I don't believe any strokers will be running head to head with the 600's next year Frost, although in common with the move to the four strokes with the advent of the Moto Gp class in '02, they will be given the option to do so.
If they do and I am proved wrong, they certainly won't be factory efforts, and I wouldn't have thought there would be much money behind the teams concerned. It may be cheaper to run the new 600 bike, after all that's the idea, the rev restriction will go a long way towards this.

As far as I know, and this is eurosport again, there are at the moment no 250`s entered for 2010 so far,but thats just from the eurosport team .It`s possibly true.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (DRILL @ May 3 2009, 07:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>The Eurospert team did say there was a rumour of the crankcases being recast to accept a cassette type gearbox which makes sense as the cases cannot be allowed to be the same as WSS bikes or they will have the lawyers from WSBK on their case, just something Julian Ryder mentioned so maybe its not all bad,I don`t know.
Also had think on who is going to be building the chassis,so far I`ve got Harris,Bimota,Ilmor with the MGP frame adapted to suit and money permitting,Kenny Roberts.Point is it may not be as dull as people are expecting ,don`t forget we`ll have riders coming from here there and everywhere now that it will be more accessible-an easier way into the premier class maybe?
Do you remember the report at Valencia that the Ten Kate guys were playing with a new crankcase pump. They were ordered to remove it by the WSS officials but maybe that was some testing for things to come in Moto2.

From the MotoGP website, "The prototype bikes will make their entrance to the World Championship against the current crop of 250cc machinery, which will run alongside the class in an arrangement similar to that made for the 500cc/MotoGP switch in 2002."
I don't know which, if any 250s will be running but apparently they are welcome...

It costs a Million to actually run an Aprilla 250 for a season and thats leasing the bike only,You can`t help but think that they have priced themselves out of it with the cheaper running cost`s of Moto 2.Be nice to see them run together though.

Hey Arribb this time it was me reading the posts backwards! Sorry.
Aprillia has been making hay leasing out bikes for a number of years - it would behoove them to drastically lower their rate(s) and slap Dorna upside the head with a few 600 killing 250s.

They say the engine will be stock derived, so do you think thay'll recast the cranckcase to separate the gearbox? I doubt it. Even if they do, the point of excessive weight (and width) is going to remain. A true prototype 400cc V-twin obtained from a slice of a MotoGP engine, mounted on a current 250 chassis, would make a real GP bike and trash these Moto2's any day of the year.

i agree with this but it would cost an arm and a leg to split and produce these motors and thats defeating the object of the change.....would be fun to see it happen though.

I think its a coup... no matter what rider/team wins on a particular weekend or year Honda can advertise that they have the world's best 600cc motor. How do Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki let this happen?
honda have to have sone glory somewhere. Its not as if they can build a championship winning 800 is it

YEah but there are a few others in the mix. There was KTM until this ........ series has come about. I also say there is the spirit of competition between manufactures where now there will be none. I could care less who the makers are as long as there is the ability to come into the series with a bike. .... this one tire one engine horseshit. GP racing is becoming a Joke.

When GP racing becomes a complete debacle then I will start a new prototype series. Plus I will invite all the beer and tobacco companies to enter into the thing. We can all use stupid symbols and .... to sidestep all the ....... that think that their kids actually listen to Joe ...... camel.
