<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I've been thinking the same thing. Could this be the end of the Spanish and Italian presence/dominance in the lower classes? Judging from the current 600 WSS field, the Brits and Aussies have some outstanding 600 riders. Will they even get the chance to ride in Moto2, racing is all about where the sponsorship dollars are coming from. Will we see an exodus of riders from WSS to Moto2 or do you think it will just be the same players (riders and teams) that we see now?
Obvious comparisions will develop between Moto2 and WSS, and it will beg the question which is the better series?
I really want to believe that Moto2 will be the greatest series on earth, but it has some fundamental flaws. The biggest problem in Moto2 is the single engine rule. For right now, there is no manufacturing money running through the Moto2 class. Rider salary will be paid by privateers.
Lack of manufacturer salary is a huge stumbling block b/c the major riders rely very heavily on Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, or Triumph paying them big bucks.
I'm hoping against all hope that the Honda engine will serve as a "control" engine and other manufacturers will be allowed to make engines that are similar but do not significantly exceed Honda's spec.
Since the governing body can tweek engine power by using a control ECU for each manufacturer, they should be able to allow many different variations of engine including triples or twins or others without having ugly parity disputes as found in the AMA or WSBK.
Without manufacturer bonus money, major riders will be enticed to stay in WSS, imo.
I'm not sure how the prototype tire will work. The Moto2 bikes are going to be pulling 3gs in the corners
No TC is going to be absolutely amazing.
At this point, I'm willing to accept control ECU's in MotoGP if it means no TC, no fuel limits, no displacement rules, more engine config variation, and decent racing.
BIKES IN THE REAL WORLD ARE NOT LIMITED BY DISPLACEMENT.
Actually, I just want a top speed limit with a control tire, but unrestricted engineering freedom will never be allowed in a European series.
I wanna see so many bikes in GP that they have to split the classes into sub classes. I want each race weekend to have at least 5 or 6 races. After decades of shrinking grids they owe it to us.
