Correct. Nicky sustained a broken shoulder and tears to soft tissue at Estoril on account of the infamous Pedrosa torpedo. Nicky kept it a secret, which was typical when he got injured. There were several incidents where he raced with broken bones without the fanfare. Broken wrist. Once at Qatar he highsided so bad in practice his back required stiches, he raced.

Nobody has answered my previous one yet regarding the rider with the broken femur which missed just one race. Hint: it happened at Qatar.

Bautista - back by Portugal

Injury: broken femur during practice. Missed one race.

Still waiting for answer.

Here's another one. (This one is for the old geezers here.)

Injury: broken forearm, and for good measure, dislocated hip.

Name the rider:

Correct.

Alvaro sustained a broken femur at Qatar. Returned two races later. Without the fanfare of exclusive articles and pre-shows exclaiming his heroic.

You'll know my next question above too. Not saying you're old though....

I was trying to stick to broken bones because that seems to be the only praiseworthy injury for the media these days in terms of glorious comebacks, but Ben Spies pinched a back nerve once and raced.

Ok, here is an easy one; broken ankle. (There are multiple answers for this one, so I'll add caveat, raced at his home GP.)

And used the correct hand too.

There are plenty of comeback stories in GP, you may recall Alex deAngelis fighting for his life, to which I remember at least one member saying, he will never race again at a high level. Thankfully that was the wrong prediction. This next one is for the real old old guys.

Injury: coma

Name that rider.

Uncini?

Are you guys saying Rossi coming back 3 weeks after breaking his leg is not heroic enough for you guys? What a tough crowd!!

Correct. He was hit in the head by a bike. Put him in coma.

Aw Mang, that is not the point of this exercise, but rather the disproportionate grandiose sense of heroism assigned to Rossi when frankly the sport has almost routine examples of riders coming back from extremely limiting and painful injury. I also imagine injuries to the wrist, shoulder, and ankle, particularly soft tissue damage are far more debilitating in regards to the task of motorcycle racing. Then there is this notion that in the absence of an xray, the injury may be faked. Contract the media tone and narrative from previous examples to the frenzied tone now. It's as if everybody else's injuries and comebacks are not noteworthy.

Without looking this up, name the rider:

Injury: multiple fractures of Pedrosa bone .

Hint: went on to podium next race.

If Rossi detached his retina, he'd be out there with a seeing eye dog within 2.
I don't think the seeing eye dog would be necessary. It's a little known fact, Rossi has echolocation capability. Like a bat, or rather, a vampire, sucking the attention from every journalists, program producer, camera man, and pudgy faced men in the paddock.
