Estoril Race **Spoiler**

fp3 was a morning session so track temp would make a big difference there, I'm not sold on this clutch thing as IMO problems like that don't appear & suddenly get better... he got beat.. simple as

I said previously that it is strange for Stoner to run a hot pace during practice and not have it during the race. I prefer to look at other results rather than focus on one meeting. If he has had the pace at previous rounds he been able to battle or run away with it. Why was there a difference here?
He was faster in all but 1 session. With Stoner's consistency and ability he should have been running in the 1'37's for at least half race distance. Something wasn't working and he ended up running times he could have done in his sleep.

Your right he got beat, simple as that. So why does everyone need to say he's full of ....?

so your saying stoner risked crashing to keep up with vale and pedrosas pace, your probably right mate.
<
out ridden plain and simple, stoner was third best that day. its the rider not the bike remember ??
rossi makes up that michelin are not performing, yet we see evidence of shot tyres on camera, even randy was commenting on it. yet where to believe stoners clutch is .....

I dunno what you're arguing about anyway? I didn't say Stoner was GOING TO WIN. I merely pointed out the fact he said he had clutch problems. How the fk do you know if he had problems or not? I believe what he had to say - his manager also said the same thing. As for pushing and crashing, well you'd love him to do that so you could crap on and on and on about how he crashed and how stupid he would of been. The dudes racing for a world championship - he's comprehensively demolished the field this year and you're crying in your pommie milk about it!

yup, got a ticket for this year too but barring a miracle of biblical proportions I can't afford to go

why would i be crying ? vale won !
1st, lap times just to consistent for there to have been any real problems
2nd stoner is known to be a right whinger when he doesnt win, estoril no exception.
3rd stoner fans have said all along its all down to him and not the bike, but now you all change your tune, if there was a problem it was not that serious, just shows he needs the perfect bike set up ect to perform unlike vale.
his manager is hardly about to contradict him ,no is he ?

cheapshot and totally meaningless . pot and kettle comes to mind.

Here is a link to the transcripts of all riders comments post race! Not one single rider congratulates Valentino! So therefore they are all a pack of ....... bad sport whingers!

BTW, how come know one has had a go at Dani for not congratulating Valentino? Maybe I should be the first ... he's a ....... sore losing whinger!

Antfan your comments are so one eyed that you may as well be called cyclops from now on!

As much as I want to see Ant do well, you calling Casey a whinger REALLY is the definitive case of the "pot calling the kettle black"!

dani didn't blame his bike or tyres, just said HE didn't have the speed to overtake on the last lap....it's in here somewhere

So Casey says he has a clutch/false neutral problem (and doesn't congratulate #46 in the post race televised press conference) so we get lots of comments on here about him being a whinger who shows no sportmanlike qualities and BTW, no one believes his reason anyway!

so then we have Dani saying he lacked speed (and doesn't congratulate #46 in the post race televised press conference) ...

What's the difference between the two again ... I'm lost on this one!

ok i will break it down for you.
nobody expect dani to congratulate anybody, dont think it's in his programing.
rossi has always given props to casey when he has won, the first thing casey did was blame his bike rather than give props to rossi for beating him.

Pedrosa not congratulating Rossi, Stoner not congratualting Rossi. Nobody congratulating Rossi! That makes them sore losers, whingers, whatever.
<
Aw poor Rossi. Do you think when Rossi congratulates Stoner he actaully means it, or even gives a .... if anyone returns the courtesy when he wins ??? How much congratulatig did Doohan ever heap on Criville? C'mon gimme a break, the guy was seething everytime he didn't win. Do you think when Hopper congratulates Stoner, he's really thinking deep down 'Good on ya Casey' ??

All Champions get kind of possesive of that top step and they aren't happy when they're not on it. Jeez some of you guys are so naive.

Yeah he's a right royal whinger. Here's what he had to say;

"I'm happy with the result, but we did have higher expectations going into this race, at least to be there on the last lap, battling for the win. We thought we had a pretty good set-up, but unfortunately I started having a problem with the clutch about five laps into the race. There was no engine braking so I couldn't try and brake as late as the other guys without running wide into the turns. It was very difficult to manage the situation and it took me quite a few laps to learn to ride around the problem. Towards the end I started to have quite a good rhythm again, I was getting faster and started to close them down. I felt like I had enough stamina to chase them but I just didn't have the feeling with the bike and I didn't have enough laps. I needed a few more tenths to get on to the back of them but I wasn't to be, we lost too much time at the beginning. Anyway, I gave my all and the team has done another fantastic job all weekend. We've been fast, we had a little problem today, but I think we can come back again next weekend."

whinge, whinge, whinge ... and then whinge, whinge, whinge some more!

I think Rossi DOES mean it when he says XXXX rode an awesome... great ... rode like the devil... & the rest, it's in his nature, nice guy & that's why he has so many fans. Doohan was a different breed as is Stoner & personally I don't like it as much. Nothing naive really is there?

Well as a relative newby here I have read this thread in full and man, some people really do have issues with certain riders don't they?

So Stoner has a mechanical issue and the armchair experts can tell he is bullshitting because the times don't drop to greatly. Obviously I know not of what I speak but I would say that Stoner is 100% correct and truthful and do not see this an an excuse for not winning and just because it was not as 'visual' as tyres do not mean it did not occur.

Then we have the fanboys saying that Stoner is a poor sport because he does not mention Rossi in the interview, oh please, get real. I have no doubt that Rossi did not go away and cry in his motorhome because Stoner or anyone else does not mention him, I doubt greatly he even notices.

As for the race, Stoner rode intelligently as upon realising that he had a problem and was not likely to catch Rossi/Pedrosa he decided to gain points as any racer in that situation should do. A championship is won by points accumulation not by race wins alone so well done to Stoner for that maturity.

Rossi and Pedrosa put on a good show and yes it is about time that these two got themselves back at the pointy end but I have to say that IMO the result was never in doubt as I am yet to be convinced that Pedro will beat Rossi head to head. To me, Rossi knows that he can beat Pedro but I am not convinced that Rossi feels the same about Stoner, nor for that matter about Capirossi (unfortunately we have not seen that this year).

People, these guys are professional riders with massive egos who are living the life that many of us would love to be able to do, why do we persist in trying to destroy that with unfounded accusations about their individual integrity?

For christ sakes, if we have to be so dame condescending to these champions, please have a good look at yourself first as the problem may not be with the rider.

And for what it is worth, I am not a Stoner fan, nor a Rossi fan but a fan of motorcycle racing and I enjoy valid debate and just find the he says/she says mentality is destroying many good forums.
