Can Marc do it?

Will he get that 2024 title?

As to my point I don't consider Mir, Rins, Vinales, Miller, or Aleix to be current riders that could win it all this year (perhaps with the exception of Vinales if he can consistently have flashes of brilliance for the whole season, but definitely a long shot).

Rins was leading the championship in 2022 on a Suzuki before having an epic run of bad luck and mistakes. The problem for him is that time is running out. He's 28 and riding a Yamaha. Assuming he can even stay with the factory Yamaha team, 2027 is a long wait.

Regarding Marc, I don't think he can win this year. He has the pace, but based upon the pace of the other GP23 riders, and Marc's recent run of crashes, he's riding too hard to consistently beat Martin and Bagnaia. Jerez was the first time he gained points on both of them. If he can keep that up for another 3-4 rounds, he might have a chance.

I've said for a long time, that consistency is the key. None of the last 3 world champions have shown anywhere near the level of consistency that the likes of Marquez, Lorenzo, Stoner & Rossi showed in their title years. Marquez was subject to unusual circumstances in the last 2 races, his brakes robbing him of a certain podium in COTA, and his crash in the tricky condition Jerez sprint that admittedly was his fault and other riders didn't crash in, but he was still unlucky imo.

Martin and Bagnaia have a GP24 yes, but they have yet to have consistent seasons. This is the advantage Marc has imo. Especially if he signs a factory contract before the summer break as I suspect he will, then he will likely be more relaxed and not push more than he needs to, which may give him a considerable advantage.

I don't think a championship is the goal for Marquez this year, I think he goal is to get a factory contact.
I'll go more so that he wants to enjoy racing again this year. However there were 2 year deals out there that he rejected which suggests that he may have already had plans for 2025
his brakes robbing him of a certain podium in COTA
I read somewhere blaming the brake failure on his style of heavy braking overheating the brakes. Suppose it could be fixed by a change in ride style and/or the addition of a cooling duct directed at the brake or disc

I agree but I don't think any of these riders were slowed down by being a dad.

Its his step sister. His father married her mother when they were around 12. They have been sharing a room since. Giving new meaning to home is where the heart is.
Yeah, they're not biologically related so don't really see something wrong with it.
I guess it would be weird if they had known each other since they were 3 years old.

His chance this year is if they give him the whole of season updates on the GP 23 , the early season 2023 version of which was and is a difficult bike, post haste and he makes enough hay before Gigi inevitably improves the GP 24, enough hay for Martin and Bagnaia to feel pressure later in the season. While of course happy to take the 2024 title if it drops in his lap I agree with others he was not expecting to win it ab initio and his plans are probably mainly focussed on the 2025 season.

Here in Canada you are legally allowed to marry your first cousin, not your biological sister though.

In fact, no European Country prohibits marriage between first cousins. It is also legal throughout Canada and Mexico to marry your cousin. The U.S. is the only western country with cousin marriage restrictions. Children of non-related couples have a 2-3% risk of birth defects, as opposed to first cousins having a 4-6% risk.

Let's see how things go this weekend coming, if MM is in the hunt both days (Sprint and Race) then I'm a believer that he could win it all in 2024.

Seems that Diggia still has a chip on his shoulder about losing his seat at Gresini.

Marc Marquez? “I don’t see him as an alien anymore”

In his defence, he is referring to the fact he can now see his data and see what he is doing. But He still strikes me as a bit bitchy about the whole affair. Lets not forget that he was pretty much a pay rider, with no hope of a MotoGP future until 1. He suddenly found form and 2. Marini left VR46.

I'm not saying he's a crap rider, but Diggia has 1 victory vs 84 for Marc. Maybe calm down on saying stuff like above.

“The very particular thing is that I see from the data that we use gas in a very, very similar way,” he said.

“It's something that sometimes amazes me.

“Being close to the guidance of an eight-time world champion is not bad."

Yes if you use the gas in a similar way you should have no problem keeping up with him.

I think he's the latest VR46 Kool-Aid drinker.

They all think they are close to him, yet none have managed to to do anything that would be considered surpassing him.

Typical clown show. Maybe VR46 should put a clown face on the livery for next season.

Not to point out the obvious, but the common thread with Rossi and his pals, are . . . they want to see more Italian winners and a .... load less Marquez. They'd never admit it, but the Spanish dominance must really stick in their craw. With a still strong Martin and Marquez looking better every race it must be discouraging, to say nothing of Gigi's fondness for guys like Lorenzo and Tardozzi's cozying up with Marquez.

Making pointless remarks about MM seems to have been adopted as corporate policy by the VR46 team with some sort of disparagement now mandatory when anyone associated with the team is interviewed. I guess it will be Uccio next.

Why do they think anyone including MM cares about what they think of him ?. The experience of their principal rather indicates that attempting to goad MM if that is their object is unlikely to help their cause.

Very tired of it too.
The more I hear it the more I dislike VR. I already dislike him a lot.

At this point I don't think he can win the title this year. But I believe he can play a spoiler role depending on how things are looking later in the year in the points battle...assuming there is a points battle to be had this season.
