Who thinks Rossi will retire at the end of 2012?

IMO people underestimate the affect that SImoncelli's passing had on Rossi.

Not trying to make excuses or find reasons for his bad form but i dont think we will ever see the "old" Rossi again.

Simple fact of the matter is it would affect anyone, and Rossi isnt getting any younger and doesnt need to prove anything to anyone. So most of you should STFU~!

I try to live in the real world and judge how riders would fair on equal machinery, every rider on that grid has earned his way onto the grid thro merit, not the ........ i read on here.

And Rossi, and almost all the other riders out there IMO would be podiuming on a Yamaha or Honda regardless of what we think......

I think most of the people on this forum beleive that all machinery is equal, its not.

Just research Hondas R&D HQ and the funds available and you we see why their bikes are where they are compared to Ducati.

Just remember all the riders out their have earned their way onto the grid.

and deserve our respect- We are nothing more than armchair racers..

so stop bitching and bullshiting about what you think you know...

You mean like you just did in your first paragraph?

Who would you say has the most fans in the sport and brings in the most money and fans? End of.

As michaelm so eloquently said: seen 'em come and go... the sport is bigger than the man - or did u not understand the Gretzky, Jordan, Beckham reference?

What who needs to prove what?

WTF r u on about? I was referring to your complaining about peeps "bitching and bullshiting about what [they] think [they] know" when you spent your first paragraph bitching and bullshiting about what you think you know. It was amusing...

Hence the bolded type. Lol let's all agree to disagree now eh? They're all superheroes but Id agree that simoncelli going and the broken leg have definitely given him pause.. I wouldn't be mad if he retired, he's done quite enough.. But I could also see him keeping on trying to help ducati more... I could also see him getting the bug to try for another ride on a more competitive bike.. But I think he'd lose the most face with that option

Sorry I should point out I'm an ex-racer...

Not that i know everything or consider myself above anyone...

But seriously this forum is made up of Jokers and Clowns thinking they know everything about anything to do with Motogp when the reality is most cant even wheelie in their pants, let alone a bike...

I come on here for ..... and giggles, because you guys make me laugh with the BS you post.

Every now and again I have to post because you guys just frikin make me piss my pants.....

Is he gonna... is he gonna...

Yes! He pulls out the rookie, "I'm an ex-racer", come back!

You gotta have something more original in the arsenal dude, that's just weak.

Well done you have won 2nd place in "Im a ..... race"

your doing well.....

At every race you will see a sea of yellow - Rossi fans, so without Rossi in the sport where would they be? Believe it or not but there are many fans that watch the sport solely for him.

If any of you think that the sport wouldn't miss him and won't miss him when he is gone, then you are deluded.

No .....

We call them 'Rossiboppers,' in large part because their emotional level is approximate with the average http://www.bopandtigerbeat.com/ member.

Remember the huge ratings drop that occurred last year when he broke his leg? As you just stated, these people don't have any great interest in the sport of MotoGP. Instead, they are attracted to the persona of #46. They worship not the person, not the athletic display (and certainly not the screaming bike), but the overall cult of personality that Mr. Rossi has carefully placed on display. While they just love the "winning, smiling clown" act that has made Rossi so famous, I don't see them having any strong attachment to Valentino (the person) himself.

I think the psychology of 'fandom' is a bit whacked, with a whole range of emotions getting somewhat tangled and confused inside the head of the devotee. However, at the end of the day, none of these people will have developed a 'real' connection to the 'real' V.R. (This may be news to them, but they will eventually figure it out!) Unfortunately for both them and Valentino, 'two cups of win' is possibly the most important ingredient in the fan 'recipe.' Without it, even the most foaming Rossibopper will soon lose interest and wander off in search of the emotional fix he needs.

We saw the beginnings of group defection last year with the sharp increase in Sic's fanbase. With Marco gone, the Rossi fans may stay faithful for a while longer, but sooner or later another rider - or even another star in an entirely different sport - will draw their attention. I sense that many Boppers are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with their hero. I also think that any sort of public falling-out between Duc and Rossi (a signal that the situation is truly borked, with no hope of improvement) will trigger a mass exodus. This is something the sport is just going to have to deal with. I'm afraid that scolding PS members, as you seem fond of doing, will NOT affect this eventuality in any way.

Rossi will retire soon but then we'll have a new superstar in the form of Marc Marquez; that boy is a bit special.

Stoner was on the duke and Lorenzo was still green on equal machinery for the first time yet, with no telemetry to check out etc etc....Second time around Rossi got his ... beat.

You are really thick. Lorenzo being green is a good excuse for being wooped by Rossi on the same machinery as you say, but the fact that Rossi broke his leg the following season means nothing to you?

Money is how this world shows appreciation. Bigger talent, bigger name, more achivements = more money. I think it suits well in the case before us.

Then you should consider joining the Magnate's race, where Carlos Slim is the current world champion.

You have a VERY ...... up view of the world.

If Rossi continues to let Barbera beat him on track then I think retirement will be his only option wether he likes that or not.

Tonight was a very bad night for Rossi.
