Ive just been thinking about it, on top of all the unknowns going into this race, if it were to rain as well..

PLEASE RAIN!!

Some rain would liven it up!
Dunno actually.
I love it when it rains, Kimi isnt bad when it rains. What about Massa?? I cant seem to remember whether he is any good in the rain???

Rain or no rain, it's gonna be exciting!!! I can feel it!!

Less than 7 hours!!!!!!!!!!

I always got the impression he wasnt too good in the rain, but in wet testing recently he was pretty quick. He outpaced Raikkonen by 3.5 seconds when it rained at Vallelunga, pretty impressive. Although Kimi might have been testing new parts or something, there might be more to it than meets the eye.

Although he was about 9 seconds quicker than Kimi in the first practice this morning. But even then, Kimi might have been sandbagging. There are alot of unknowns here.

Don't think he was sandbagging. I think Kimi must have had some problem, cause 9 sec is A LOT (whether it was raining or not). I never know what to think about the free practices anyway. It's obvious that Ferrari is strong, both drivers on top in the 2nd free practice, Kimi being 4 tenths slower than Felipe. I did read an article where Kimi said some stuff bout things not being the way it seemed, but tbh I don't think he's sandbagging. I think, so far, Massa has just been the quicker one. I guess Kimi is still adapting. I think Massa is favourite for the pole.

Alonso is good in all weather.

Barrichello is pretty good in the rain.

Dunno about Massa although he's been going well all winter regardless of the weather.

If it rains even just for qualifying rather than the race the grid could be interesting!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RAIN!!!

Kimi looking good.

BMW looking strong, Honda pretty poor ( Must be that awful livery )

Great debut for Lewis sitting in 4th!

Webber also looking good in 7th and the Super Aguri's sitting well in 10th and 11th.

Should be an interesting race here in the Pub at 10.30 a.m

Always nice to see your favourite take pole!!
<

But it's really all about the race. In the end the pole doesn't matter, tomorrow's what matters! Hopefully Kimi will be able to win, I would totally love that, if that wont happen, I hope to see him at least in the top 3.

Great debut for LH indeed!!! I'm really happy to see him in the top 4. I just hope he can make it to the podium, would be great!!!!

I think Webber must be low on fuel, cause he's in 7nd place and DC is somewhere behind (19th I think..damn!!). I think he wanted to end in the top 10, cause he's driving in Australia. Let's just see what happens tomorrow.

GO SUPER AGURI!!!! SA for the WIN!!!!!!!!
<

Really curious about their performance tomorrow. Would be nice to see a SA in the points, but I doubt it to be honest.

GO KIMI!!!!!! GO LEWIS!!!!!!!!
<

Can't wait for the race!!!!!!!

Just a little something stupid I noticed in the bleary eyed early hours of the morning. Michael is gone, but not forgotten, not by ITV anyway!
In the clasification listings, Alonso is ALO, Button is BUT, Kimi is RAI, etc etc. Ralf is still RSC, like last year! No need, he's now the only SCH!

I did not like Michael at all but Ralf is so ..... that he does not have the right to be called SCH!

What a great way to start off the Formula 1 season with a great qualifying session. I didn't stay up to watch it in the end but taped it and watched it first thing this morning.
Kimi Raikkonen didn't even have to break a sweat to secure that pole, he was so smooth and the car worked wonders with him. No-body looked like they would actually take the pole away from Raikkonen, and they didn't!
Fernando Alonso did well considering he claims that he hasn't quite got fully used to the car yet. (Heard that with another champion too ain't we?
<
). Alonso was overlooked by Lewis Hamilton, but still the experience paid off and Alonso got in a quicker lap time, 2nd on the grid is comfortable for him but he really doesn't need any distractions tommorow otherwise Raikkonen will beat him easily.
Nick Heidfeld and BMW Sauber are truly amazing! Looks like the team have finally produced a car that can challenge with the front runners (except Ferrari, claims Heidfeld) and this doesn't look like being a one off either, although the race is a different story! Heidfeld 3rd, Kubica 5th...they can't really ask for more!
Lewis Hamilton...what can you say? Hamilton totally overlooked Alonso and has proven that he is capable of running at a 'front runners' pace and even beating them. The race is a different matter but the guy is cool as ice and i'm sure he's going to do extremely well in that too.
Further down the grid we have the Renaults. Neither really performed brilliantly and Kovalainen didn't even make it into the top 10! Fisichella has got to rely on himself to grab Renault points here at Australia and just hope that Kovalainen can fight his way through the field.
The Super Aguri guys - Sato & British lad Anthony Davidson were truly amazing! 10th & 11th on the grid, can't wait for the race tommorow! SA are proving that they can score the odd point here and there more frequently now and are not just a 'back of the grid' team for all races. Davidson prooved this and shocked the F1 nation!

Team by Team

Ferrari - Raikkonen on pole, unlucky for Massa.

McLaren - Alonso and Hamilton both great, best they could have hoped for.

Renault - disappointing, they look off the pace especially Heikki!

BMW - Good job 3rd and 5th

Honda - shocking!

Super Aguri - Great for them 10th and 11th

Red Bull - Webber good, Coulthard not!

Toro Rosso - where you would expect

Toyota - Big improvement on testing, but expect them to like usual fall down the field in the race.

Williams - average

Spyker - At the back as expected.

Unless McLaren can find more stability from somewhere Raikkonen is gonna run away with it tommorow. You could see the Ferrari was just so driveable compared to its rivals. Should be an interesting race, I still think Hamilton could throw a spanner in the works tommorow.

Should be a great race...was hoping davidson and kovalainen to be in the top 10 but hamilton and kimi up there will do
<

Just thought you might like ponder as to which teams these refer to:

the ugliest car on track
too red
i've got the whole world in my car

btw. It's Räikkönen - think you're gonna need to copy this to your clipboards permanently for this thread
