sez you and your aussie mates, rest of the world see it different tho.

stoner = winger
doohan= winger
lots of aussie forum members = wingers
i put it down to good old fashioned aussie arrogance.
you say Australian's are not wingers, well you would say that because you are Australian.
<

you say calling the English poms is not derogatory, again you would say that, as your not on the receiving end.
<

when i was younger i very nearly emigrated to oz as i have family there, ....... glad i didn't, i would be in prison by now for genocide.
<
<
<

its all fun tho.

ALL HAIL ROSSI. i watch gp for the races not the championship.

Rog, some of what you say actually is true. Australian's in general DO hate losing when it comes to sport (especially to England in ANYTHING) & if that's poor sportsmanship or arrogance then I guess that we're guilty as charged. It depends on your preference I guess... I expect that you didn't like Mick Doohan either judging by your reference to him as a whinger (5 x World Champion whinger of course)!

In motorcycling, pretty much all of our top riders have had the "killer" instinct but as others have suggested, maybe this is how Australians in general deal with sport at an elite level.

I would think that it'll be a cold day in hell before you see an Aussie celebrate a win like Vale usually does!
<

A pity that you didn't make the move over to the colonial land though, because:

a. You might have found that we're not quite so bad as you think,
b. The sun exists above the clouds,
c. Beaches are supposed to be made of sand; and
d. That you would've in no way ended up in jail for genocide...

Maybe as a result of indecent exposure, drunk & disorderly, public nuisance from all the fun you would've had perhaps, but I think that the country would have survived your presence!

I remember getting flack from some asshats saying that Pedrosa on a similar bike/tire would pass CS just like back on the 250s and if Rossi got some better tires and more powa he'd also stick it to Stoner.. guess I was right.

According to MotoGP.com and Michelin's Jean Philippe Weber, Michelin did not use any new rear tyre constructions.

Funny that you pick on the term Poms which 90% of aussies use as a term of endearment with no genuine malice intended and you appear to at times let this cloud other posts whilst at the same time labelling 'lots of aussie forum members' whingers.

Personally I do not see the Whinger element in Stoner that you seem so engrossed with but the term whinger is a matter of free opinion is it not?

To me, complaining about safety issues does not make one a whinger nor does mentioning mechanical issues that affected your results (and mechanical includes Tyres). Nor do I see reports of Stoner making derogatory comments in the press that could be seen as harming the sport in any way or attempting to exert pressure on those making the rules.

But, I do not really see this in Rossi's comments either although those as reported in Australia have flown close on occasions. And note I have said 'as reported' as that is the crucial element with the media being able to 'tailor' one's thinking and opinion by judiciously editing an article.
Garry

totally agree with this, i myself have in the past been critical of the press for the way they use tabloid methods of reporting to sway our opinion.
after all most of our opinions are based on what we have read rather than what we actually heard the person say .
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<div class='quotemain'>Funny that you pick on the term Poms which 90% of aussies use as a term of endearment
i dont find it endearing. if 90% of white people think it's endearing to call black people ......., does that make it right.
besides, it was the english that were deported to oz that were the poms not the ones who remained in england.
Prisoner Of her Majesty bla bla.
i could name a few on here that most definatly do not mean it in an endearing way,10% mabe

well i must say sundays races, all 3, were excellent! rossi u just can't count him out... ever! great job by pedrosa. tho i must say i think if stoner would have been in pedders place we would have seen another catalunya. pedrosa just does'nt seem to have the fight that rossi & stoner have. not many do really. stoners 3rd was excellent he got the most he was capable of on the day... all hail the new champ! good to see nick up there. great qualifiying & fastest lap. he just made a mistake that cost him what i thought for sure was gonna be 3rd. oh well thats racin! good fight between melandri & hopper. shame we missed most of it. good day for dunlop. ashame it ended in the gravel for em. tamadas last ditch effort to secure a ride? it ended in the gravel. vermullen better get a little more consistent with top finishes. had tamada not crashed & barros motor not blow along with depuniets he'd a been 16th! he's the man at suzuki next year...

Yes Roge...But AlexC was a real no body wasn’t he in the Doohan days!!! Someone trying very HARD to form a cacoon around his legendary so called rides or he was trying so very hard and was going through a metamorphic period that he couldn’t evolve!!! And that was because of a LEGEND like Doohan!!!...

But he tried everything and that was it??? and his attitude was... “either I do it or either I break it”!!! Just like our little hero at Repsol in 2006/07...DaniP!!!..

I wonder who’s running motoGP??? Is there any influence there from the top???

cheapshot and totally meaningless . pot and kettle comes to mind.

Amazing!

I've heard all this before from Tinks and Roger (my buddy). Last year it was the same thing, they would go around saying that they had more respect for those pushing for the win even if that meant crashing to somehow make it seem that Hayden was unworthy of their respect. Well that is stupid. Ask your beloved Rossi what he thinks about this reasoning.

Also, only when Rossi has problems do they believe it. Hell they even make up phantom problems that didn't even exist when Rossi didn't win. All one has to do is look back and read all the post race threads. Go ahead, they are there for us to review. You will see constant excuses about the following two categories: Rossi's tire shredding, Rossi's lack of engine power, bla bla bla. Most of the time you will read me exposing it for the ........ it is. Have there been real problems, yes, but not nearly as frequent or as severe as they would like us to believe,

What's not to believe that Stoner had problems? It was rather obvious that he started off well, faded for a few laps, then charged ahead and ran out of laps. This looks to me like there was some type of mechanical problem. Stoner has shown he is extremely consistent all year. He has not wavered despite some great pressure by Rossi early in the season during certain races. He has been challenged several times and has been flawless. That cannot be said by glaring on track mistakes by Rossi, and other would be a challenger.

Tinks and Roger are turning a gracious Rossi win into a Stoner dig. He wasn't "cruising" around for points as much as Rossi hasn't binned it every time he hasn't won. If you think about this logic for a moment, this means every time Rossi didn't win or challenge Stoner, it was because he (Rossi) was "cruising around" getting points. If that is the case, then Rossi has done this much more than Stoner has this season if you look at the results.

Please, get over it Rossi/Stoner fans. Both racers are trying to win, sometimes there are great/poor performances sometimes there are real mechanical/imagined mechanical problems--try to distinguish between the two.

There are some Rossi fans (not all, by any means) who will never accept it when someone else wins the title. They will always find plenty of lame reasons why the winner does not deserve their respect.
Nicky last year, Casey this.
