Estoril Race **Spoiler**

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Keshav @ Sep 17 2007, 04:35 PM) <div class='quotemain'>
Stoner clearly said that the issue was his clutch and all the false neutrals. I was impressed. Despite that, once he adjusted, he left Hayden in the dust and was closing in on Pedrosa and Rossi. Another five laps and he would have had second place. The boy can ride.

Watch him tie it up next week.

lol omg your comparing stoner with hayden! Look at haydens disatorous season THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUR SAYING!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Son of Doohan @ Sep 18 2007, 08:44 AM) <div class='quotemain'>
Rossi's the first to congratulate? Just like he did with Giveupnow?

ROSSI + GIBERNAU HAVE A TERRIBLE RELATIONSHIP!
ever since gibernau realised in 2004 the only way he could stop rossi was to complain that he had been tampering with his grid slot before the race + rossi got sent to the back of the grid rossi has hated him!!
Quoted as saying...he'll never win another race again...+he hasnt =]

here we go stoner fans bring on the excuses.
I mean after you slate rossi fans for pointing out true problems im sure you wont be above still trying to imply that stoner would have won would it not have been for his poor little clutch.

Rossi and pedrosa outrode him 5 x over today.
I wouldve thought more of stoner if he wouldve got up there with them and fought for it, even if it meant falling off .... easy points for the championship me thinks ...

I certainly haven't (and most others as well) said Casey would of won due to his clutch problems. So go back and read the posts mate! As for being ridden 5 times over well I dunno what race you were watching! Falling off, going for a win, while trying to win a world championship, instead of getting an impressive third? What planet are you from?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dannozx10r @ Sep 18 2007, 09:15 AM) <div class='quotemain'>
Your right, it isn't poor sportsmanship but it would still have been better if he had given credit to Rossi & Pedders riding, rather than blaming his clutch.

i totally agree. Stoner must know that some people may think he has an unfair advantage due to all the problems this year + he should have eaten some humble pie for once.

Regarding rossi:
He often praises stoners ride
The last race of the year last year he rode up to hayden on the cool down lap and shook his hand , accepting he had the championship and showing there were no hard feelings. Imagine how hard that would have been for rossi . Rossi said after that race that to lose the title was " a disaster" but he was a gracious loser.

I believe Stoner had a problem. Based on his previous times during the practice sessions he should have been able to run in the mid 1'37's comfortably. It seems to be a rare occasion this year where he has been fast in practice and much slower during the race. In FP3 he did 12 laps in a row in the 1'37's with a best of 137.173. To run that sort of pace and not have it in the race to me says something was up with the bike.

Obviously it wasn't something major, but his race pace was so far off his practice times it is logical (yes logic, weird to see it mentioned here) that it cost him .4-.5 a lap.

stoner said that they will continue to go for wins rather than settle for points . he didnt.

If you can't win it then just drop it down the road? That'd go down real well with the team! "Oh I couldn't win so I decided the best thing to do was bin it!"
Nice logic!

fp3 was a morning session so track temp would make a big difference there, I'm not sold on this clutch thing as IMO problems like that don't appear & suddenly get better... he got beat.. simple as

binning it through being stupid is one thing, but cruising around to keep a mathematical advantage is not racing, and after all we all want to see a race dont we ?

Shows just what I said: It wouldn't have been a sure win for Stoner even if his bike didn't have the clutch problem. Rossis last lap times shows he had alot to give even at that stage in the race.

Stoner was hitting false neutrals but i did'nt see him ever missing a break point and going of track...
He has in mind the championship now.
So he did'nt risk, he just stayed close (easily with the Duke/Bridgestones)
waiting for michelins to worn out, so in the last laps to overtake the two others and go for another triumph.
I think Rossi, after overtaking Pedrosa, slowed pace a little in order to save the tyres.
I believe Stoner made it up about the false neutrals. He finished a good 3rd position, he is almost champion and he does't need to make up these tales.

So he pushes the pace, crashes, breaks his leg and what happens? Stupid argument!

so your saying stoner risked crashing to keep up with vale and pedrosas pace, your probably right mate.

out ridden plain and simple, stoner was third best that day. its the rider not the bike remember ??

ya divvy, wasn't pedders, hayden & all michelin riders saying the same ?? thing is Bridgestone have had it right most races... Michelin have had it right in a few, if they have now found the right compound we're going to see better races & no boring processions & that's taking nothing away from Casey, he's proved he's a great rider, but he hasn't had much of a challenge & he's a miserable git when he get's beat... live with it
