2009 Supercross season (SPOILERS)

I've been playing a lot of catch-up on SX/MX. I can't believe I sat out last year!

What I have read and seen still makes Jason Lawrence come across as a high school bully. According to a speedtv.com report on Dungey ditching his former clothing sponsor, Lawrence sat behind the Suzuki rider before practice and questioned his sexuality. Hopefully that's just a rumor.

Go Reed! I don't care if it's the bike, Reed, or Stewart reigning in his speed to keep from crashing, just keep it coming guys!

Jason Lawrence is a punk.............back in around 2000/ 2002 time he used to play MCM2 online, l dunno whether any of you guys ever played it. It was played online on the MSN gaming zone, had a hardcore set of guys of around 400 at its peak, fantastic game back then. Anyway he used to play it and he came across as a gobby arrogant prick then, dunno how old he is now but he must have been around 11 or 12 at that time .......he was quick though.

Motocross Madness 2

I know contact is more a part of sx/mx than road racing, but am I the only one who thinks the Pro Circuit riders, at least on the west coast, ride a little rougher than the average lites racer?

So far this year, whenever Weimer catches up to another rider, he seems to begin diving into the turn, altering his line, in an attempt to hit the leading rider and make a pass. Jake seems to do it from much farther behind than others (e.g. Dungey's failed pass attempt at San Francisco). I haven't noticed this from other racers, although there was an incident at Anaheim I between a KTM and a Honda. Jake didn't do any of that at San Francisco, however, he was never behind anybody!
<
Great job!

Also, Morais, Weimer's teammate, pushed into a rider while in the air, causing his rival to land against the tough blocks and ride off the track.

Do Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders have a history of tough racing?

I love the lites class, BTW.

well the season is starting to like what most of us expected.... stewart is winning everything & reed is the constant #2. the lites class tho is providing some excellent racing!

Same here. Err. I will get to it soon Frost.

Speedchannel sucks once again.
For some reason they are going to show today's race of the San Diego SX Lites at 11 pm but not show the Supercross race until next saturday where they will also play the supercross race from that day which I think is Atlanta.
So for some reason we have to wait a week to see San Diego and only a few hours to see Atlanta.
That makes no sense whatsoever. I don't care if they don't play a race live but at least show it in a timely manner with maybe a consistent schedule week to week.
I can't complain about the Supercross schedule though. They race almost every weekend.
This is a very nice diversion to roadracings offseason.

Agree, Speed sucks Greg White's ......, but hate to tell you, SX San Diego was on channel 2 at 9am Sunday morning. I have it Tvod. Would you like to know who won? Let me give you a clue, this guy would have been on a perfect season this year had it not been for somebody crossing tires with him in Anaheim I.

Just watched San Diego and Atlanta.
It's time for Stewart and try a page from Rossi's book and start creating antics after his race wins.
As wildly popular as he is he's going to start to turn fans away if he keeps winning races by 11 seconds.
Hey it's not his fault he's so fast but he's got to make it at least a bit interesting or it's going to become like Superbike the last few years.
I feel bad for Chad Reed each week on the podium when the Amazonian microphone chick tells him "hey you just got your ... handed to you again this week when yesterday you said you found some things that would make you faster and be able to compete with Stewart. What happened? and how are you not going to get your ... handed to you next week as well?"
I want Chad to just blurt out " ....., He's just faster than me and the rest of the world. I'm never going to beat him unless he crashes. You ....... know that and so does the rest of the world so why don't you just say Hey Chad great race. Any Thoughts?"
To Chad's credit he's pretty honest and he has a lot to say.
How bout Villopoto. Someone's got to pull the kid aside and tell him that the little bit we get to hear from him is on the podium and therefore he might want to actually talk so we can form an opinion of his personality. I swear each week he tries to break his previous record of saying the fewest words before he pimps his team and sponsors.
This week was the greatest." Yeah it's really great to get on the podium a few times this year. I would like to thank........."
Comon kid. Talk a bit about the race and your thoughts as well.

Thanks for the updates, I cannot get coverage over here

unless anyone knows of any good sites to watch online?

The week before in Atlanta Chad Reed stated that he knew a way to beat Stewart but he couldn't get near enough for him to try it.
I think his plan was to try to stay close to him and force him to make a mistake.
Well it certainly worked this week. Stewart tipped over twice and still had a chance to win.
We saw in the past when it was Stewart vs RC, Stewart was always faster but when RC pressured him he was prone to crashing.
I thought after last seasons MX series that Stewart had figured it out mentally. He barely crashed and was just about perfect every week. Noone was there to pressure him though.
This week he looked like his old self again. Fast as hell but unable to withstand the pressure.
Interesting to see which Stewart will finish off the season

Wow, Reed beat Bubba (or was it Bubba beating Bubba) haha.

Damn, how many time can a man go down and near crashes for Reed to get a lead?
<

To be fair, Reed road flawless. So well deserved congrats to Chad.

I'm thinking that track was very strange for Stewart. He just couldn't get to grips with it in the main. Did that single jump look awkward to anybody else?

Watch the lap just before Stewart goes down the 1st time. The left hander he crashes on goes from a corner to almost a whoop and than a small jump. Stewart comes out of corner and wheelies over the whoop and hits the jump. The reaction time from corner to wheelie to jump is so friggin fast.
I'm amazed at how flawless and fast Stewart can be. Little things like that are a joy to watch.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (frosty58 @ Mar 8 2009, 01:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>stewart beat himself again at daytona. it's seems it's the only way reed can best him.
Yea, Stewart using his head as a speed bump wasn't a good strategy.

I haven't seen the daytona race but have seen replays of several of the previous races, and stewart seems to be faster than reed to an almost ridiculous degree. Surely the points system is flawed to not reflect his dominanace. I don't know whether it is true, but I saw a claim somewhere that he basically has won pretty well every race he did not crash in, but also that he has crashed in quite a high percentage of races.

No doubt Stewart is hands down the fastest guy on the planet in Supercross. I had thought he would dominate this year due to another year a maturity, but now I'm not so sure. For whatever reason he seems to ride over his abilities when passed or trying to catch up. I'm sure someone has told him he has the speed to ride his race and the win will come easily, but in the heat of battle you sometimes forget your the greatest rider on the track. His training and work ethic are there, now he just needs the mental focus when behind to maintain throughout the race.
With that being said, I do believe if Stewart stays healthy, the outdoor season is his to loose, Reed will be there, but not sure he will have the raw speed to keep Stewart in check, the only guy I think could possibly keep Stewart in sight this year, and it's a long shot will be Villopoto. Villopoto outdoors is fun to watch.
...on another note, will someone please tell Mike Alessi entry speed into the whoops is where it's at...geez how many times can that kid get passed in the whoop section before he understands, I mean your a freaking professional motorcrosser for cripes sakes!

Easier said than done my friend. Perhaps he's still thinking about the 5 bikes that landed on him after he crashed trying to be fast on the trick parts of the track...

The kid was being used as a landing ramp last time he pushed it, I'm sure he still has nightmares of what could have been a life ending at least career ending incident. Give him time brotha, its just his first season back from such a terrible crash.
