Edward to stay in Moto GP

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (V5Stroker @ May 5 2008, 06:07 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Yamaha still needs him to develop the bike..the young kid still inexperience to give feed backs. Tech3 is much much better than last year

I hope that you were joking on Edwards developing the bike. I think we all know that Rossi developed the M1. Colin developed some tyres, that's about it. I don't think that Tech 3 needs him if Rossi stays. Thye should have great development riders with Rossi and Lorenzo. How much development is ducati getting from Elias and Guintoli or Honda from Nakano,Depuniet?

Edwards has long needed to sit down or go back to WSBK.

Yep that unfortunately and even when he got the RCV in 2004 and whilst his teammate the mullet was a full factory rider in all but name he was bottom of the pile for parts? (see how Honda compensated him there)So 2 years before he got a full factory bike he initially deserved,2 years without been competitive did him in me thinks.

So far he's been very fast and had great qualifying sessions this season but in the end it did'nt mean squat, sure he's a nice guy and always great to watch or read his interviews but when the lights go out that counts for nothing, over race distance he's been dropping back and with his experience he's made some lame mistakes but thats racing

I was expecting him to do alot better in China having the updated engine and pole position

I dont care which series he's in next year as long as he's in one of them

It's possible that having children has affected him. Once you start a family then you begin to think about risk a little differently.

I almost gagged when I read the title. This guy is just full of ..... He talks big and under delivers every time. Hopefully someone (Hayden being the most likely candidate) will take his seat from him.

Colon quit while you're behind.

I guess that pole didn't impress you none. What do you think is the problem? Does well in qual then craps in race.

sometimes that can be due to fitness. can bang out a couple of very fast laps with a rest in between proving they do have the skill but cant do it for 20 or 30 laps where mega fitness plays a part. after all he is a family man so has family duties that would keep him away from the gym. just a thought.

Wasn't there another quote from DTK where he mentioned not being particularly obsessive over fitness as well?

Although when he eventually laid hands on the customer Honda, after riding it in testing for the first time, he said he had to go back to the hotel early for a w. Never really happened for him in the end, (the season with Gresini that is).

That comment stems from his first title. He concentrated and focused on extreme fitness but got no where; he then tried a more average approach and won the title. Since then he has tried the average approach to fitness, that is not to say he's a fat diet private, but rather not James Toes.

Nope, not impressed by any one lap wonders from any rider. Colon is a great SBK rider, but he just talks too much and doesn't back it up....ever. He's not a front runner in this field and has proven as much over 5 years. For him to beat the top 5 would require a disaster of Gibernau/Cataluyna proportions. If its his fitness then he's too lazy (which I don't believe). Colon just isn't good on race tyres with a race setup. Every press release is 'I just didn't have the same feeling bla bla bla', just boring.

I'm sure someone will keep his life support going for a few more years, I'd pull the plug now.

Hayden, take his ride, please!

colin the texas tornado is just a slight breeze at the mo ...

the tech 3 yam is not the ride for him in my opinion...he is a honda man...get him a trip on the repsol and im sure the breeze would start to blow....before the GP colin was a unstoppable rider with great results.

not a fan but he shares the same surname so ,,y not
<
he could be related somewhere down the line

Yep and in testing at Phillip island he did a race simulation and was something like 30 seconds quicker than Valentino's race time in 2003.But then that didnt come to anything either.

If Colin stays in MotoGP next year it will be an absolute joke, he is quick at one lappers but in a race he's pretty awful especially seeing as that Yam is nearly as good as the factory bikes now. If he stays next year and denies someone like Spies, Bautista or Kallio a MotoGP ride i'll be fuming.
