seems we have a bit of a conflict here. i think gaz is maybe being a little bit optimistic.

Well, is it yes or no?

Gaz says yes, Kropo says no. Ah well, we will have to wait and see at Jerez (Dorna were unclear as usual it sounds).

Btw, the first thought I had was I'm glad Hopper didn't take that ride, but then I remembered, he had two mechanical DNFs at Daytona.

"We have decided to start the championship in Jerez "
and
"maybe they can join when motoGP return to Europe."

Not the same, but close enough. We won't be seeing them before may, earliest.

Thank you Kropo, that's blazing fast! Very cool to have you here.

Only from time to time, whenever I have a moment.

It is good that this forum is still fairly active in the off season which is why I have decided I should welcome posts even from those like talpa with whom I usually disagree, at least he like most on here is a keen fan of the sport.

FB Corse would like to clarify... that the team is not yet inside the MotoGP entry list"
In a rather embarrassing move, FB Corse has been forced to issue a statement 'clarifying' that it does not yet have a place on the 2010 MotoGP grid.

Following a timing test, observed by representatives of IRTA and Dorna at Valencia on Wednesday and for which no lap times were released, the team sent out a press statement titled 'FB Corse in the MotoGP World Championship' which began:

“Dorna confirms FB Corse entry in the MotoGP World Championship.

“Today, Franco Uncini and Oscar Gallardo have given their approval to FB Corse after a full day test in Valencia track.

“After being confirmed as the new entry, the team FB Corse and Garry McCoy have decided to continue developing the FB01 and start the championship in the Jerez round...”

But FB Corse has now conceded that its 'confirmed' place on the MotoGP grid is not actually... confirmed.

Instead FB Corse will need to pass another timing test, this time a full race simulation, before its three-cylinder motorcycle - to be ridden by former 500cc and WSBK race winner McCoy - will be allowed to take part in a grand prix.

This is the latest statement, issued by the team on Thursday:

“The FB Corse Team, would like to clarify, after talking to Dorna delegates, that the team FB Corse is not yet inside the MotoGP entry list following the decision, made by the team together with Franco Uncini and Oscar Gallardo, of continue developing the FB01 until Jerez MotoGP race, in order to be more competitive in the World Championship.

“The Team FB Corse has had clearance to test at any time, before Jerez race. Due to the lack of time before Qatar and Japan race, the FB Corse will have to show a race simulation to Dorna before the first European round, that is the FB Corse main goal.

“Franco Uncini and Dorna's delegate Oscar Gallardo, are very pleased to see the work done by the FB Corse.

“The FB Corse Team, would like to thank you Dorna and Franco Uncini, for the chance given to the team to be part of the MotoGP World.”

Garry McCoy has functioned as a motorcycle journeyman in World Championship racing since leaving Kawasaki’s MotoGP team at the end of ‘03. He’s ridden a privateer Ducati in World Superbike, raced for Carl Fogarty, developed a MotoGP bike with Ilmor, competed in the World Supermoto championship, and ridden a Triumph triple in the World Supersport series. For 2010, McCoy returns to MotoGP on an FB Corse triple as the sole development racer. We caught up with him following his first shakedown test, and you’ll see McCoy on track beginning at Round 3... read the restHERE

"There are some components that are really needed, especially in this class: wheelie control, traction control, engine management system, and the slipper clutch. All these things haven’t been applied to the bike and they’re working on it now..."

mmmm looks like it won't be that fast, but maybe we'll get to see the sliding & bucking McCoy of old which would be a very welcome addition to the otherwise pretty mundane 800 show

Tough gig, but I really hope FB make a go of this.
MotoGP needs more people like this, and I hope they take it to the factories.

excuse my ignorance, but was the last 3 cylinder bike in MotoGP the Aprilla Cube? Talk about a pissed off sounding bike.....apparently the bike had such a bad attitude it tried to bbq Colin Edwards.
I rooting for the FB Corse guys, yea good question slev7n will the be at Jerez this weekend?

Aprilla was way ahead of its time. I only wish they would have stuck in motogp longer to see the electronics tame the Cube beast. I think they were the first with the pneumatic valves.
