HONDA won't dominate in 2007, but they won't be far behind...maybe the 3rd best team again? Ferrari and Renault will be the big hitters for me next season but no-one knows what McLaren are going to be like either. Let's face it, McLaren are either going to be extremely quick again next season or Alonso made a mistake in joining.

That's really the big question. How will McLaren perform? I'm really curious about that. It wouldn't surprise me if they will have a challenging car next season. I don't think it will be as sad as this season. I hope not for Alonso's sake, well actually I don't mind, would be nice to see him drive a crappy car, if someone can be a title contender in a not so good car then he's great for sure. Well, I actually dont have doubts about him being a great driver. You could already see he was extremely talented and driven when he drove the Minardi in 2001.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Orrmate @ Nov 9 2006, 08:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I agree that if you are a great driver you should be able to adapt quickly (as Rossi showed). The thing is, i don't think Kimi is a great driver. A good driver, but not a great driver. imo.

How can you say Kimi isnt a great driver? that is ludacris

Sure he hasnt won any championships but there isnt much difference between him and Alonso. Kimi can be as fast as Alonso if not faster, Alonso's big advantage over Kimi is his consistency but I think Kimi can be as consistent as Alonso. He is the only one on the grid that can match Alonso

MS left because he wanted to, he could have had any seat he would have wanted including Ferrari of course.

I think Kimi is a great driver, fast and consistent, just not as fast and consistent as Alonso, who IMO is the best ever.

It's bad luck for Kimi that he lived in the MS-Alonso era, it's like living in the Rossi era, even if you're really good, that wont be enough, you need to be a genious.

I totally agree that MS left cause he wanted to. I think he could easily stay a few more years and still beat drivers like Kimi and Fernando.

I personally think that FA has to show and prove way more than he did so far to be considered the best ever. I'm sorry, but how can you think he's the best ever?? Do you really think Fernando is better than drivers like Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna?? I realise you said it's your opinion, cause obviously it can't be proven by using facts. I do think he's a great driver and he might be better than Kimi and the others still around, but he really has to prove a lot more to be considered the best ever. I do think Fernando has the potential to become one of the greatest, the guys is really talented and obviously he won 2 titles already and he's still so young.

I'm not sure whether it's ''badluck'' for Kimi to drive in the what you call ''MS-FA- era''. I'm not saying Kimi is better than both MS and FA, but he proved he could beat both of them. Obviously its easy to say FA won 2 titles and Kimi still didnt win one (cause that's a fact), but you got to look at the circumstances as well. Maybe it's ''badluck'' that Kimi didnt finish 26 out of 103 races in a Mclaren, that's 1:4!!! I think Kimi could have won at least one or maybe 2 titles, but the poor reliability during those 5 years is more to blame imo, but...that's racing...

I can't blame him for leaving McLaren. I hope he can show his true potential next season to everyone who has any doubts about him, but it will be hard though, cause Massa won't play 2nd fiddle, which is a good thing.

Sorry Teo but I totally disagree.

Raikkonen is on the same wavelength as Alonso, that's a true fact...rewind to the 05 season and he was challenging him and beating him most races until his car blew up or he lost a wheel. I'm just trying to cut out the biased side of it.

Now that is debatable because when it comes to raw speed Kimi I think Kimi is no.1

I'm a little biased here, but I agree that when it comes to speed, Kimi is faster or at least as fast as Alonso. As with consistency, it really is debatable as Kimi's "inconsistency" stems out from the fact that his car wasn't reliable enough to go through every single race.

That's because he is - and i'm a Kimi fan but that isn't a biased view. Don't get me wrong, Alonso is quick but Raikkonen has an extra gear!

Now you are mistaken between good and great. By great i'm talking about the Sennas, Schumachers, Clarks, Fangios, Moss and Stewarts of this world. Raikkonen at the moment just isn't on par with those drivers.

I do not consider Alonso or Raikkonen to be great, not yet anyway. They still have time to become great.

It just annoys me that in the minds of most people its only possible for Raikkonen or Alonso to win. Remember in 2005? It was supposedly going to be a Schumacher walkover. And what happened? Alonso won. I don't think ANYONE predicted that Alonso would be champion last year, but it happened.

I guess we'll see what happens in Melbourne, I just think that there are more good drivers in this championship than Alonso and Raikkonen.

Of course people did, I did for a start and i'm sure thousands of other people did.

Seriously? You predicted Alonso would be champion.. in 2005?
<
were you on the medicine by any chance?

I knew he was going to be a huge title contender and I knew he could win it over Schumacher seeing as Ferrari had a slump that year. Kimi wasn't far behind but his car let him down.

I did

Actually I predicted Alonso would become a Formula 1 champion in 1999, before he even drove an F1.

I told my friends, who would have laughed off if they had known who Alonso was (that was 1999), now they ask me betting tips.

As far as Kimi is concerned about leaving its a maybe, but we cannot predict when he will leave or any other driver for that matter. Interesting that he considers Teamate Massa to be his biggest threat next year. Be nice to see both Ferraris banging wheels instead of the usual "Ill protect your A$$ and slow everyone else up whilst you gain a 30 sec advantage.

India has been in the pipeline for some time, and with a population of 1.3 Billion residents that matches China, although China only drew 75,000 this year, it has potential.

I am not suprised at that because he did say he isnt going to drive as long as Schumacher did, Alonso said that aswell

Kimi is 27 years old after all, and by the time he becomes a 7-time world champion;) he will be 34. (and that's only if he keeps winning back-to-back titles.
