really... well maybe a few. most seemed intent on giving all the credit to his bike, tires, electronics everything but the rider.

Selective memory Pete?

Really though, I just read Stoner & Rossi's post race comments, and one thing that comes through is they both have much respect and admiration for one another. Something us fans lack unfortunately. But I've come around alot, and so have some Rossi/Stoner fans. The problem is, as is in the world at large, we got are 10% of bottom dwellers.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (#46 @ Aug 18 2008, 06:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>and what just because 5 times MotoGP World Champion says it, it's not a fact.... please

You see what I mean Frosty?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (roger-m @ Aug 18 2008, 07:46 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>bla bla bla.. you still have not answered the question pete asked. do you congratulate stoner on his run away wins ?
Perhaps you should lead the charge for certain Rossi fans to go back and edit a few of those threads where Stoner won and plenty of them congratulated his “bike, tires, engine, electronics, etc”. Then maybe they will be ready to congratulate Rossi, eh. BTW, I have read plenty of Stoner fans say congrats to Rossi here. I know who you want on here, but really, Pinky and BarryManiac are no shows. It not the Quintet's faults the Twins are out to lunch buddy.

Which reminds me, didn’t Pinky say something about if something happened, he would leave the forum? What was that again?

Jumkie...this one's for you
Thanks man. If I've ever said anything bad about you, I take it back, I must have been on crack.

That's a great pic.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Babelfish @ Aug 18 2008, 09:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>F, being a 5 times champion doesn't make him an oracle. It's just plain stupid to take his word for it. He doesn't mind playing mind games allthough I don't think he did here, and while he said pressure might have something to do with it, he also clearly said that's what happens when you are down on points, and that was a very clear reference to his own experience.
If it's one thing these two guys have in common in their personality it's their competetivness. They want to win, and what ever pressure they have it's 99% self induced. That's not about choking or anything like that, it's about winners. Winners who couldn't care less if they end up second or tenth, it's only one position that is good enough and that's #1. In the situation Stoner were in before this weekend he had to beat Rossi to have any real hope of taking the championship, and when done is done I bet that's why he took it so easy afterwards too. He did what he had to do, failed in trying but at least tried. I respect that a lot.

Look Babel, I'm agreeing with you.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Aug 19 2008, 09:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>You gather this because Rossi closed the gap (still not caught up) in the lap he went down? Stoner went down early, yes, but up until that point the gap fluctuated but remained fairly over a second. In Mick Doohan's words, "A second on the track is a very large distance."
yes so with that logic , 0.3 or 0.4 secs a lap with 16 laps to go is catching up fast

I've seen Rossi catch up then lose touch. The gap fluctuated, that means up and down, that is NOT catching up unless you know what would have been the gap the following lap.

fluctuating it may have been but at just .2 of a sec a lap with 16 to go would be 3.2 secs when stoner had only a 1 sec lead so rossi could afford some fluctuation along the way . we all now he gets faster as the race goes on so its possible his .3 sec a lap catch up may have got even faster

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Aug 19 2008, 10:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>OK, I think my work is done here. I think I need to file you in the TOM bin, under members with Zero-Touch with reality.

I would expect nothing less from you. After all you there is big black hole in your experience as a motorbiker and that's racing. I woudn't expect you to understand all sides of racing without the expereince yourself.

But instead of throwing insults at each others it would be interesting to know what kind of crushing presure stoner were under last year.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Aug 19 2008, 10:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>And, in my opinion, I don't thin Rossi would have caught him, but as you said, who knows. Ask babel, he knows everything. He knows Rossi would have caught him. So ther you go, ask the man with the crystal <strike>pipe</strike> ball.

I'll leave that fight to your friend Roger. He seems to be a lot more confident in this matter than me. I only pointed out a few facts that your Oracle Doohan got wrong if the reports earlier in the tread were accuarate. Sure I thought Rossi would eventually catch stoner, especially as Stoner lost > .3 sec on the lap before his crash but we will never know, will we?

Have to agree with Rog there.

If Hayden got a ride on Ducati, he said he would leave.

You know me, Jumkie, I'll say what I'm thinkin! If he didnae do that spoilt kid greetin face on when things aren't going his way, (and he didn't on Sunday, nice one Casey) I wouldnt have a problem with him. Yeah Ive taken the piss out of his remote control bike and other stuff, but as a rider, the guy and is the only one who can make the Duke work. And by .... does he make it work..........Actually, he's no the only one who can make it work now, Scud was awesome on it at the weekend. Now that scares the .... out of me...............................

OMG! Look out. (Just thank god DePuniet has only managed to take himself out (well for the most part). Not sure if you got Mick's commentary there, but it was funny to hear him say after he went down. "It looked like he was riding over his head way before he went down." Scud at least kept in upright...this time, eh.
