istanbul was like barber .. elias changed lines like eslick and pushed rossi (herrin) off his line ..
Watching the Rossi/Elias incident again, reminds me of Rossi/Lorenzo at turn 5 in the tunnel at Motegi. Elias is coming across on Rossi, which causes Rossi to pick the bike up to try and avoid contact, but they touch anyway. Rossi is then forced wide and has to give way; much as Lorenzo did. Fairing-bashing going into a corner is always more dangerous than exiting a corner because the speed is usually higher, and the bikes less stable under braking, but any kind of contact can be dangerous. I don't see why Elias should be hung, drawn and quartered for this incident. Race direction didn't have a problem with it; and Rossi--for all his complaining about it--didn't really either, since he or the team never lodged a protest.
if you look closely when that happened in istanbul rossi almost fell but saved it
that means [elias] trying to overtake went in wide and took the other riders with them
Rossi almost falling wasn't because of Elias, beyond the fact that they were fighting for position! Rossi was carrying too much speed into the corner, because he didn't want to concede the pass. He was trying very hard to stop and turn, and was lucky not to crash. He should have given way to Elias on entry, then retaken him after Elias had run wide into the corner (which, btw, is exactly what J4rno (and Schwantz) suggested that Stoner and Lorenzo should have done in their battles with Rossi).
but it's just normal for the one who loses to be angry.
check rossi's comments after catalunya 2007 .. that was a great battle too. maybe after all these years rossi has learned to lose and accepts it, because he has many wins but also many defeats. jorge doesnt have that
Very true. But Rossi (usually) has PR skills Lorenzo can only dream of (and he clearly does dream of them). As I've said before, if a rider has a problem with 'hard racing' then lodge a formal complaint; otherwise shut the .... up.
This is what Lorenzo should have said after the race:
"I'm not happy with fourth place, because as a racer you always want to finish as high as possible. Even though we made a mistake today in choosing too soft tyres, I had good pace at the end, and with Rossi slowing in the last laps I saw an opportunity for a podium. It was a great battle with Valentino, who made some aggressive moves to re-pass me. I would have liked to have responded in kind, but in the back of my mind I was thinking of the championship. I look forward to more hard racing like this for the rest of the season, once the championship is secure."
If he wanted to add a little something more pointed, he could also have said:
"It was great to see Valentino bounce back after a disappointing performance at Aragon. As he was able to handle all the hard braking here at Motegi, his shoulder injury hardly seems to be an issue anymore. Surely this means he will complete the season now, and we can have some exciting battles to finish off his time with Yamaha."
