@ Stoner

Put the kid under pressure and look what you get!
<

It really goes to show that 12 year olds should remain in school!
<

Ahhh what a nice race that was, so suprised in Elias but yet so pleased
<

Wasn't a suprise that De Puniet binned it though!. . .

Mega happy about Rossi's win!
<
and now that hes got a 50 point advantage over Stoner
<
<

Understandably both broadcasters have other priorities.

well guys and gals i wouldnt say stoner is out of it yet..... vale could bin it just as easy as casey today, it could happen to anyone when pushing the envelope.
i didnt want stoner to bin it today i wanted to see him and rossi have a duel which i think at the end of the race may have happend.

i dont want rossi to fall off or anyother rider but it can happen anytime thats just racing

No probelm, just that the first sentence might have suggested otherwise while the second did men what I thought it did, just wasn't sure :)

I'm glad to know Rossi knows what tires his competitors are running.

As if this sport had one shred of legitimacy left, anyways.

1. Kawasaki sorted their chassis. I'm happy to see them up towards the front. I'm guessing they returned to an 07 flex, that's why Westy liked it so much. Also, the Kwak was lightning out of the turns and slow as molassas in---the same handling as the 2007 bike

2. Firing D'Antin was the best move for Ducati. Now that Alice have more technicians they are capable of making their factory bike perform like a factory spec bike.

3. Why does the greatest racer of all time have to win illegitimate titles? I'm aware there is no honor in slugging it out on Michelins but let's be real--Rossi was handed world championship equipment by the governing body. Rossi turned down a ride at Ducati on numerous occassions, nice of Ezy to bail him out. Where are Hayden's B-stones? He should have taken the Ducati ride as well!
<

If Stoner was running softer tires - could it be that they would have gone off? In the lap before he binned it; he was sliding the back all over the place. Could his tire selection suggest that he was hoping to open up a big lead and coast it home?

If Stoner tires had started to go there is a very good chance that Rossi could have caught him - as it was, he pushed to hard and it made all this discussion irrelevant!

Nice to see Capirossi up on the podium - just a shame that neither the BBC or Eurosport could be bothered to broadcast it - giving priority to Badminton and women's weightlifting...

Please no!...........are we gonna have another bout of conspiracy theory stuff on here?

I'm surprised to see people claiming the race to be a snorefest. I thought it was entertaining!

And I told you Nakano could pull a podium and no-one believed me! He got close already, it's possible that he'll reach it in one of the remaining races. Elias obviously had a great race as well as West and Capirossi of course.

Melandri wasn't too bad with 7th, but looking at Elias, he should have been able to do a bit better.

Michelins were terrible, nothing to add to that.

E: Oh yeah, good job winning the championship Rossi.

& Rossi with a sinus & ear infection too

I do not think Stoner crashed because of so called psychological pressure.

Stoner crashed the way any rider can--because he was trying very hard to win, and that meant he had to ride to the very limit against another super-fast rider.

He had 25 points to recover, what other choices had he, but to try come what may? He took his risks, he did the right thing. He was riding beautifully, he didn't look stressed to me. Pity he binned it, because we would have had another duel at the end, I'm sure.

Rossi scored big time for the championship, but be assured that Stoner is going to be back with a vengeance, already at the next race at Misano, right in Rossi's courtyard. And now he has even less to lose... I'm expecting a very exciting race at Misano
<

Valentino Rossi said that the pressure might of had something to do with Casey Stoner's fall when Mick Doohan interviewed him after the race. I believe so too, watching Stoner try to put a smirck/smile on his face in the garage lead me to believe he was putting up a front, trying to hide his rattled cage.... just my opinion. Chris Vermuelen is a big disappointment i tell you, i really believed he had that something to make it big in Moto GP... but watching this race and how the older Caparossi, near the end of his career, was able to spank him so easily should be an embarrassment to Vermuelen. Anyways... how about Super Shinya with his 4th place run huh? Too bad he wasn't up front early on, i'm sure he would of pass Caparossi.....he was closing down on him in the final laps.

Lets face it Rossi is a legend!!!!!
He has missed out on being World Champion for two years now. Haydon never should have been World Champion, very lucky..............and Casey on the Ducati and Bridgetones was in a different league.
To bring Yamaha on like he has, and also to change tyre manufacturer and loose all race data for this year, and to think where he is now on the championship is amazing. He has brought Yamaha on to match Ducati.
I bet Honda wish that they still had Valentino?????????

He has humour, always makes time for the camera, what a true Champion

But I think we need a 1 tyre rule going forward, it is silly to have such an advantage in any race.

2008.......Valentino Rossi...........World Champion

You can have a world champion who never wins, but always second, or one that wins races???

How many races did Hayden win that year???

Just consistent

The same has Roberts winning the world championship, it happens now and again.

the way i see it casey gambled on a softer tyre to break a gap to rossi and THINING rossi will not be able to pass him or get close if he pulls a couple of second lead. As we know he knows if rossi got in front its difficult to pass him.

Rossi looked very much in control the last couple of laps where stoner was bucking and weaving (but hey thats stoner and duke :) )looking ON THE LIMIT! and when rossi took 0.3 out of stoner he i think just chocked no point looking at the bike trying to think the wheel fell off causing the spin. it was a simplt pressure situation and i must admit rossi or stoner were running at a VERY high pace and it was just who could push hardest and not over. Stoner should know by now that rossi on race day can find a couple of tenths in race conditions.

well hayden did podium 10 times in his wc winning year and krjr 9 podiums in his. hayden having 2 wins 3 seconds and 5 thirds. krjr having 4 wins 4 seconds and 1 third. thats not forget how competitive it is just to get into the top 10 in this sport so the above feats are not to be belittled. this is a very old debate that not many here will be keen to engage in. look back 2 years and you will see this topic was done to death.

welcome to the forum by the way.
