There are some Rossi fans (not all, by any means) who will never accept it when someone else wins the title. They will always find plenty of lame reasons why the winner does not deserve their respect.
Nicky last year, Casey this.

well but I must admit we will never ever have such fun as we did with Val!!!

The toilet scene was a classic!!! The Claudia Schiffer doll, the chickens etc etc!!! Beautiful Memories!!!

Tinks and Roger are turning a gracious Rossi win into a Stoner dig. He wasn't "cruising" around for points as much as Rossi hasn't binned it every time he hasn't won. If you think about this logic for a moment, this means every time Rossi didn't win or challenge Stoner, it was because he (Rossi) was "cruising around" getting points. If that is the case, then Rossi has done this much more than Stoner has this season if you look at the results.
Please, get over it Rossi/Stoner fans. Both racers are trying to win, sometimes there are great/poor performances sometimes there are real mechanical/imagined mechanical problems--try to distinguish between the two.

well i bow to your knowldge about clutch problems mate. you being a hayden fan no all about these. bit of da ja view here.
my point is not so much whether he had a problem or not but how severe the problem was.
the lap time sheet would suggest that it was not that severe bearing in mind all the times we have been told its all the rider"stoner"and not the bike, yet if it's even suggested rossi had a problem its mere whinging.
one difference is tho. when rossi had a problem with the tyre and bits of rubber flying off, we all saw it,well all but you mate.
<
yet with stoner ,like hayden its a bit tucked away out of sight,, ummm de ja view again.
dont ya just love being a "vintage "member jumkie
<

so i conclude. rossi has ..... bike/tyres but comes second stonerhas a wee problem and comes in 3rd, now theres some cheerleading for ya.

See, now this is humor.

(For you new bees, Hayden had clutch problems last year, which spawned many discussions/arguments by Rog and I.) Ah, the good old days.

I know Jumkie will hate this but <strike>anyway</strike>, sorry, because of that, here we go:
Accepting Hayden last year as a the winner that deserved the full and whole respect was difficult.
This year, despite all our exuses/explanations or what ever, most Rossi fans and a huge pile of other fans that had doubts about Hayden, among them a few Honda fans I know will have no problems accepting Stoner as the championship winner that deserve our full respect. He is a winner.

I understand your point but Babel, as a fairly analytical and insightful person, I expect much more of a meaningful comparison between two very different and distinct seasons. So much has changed. And you have been one of the chief persons to point out issues of package/machine, etc all year. Surely you must understand that comparing the last two seasons is tantamount to comparing this season to one in the 90s, or any other era. Look at the multiple race winners last year, surely there was much more of a competitive and closer field of potential last year in any given race. And so on. So yes, sure I think if we were to make a very superficial comparison, then as you say the acceptance of one champ over the other would seem much different. But when you take a meaningful look at the seasons, and you realize that this last race we just had at Portugal for example, Team Roberts was in the mix to win, well you must then consider the significant difference that the new era of 800 has ushered in.

Pfft, Rossi's trying to pull him off his bike and make him crash and break his leg.. "For-a shuure eet waz a meestake to make Cazey fall, but now i think is posssible to win-a the title, ciao"

That's worthy of inclusion in Rising Sun's "Top 10" report!

Totally agree with your comments jumkie, how long did it take the 990’s to settle into the so called perfect season of 2006 (5years) that’s a ratio of 5:1. For god’s sake let’s give the 800’s and all the new rules a chance! Let the teams come to grip with the new bikes, tyres. This season hasn’t even ended! Allot of people here have got short memories when Rossi ran away with the first season on the 990’s, oh but then it was because of Rossi and not because the Honda was a perfect package with the Michelins, the 4 stroke etc etc!

Let’s just have a look at the stats from 2002 which was the 1st 990 4 stroke season:
2002... 1.Rossi 355, 2.Biaggi 215, 3.Ukawa 209,
2003... 1.Rossi 357, 2.Gibernau 277, 3.Biaggi 228,
2004... 1.Rossi 304, 2.Gibernau 257, 3.Biaggi 217, (Rossi on Yamaha)
2005... 1.Rossi 367 2.Melandri 220, 3.Hayden 206,
2006... 1.Hayden 252 2.Rossi 247, 3.Capirossi 229,
