Yeah it will be interesting how this whole thing works out, financially, for Duc. After 2007 Ibelieve Stoner had got them into the black
<

It was suddenly ok to own a quirky bike that could be fast "if you were man ( or loony ) enough to ride it". Tim will tell but its kinda scary for Duc. ATM.

Probably why some of the "bigwigs" at Duc. were lamenting his leaving and their poor judgement on the not paying him enough thing.
