Who thinks Rossi will retire at the end of 2012?

I don't care if Rossi stays or goes. MotoGP will endure with or without him.

Times change and inevitably new talent emerges. Rossi is not part of the future of MotoGP. He'll certainly always be listed among the sport's greats but like all those who came before him, his time is limited and his impact is waining.

Two years after Rossi leaves the paddock, he'll be mentioned only sparingly and new fans will know almost nothing of his accomplishments. That's how sport works. New fans, new talent, old legends become exactly that....old.

At the end of the day it is a subjective point of view of each fan. For me Rossi is the all times great, some of the races he rode where the best I have ever seen, and he literaly brought me to tears on several occusions. If he still enjoys it, he should go on, otherwise he shold switch to something else. From my subjective point of view, there will never be another on the same scale in motoGP.

Why are there so many Rossi haters on these forums? I really don't understand it.... he has brought and will for the remainder of his GP career (which I think will be 2 years maybe 3, then off to WSB) more than these "new breed" of riders such as the winger Lorenzo and that moody guy Pedrosa. Rossi is old school and we need more riders like him and Marco RIP, this will make the sport far more exciting and watch able for new fans, oh an did I mention Rossi is a NINE time world champion!! So lay off his back... I know thats not what this thread is about but I find consistant Rossi-bashing throughout these forums very annoying considering all he has done for the sport. I see a lot of respect given to riders such as stoner, pedrosa, lorenzo etc (which I also respect massively, but not necessarily like) so show some respect to the still king of our favourite motorsport Valentino Rossi!

Is it wrong for me to take pleasure in Rossi's current situation? ....................... nahhhhh.

What can I say, I'm a hater. He need's more humble pie seeing how he's looking like a stick lately. Gotta keep up those caloric intake Vale....... lucky for you there's more to come. Muahahaha.

On the flip side he's making Nicky "The Kentucky Squid" looking like he's a 'real' champion of the past, and I also can't stand Hayden. If only both were on the bottom of the barrel....... that would certainly make my day.

Damn I'm one cynical ......., yes I know.

Will Rossi retire by the end of the year? Probably through 'forced' retirement. I don't see any team picking him up except for CRT teams, and we all Know Rossi's head is too big for that. Maybe that is why he is getting an early start in 4 wheel racing.

Boo hoo...

Take off the yellow BopperVision[sub]TM[/sub] glasses, dude.

I think you'll find a LOT of people around here who hold a reasonably balanced view of 46. Just because they're choose not to parrot the fawning adulation you prefer does NOT mean they 'hate' Rossi. If you're looking for a hard core Rossibopper forum, you'd really better keep looking.

I agree, since Rossi has joined Ducati he hasn't been his old self, but i,m not sure if he will or should retire from motogp at the end of this year only because he hasn't been able to perform as usual. If his problem is only Duc then he can accept that he has lost this battle, and change his team and win and fight for the podiums again.

How were the other riders handicapped? He beat Jorge in 2009 on equal machinery, can't get much fairer than that

Stoner was on the duke and Lorenzo was still green on equal machinery for the first time yet, with no telemetry to check out etc etc....Second time around Rossi got his ... beat.

Rossi will never be as good as Stoner.

There is a complete set of skills missing from Rossi's repertoire.

When talking of Stoner V's Rossi. it has nothing to do with Rossi getting old ....... its all to do with the new guys settling in and showing us what they have.

Lorenzo/Pedro v's Rossi ......... maybe its a combination of Rossi old/new guys finding their way.

Even on a Yam, Rossi would be say 4th or 5th. Stoner getting off the Duc. was just another definite place taken from him.

'Reasonably balanced view' don't make me laugh... Everyone on here seems to have some kind of grudge against the Doctor. He's flamboyant, brave, fun, entertaining and still has enough talent left to beat these new, dull racers hands down on equal machinery. If it was down to people like you the bikes would be wrapped in bubble wrap, the engines would be capped to 125cc and there would be no overtaking! We need MORE riders like the GOAT not less so nobody should be wanting him to retire as the sport is far better off with excellent veterans such as him and Edwards.

And 'Rossi will never be as good as Stoner' Are you mental??? I've got some news, he already has been, for about the past 15 years!!! Maybe in the next ten years you could say that, but definately not now and I have the utmost confidence that even within ten years if Super SIC was still here Stoner almost certainly wouldn't have had a better career than Rossi.

Most certainly, I have always been a very mental person.

Is there something wrong with that? because its always been a trait that has gotten me favour and places in the past.

I can tell by your post that you are not a very mental person at all ....... but never mind their are lots of jobs out there that don't require very mental people.

Hi Hoppers13! Nice to see ur not bringing any bias into the conversation. How refreshing.

Hmmm.... you mean just like most other people on here are biased towards Stoner and Lorenzo? I just can't believe how much stick he get's for what he brings to the sport in terms of everything!

At every race you will see a sea of yellow - Rossi fans, so without Rossi in the sport where would they be? Believe it or not but there are many fans that watch the sport solely for him. If any of you think that the sport wouldn't miss him and won't miss him when he is gone, then you are deluded.

"I just can't believe how much stick he get's for what he brings to the sport in terms of everything!" Are you posting from a time machine?

Yeah and the NHL still need Gretzky, NBA need Jordan and footy needs Beckham.

That's the problem with being a full-blooded fanatic. Your point of view is so skewed, so extreme, that the rest of the whole ....... world is seen as being opposed to you and your beliefs. I hope you are enjoying your Martyr Munchies. Beware the bitter aftertaste.

Seriously?

Logic. Does your planet have any?

Who the hell said said I want him to retire? (There you go again, making up random ....!) I rather enjoy watching the hand of Karma ..... slap your boy day after long suffering day. He's free to stay as long as he likes!

Who would you say has the most fans in the sport and brings in the most money and fans? End of.

Some of us followed it for a long time before rossi, and will continue to follow it after him. He has been a very great rider, and might still be close to the front on a yamaha, but like all other great riders he will retire.

Fortunately or not motogp is still one of the real sports, where popularity does not determine who wins. As I have argued previously, someone as unpopular as stoner winning two world championships in a way validates valentino's seven
