It is going to be between Kimi and Alonso, hopefully Kimi comes out on top. I wouldnt under estimate Alonso, I wouldn't be suprised if he wins it again and lets not forget Massa, he was outstanding near the end of the season

Getting used to new tyres in a car can't be that hard?

I'm loving the use of arrows here!

I agree, it's what it's there for and it looks more professional.

Why does everyone just assume that Kimi's going to waltz into Ferrari and instantly challenge for the title?

Sorry but unless he's the new Jim Clark, which I don't think he is, I don't see it happening.

Think about it, he's trying to fill Schumachers boots. Schumacher was totally commited to his racing, he would ring the team when he wasn't at a test to keep up with everything that was happening..

Then there is Kimi.. who spends his time away from the track getting drunk and cheating on his wife
<
.. JOKE.. seriously though.. he shuts himself off away from the track.. and thats fair enough.. thats his routine.. BUT.. can you really see the team adapting to his way of doing things straight away?

I personally think it will be between Button and Massa

Kimi Raikkonen in the 05 season was a serious man to watch, and should of won the title if his car was reliable enough...in some races he was skinning Alonso but the same visa-versa also.

Kimi's bad luck in the McLaren has really been BAD! He should be an awful lot better in the Ferrari and with Alonso going to McLaren he is sure to beat him an awful lot. Why do you think Schumacher mainly retired?? It's because he knew Kimi has moving in to Ferrari and he knew Kimi would beat him on the track and he left on a high. If he left next year he might not of been a major title contender at the end of the season like he was this season.

All due respect to Alonso but I feel Raikkonen is capable of going a lot faster...and you also said that Kimi won't adapt straight away to the Ferrari...well neither will Alonso or Kovaleinen or Hamilton in that case.

Please don't patronise me dude

I've been watching Formula One for ten years now and I know that to just waltz into a new team such as Ferrari and instantly be competitive is something that rarely happens. Even Schumacher didn't manage that in '96 when he moved to Ferrari, although admittedly that was in very different circumstances.

As great as Kimi's performance in 2005 was (yes, he did deserve to be champ imo) you have to realise that Ferrari operate very differently to McLaren.. As good a chance as Ferrari have next year, I'm quite certain it will be Massa leading the charge, not Raikkonen. Maybe in 2008.

And yep, I don't think Alonso, Kovaleinen or Hamilton will challenge for the title next year.. thats why i predicted Massa and Button

I don't think Michael left because he maybe was afraid of Kimi beating him. I think MS is still good enough to compete with the younger guys like Kimi, Fernando, Button and others. He proved that this season. He could have won his 8th title. I have to say I would have loved to see Michael and Kimi both in one team (without team orders of course..). I think Kimi is the faster driver, but MS is definitely a more complete driver. I think, when it comes down to tactics and developing cars, MS is better than Kimi.

Anyway, MS wont be there next season. Kimi and Felipe should be a nice duo to watch as well, they both are really fast and obviously Felipe got better and better as the 2006 season progressed. I dont think Kimi should have too many problems adapting to his new team. If a driver is really good enough, then it shouldn't have to take longer than a few races to adapt.

If McLaren will have a winning car, then FA will win races for sure. It all depends on the car, cause I'm not questioning Alonso's abilities.

That's only because he had Jean Todt and all of his side-kicks. We'll just have to wait and see then...

You're right, time will tell. I'm a huge Kimi fan, but I never really thought he was a good developer, I hope he will prove me wrong. Actually I dont care, as long as he will win the title one day

About MS, of course he had the right people around him, but having the right people around you isn't a guarantee of winning. I think he's one of the best drivers ever. He even did a good job in 96 I would say, that year Ferrari was really CRAP!! He still managed to win a few races.

Yes, we all know Damon finally won his deserved title.
But MS really did a good job that season and he almost won in 97, Ferrari was getting better that season, still Williams was the better team.

I think switching teams shouldn't be too big a problem if you're a really good driver.

I think Alonso and Kimi will fight for the title if the cars are good enough.

Oh and IMO Alonso is faster than Kimi (and everyone else).

And saying MS ran away from facing Kimi is laughable.

1. True

2. Possibly, depends if the McLaren is on form this season...Ferrari should well be

3. Alonso is very quick but i'm relatively certain Raikkonen is quicker (no biased comment!!), in the 05 season he was quicker than Alonso in a 1 on 1 battle but it's his reliability that let's him down big style.

4. No-one knows why Schumacher retired, but surely Raikkonen moving to Ferrari had to play some kind of part in it. We all know Schumacher...he HATES losing, and specially to his own team-mate but over the years he's had the experience, driving skills and mechanics etc. Still, there is a lot more for Kimi out there, this is the start of an era!

I agree that if you are a great driver you should be able to adapt quickly (as Rossi showed). The thing is, i don't think Kimi is a great driver. A good driver, but not a great driver. imo.

Currently Jenson Button, although i wouldnt say he was a great driver either.. my favourite driver of all time is Jim Clark.. the one and only

^ Good choice. Out of the old ones that I remember James Hunt was a fav I even had the Lotus toy car with the JPS livery.

Mansall was another Brit that was feisty, and again like Damon Hill should have won more than one title.

MS I would like to think was pushed into making his decision to retire by the Ferrari Bigwigs, to enable them to get Kimi onboard ASAP before Renault got their gritty paws on him.

But who knows, MS is gone and Im looking forward to the new season, should be lots of surprises hopefully in store.

How did i miss hamilton
announcement?

I personally hope for a honda world champion. Afterall this is a
bike forum and a honda world champion is starting to roll off the
tongue nicely. Honda world domination 2007? (They just need to be
sponsored by SONY who then release in one device a Psp, cyber-shot, walkman mobile phone
with 40gb harddrive to complete the take over from
god)
