I just hope next year is another exciting battle. As long as no one driver dominates it'll be another thriller. Maybe less political crap would be nice. No TC will be facinating to watch also..........

Well, I dont exactly support them, so I cant say I really feel sad about it, but Pedrosa is one of my favourites, so yeah, would have been better if they were stronger. I'm confident about next season though.

Less political crap??? Dont get your hopes up, cause this IS Formula 1
<

I hope to see a great fight for the title next season. I dont even care that much if Raikkonen wins, after all, he's champ now, so its not like he still has to prove that. Of course I hope he'll win, but above all I want to see great racing, and FAIR racing!!

No domination?? I bet you wont mind if that driver would be Fernando

I would love to see a close fight like we had this season (with the same winner

Ok, about next season:

Assuming Fernando will stay at Mclaren, what do you expect?
Who will be better overall?? Will Alonso step up his game and beat Lewis, or will Lewis only get better and better, and beat him???

What about Raikkonen and Massa?? I think it will be close, but I expect Kimi to perform better overall. Massa did a great job the first half, but when Raikkonen had adjusted, he started beating Massa more often, and obviously the last half of the season he scored most points. It will be an interesting battle for sure!!!!!!

Your thoughts please
<

I CANT WAIT FOR 2008!!!!!

Fernando will only stay at Mclaren if he is going to be comfortable. So if he stays he will bat Lewis. If he goes i expect him to be behind next year no matter what the team. Maybe win races though.

Raikkonen will be better than Massa again, probably by more this time. Thats what i think anyway.

Lewis will be a contender no matter what

I'm not too sure to be honest. Lewis is really GOOD, of course he threw the title away, he should have won it, how can someone win the title if he's 17 points behind with 2 races to go??? Well I know how, we've seen it, but it's really weird. I guess it finally showed he was a rookie this season. When it mattered most, he failed. I'm not complaining of course. I think those last 2 races have made him stronger though.

I think, winning the title must make Kimi more confident as a driver. People were always saying he was a car breaker who didnt had it in him to win a title, now he proved them wrong, so it must give him a confident boost I think. Massa on the other hand, will be eager to prove he can beat Kimi, not in a few races, but overall I mean. Interesting..interesting..

Not sure you can blame Hamilton for the gearbox software glitch. Ending up behind Alonso in the first couple of corners was red mist definitely, but that would not have lost him the Championship.

Still, I wanted Kimi to win this one from the off, so I'm

Hamilton will have plenty more chances - just hope that McLaren is competitive next year.

As regards TC, who is the driver out there that most recently drove a (reasonably) high powered car with no TC...

I definitely think Lewis will have more chances to challenge for the title in his further f1 career. He's a future champ!!

I think 2001 was the last season they drove without TC. So everyone who drove that season (and before) are familiar with it. I'm not even 100% sure if it was 2001, maybe someone knows it for sure..???

It wasn't a question as such - the "driver out there that most recently drove a (reasonably) high powered car with no TC" is of course Lewis Hamilton in GP2 last year. Sorry - I thought it was obvious, but maybe only to me.

As far as the last season F1 had no TC, it depends if you were driving a Ferrari or not.
<
If not then 2002.

Interesting, i too had heard it was Lewis' error, but i consider autosport a reliable source. Furthermore its provided me with a more believable answer, not that it makes any difference.

AS for no TC, i think all of the drivers are more than capable and this wont be a huge shake up and gift to Hamilton that some think it will be.

LOL!!
I thought you were talking about F1

Next season will be interesting, definetely. I'd say I'm a bit of a purist, and I despise TC with a passion, as well as any electronics that inhibit the natural talent and flow of the driver.

Overall, I don't think the TC ban will greatly affect anyone, but it will play into the hands of some drivers. Jenson Button should relish in it, he uses very little TC with his driving style and should have no problems. It's just a shame that, most likely, he isn't going to have the car in the season that could be his best chance of a world title, when other drivers around him have to adapt much more, unless McLaren make a late dive for him, but I have my doubts, I get the impression that him and Lewis don't get on too well. I'd say Webber could do very well too. Hamilton and Raikkonen both use a fair bit of TC, but I think they'll be fine.

The interesting one for me will be Alonso. His turn in is extremely aggressive, and without TC there to sort it out, It'll be interesting to see how he fares. Massa and Kubica will probably take a while to adapt I think, they both tend to floor the throttle from what I've seen.

As for the teams, its difficult to see any big movers or shakers with the engine freeze. I'm gonna be a bit more bold, though, and predict a struggle from McLaren next season. I'd like to see BMW challenge for the title, but wins is all we can expect I think. In other words, I can see another Ferrari double title next year. The engine freeze is going to make it quite dull unfortunately, unless one of the other teams makes a quantum leap with their new chassis. I'm also expecting Renault to come back strong, this season was a blip I think. I'd keep an eye out for Red Bull and Williams too, the Newey factor should be even more effective for RB next year, and the new Williams chassis has been enough to keep Rosberg's confidence in the team supposedly. Toyota, well, I've already expressed my views on Toyota.

Most of all, I'm excited to see Timo Glock finally given a proper chance, if this Toyota rumour really is true.

Engine development frozen for ten years

By Matt Beer Wednesday, October 24th 2007, 13:03 GMT

The FIA has announced that the current restrictions on engine development will be tightened to a blanket freeze on all changes for ten years from 2008.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Paris today.

"There will be a total freeze on engine development for a period of 10 years, starting from 2008," said an FIA statement.

"A change can be made after five years but only with the unanimous agreement of all stakeholders and following a further two-year notice period.

"Total freeze means that there will be no exceptions for development of certain parts of the engine, as is the case under the current regulations."

The extension to the engine freeze comes just days after the manufacturers involved in Formula One submitted a proposed engine rules package for 2010 to 2013 that was intended to help reduce costs and promote more environmentally-friendly technology.

The original engine development freeze was introduced for the start of the 2007 season and was expected to remain in place only until a more radical overhaul of the engine regulations was carried out.

I've already read in numerous sources that LH did press a button he shouldn't have. And I mean sources other than Spanish newspapers lol.
<

They actually go into detail and say that a "reliable source from insided the team" told them LH accidentally pressed the Pit lane speed limiter.

IMO it makes a lot more sense that a rookie in a moment of crisis pressed a wrong button than the unrealistic McLaren theory that there was a misterious electronic glitch (that didn't happen in the 16 previous GPs plus tests) and that it solved itself.
<

Can't have been the pit lane limiter I don't think because it took quite a while to get back to racing speed. I heard somewhere that he pressed the button that starts the starting procedure, and something to do with the launch control, which sounds weird to me because I thought launch control was banned.
