sez you and your aussie mates, rest of the world see it different tho.
stoner = winger
doohan= winger
lots of aussie forum members = wingers
i put it down to good old fashioned aussie arrogance.
you say Australian's are not wingers, well you would say that because you are Australian.
you say calling the English poms is not derogatory, again you would say that, as your not on the receiving end.
when i was younger i very nearly emigrated to oz as i have family there, ....... glad i didn't, i would be in prison by now for genocide.
its all fun tho.
ALL HAIL ROSSI. i watch gp for the races not the championship.
Rog, some of what you say actually is true. Australian's in general DO hate losing when it comes to sport (especially to England in ANYTHING) & if that's poor sportsmanship or arrogance then I guess that we're guilty as charged. It depends on your preference I guess... I expect that you didn't like Mick Doohan either judging by your reference to him as a whinger (5 x World Champion whinger of course)!
In motorcycling, pretty much all of our top riders have had the "killer" instinct but as others have suggested, maybe this is how Australians in general deal with sport at an elite level.
I would think that it'll be a cold day in hell before you see an Aussie celebrate a win like Vale usually does!
A pity that you didn't make the move over to the colonial land though, because:
a. You might have found that we're not quite so bad as you think,
b. The sun exists above the clouds,
c. Beaches are supposed to be made of sand; and
d. That you would've in no way ended up in jail for genocide...
Maybe as a result of indecent exposure, drunk & disorderly, public nuisance from all the fun you would've had perhaps, but I think that the country would have survived your presence!
