Lorenzo

Keshav, I think there are too many convoluted explanations to excuse Dovi's lack of results in his earlier years. Not so sure either about the Honda being always difficult to ride. Pedrosa started falling significantly behind Marquez in performance from 2016. Before that, he was quite close.

If he didn't think he could win a tenth title he would not contest the championship.

He's weighing up the risk reward ratio and clearly believes any potential reputational damage is outweighed by his chances of winning another title.

All of this is dependent on Yamaha working out the wrinkles and if he didn't believe they could provide him with a winning bike eventually, he wouldn't line up on the grid.

To think otherwise is either misguided, misinformed or moronic.

You think Rossi thinks he is going to win a championship? Are you ........? Rossi is there because he doesn't know anything else, loves the limelight and probably just enjoys going fast. His attitude has changed since the almost title. He knows those days are gone.

No, he's riding around chasing the best rookie title.

If he didn't believe he could win it he wouldn't line up on the grid. To think otherwise is "........" as you so eloquently put it. Why else would he be in a perpetual 'one more year' cycle. He's just hoping the stars will align before father time or injury forces him to retire.

That's not to say that I believe he can win it, the field is too strong and every season that passes his chances diminish.

You're entitled to your opinion (even if I am right:p) - everybody is (entitled that is). The back and forth exchange of ideas is what this forum is about (second to smart guys making themselves feel smarter by belittling the trolls). As to the things people here feel strongest about, I doubt there's been more than a few times that anyone changed anyone else's mind about anything.

My personal disclaimer for not claiming fact and not imposing is "I think..." or "IMO". Of course, you're entitled to your opinion and I can never change it for you. Only you can, as with me. No harm done or intended... really.:boxing:

Lorenzo is considering retiring? Got enough of broken bones and Michelin tires?

Can't say as I blame him the last 9 months have been a raw deal injury wise.

Could make excellent test rider for Ducati. I don't think he would be badly missed on the grid. Talented youngsters are coming. Didn't Marc say the other day it feels strange to be the oldest on the podium.

I'd say retirement would be a mature decision. There are plenty of riders out there who didn't know when to call it quits - and thought they could just keep recuperating from injuries indefinitely - only to find too late, they'd pushed too long and ended up spending their later years hobbled with injuries that never properly healed, to say nothing of endless doctor bills.

Gotta love Lorenzo for his all in commitment, whichever direction that takes.
Loved watching him race.

If he decides this year is his last I think that Quatararo and Pentronas could be in and excellent position. Not keen on seeing Álex on a factory Honda next year who could be the obvious replacement.

As soon as the question about retirement seems like a sensible one, it's too late. The desire has gone.

Time to hang up his helmet.

The stars seem to be aligning for his retirement. He's not having his current difficulties during a period where he's young. Additionally, there's a lot of young talent on the grid and knocking at the door.

His management has recently stated that the retirement rumors are fake, and that Jorge will honor his contract with HRC racing with them until the end of 2020.

And personally I 100% believe it.

You can say a lot about the guy, good and bad things, but he definitely isn't a quitter.

Good,

If management says it was fake then it was fake.
