If it were just the tyres then Melandri, Duhamel, RDP, West, CV, Hopper and RLH would have be at the sharp end all the time and during this past weekend in practice and racing as well...

as ive said before, its a team sport and to win all the elements need to be good, thats bike rider & tyres but only one of these has to be under par to make you come second or last .

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(gsfan @ Jul 25 2007, 03:51 AM) <div class='quotemain'>
It is one of the best machines on the grid just underpowered because it lacks 1000rpm on the Ducati.

the yam lacks 1000rpm your having a laff arent you ?? isnt it more like 3000 rpm and 10-20 bhp
ducati 19,500 rpm

yamaha 15,800 rpm

where are you guys getting this info, most teams keep there card close to there chest but you both talk as if this is fact, is it ?

yes it is the specs are out there they aint plastered all over the net but you can get them if you want them, all of it peak limits , rpm's ,
B horsepower, acceleration , top speed, the specs i posted are from the 800 machine.
thats why i keep sayin the duke has a massive advantage over the yam not sure about the other bikes??? and its not just a few mph or rpm or bhp it has quite a bit more, thats why i was saying i hope yam gets the new engine out soon, but that still leaves the michelin cake mix tyres, like i said im not up on tyres, could someone explain about them i was wondering if yam could start using the stones ???

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jazkat @ Jul 26 2007, 01:16 AM) <div class='quotemain'>
we are not looking for excuses, we are just discussing the yam so shut ur trap, youve only been on this forum for like a week and already youve been talked down for being an absolute coconut.
and yes it is the yam cos it uses spring valves suzuki ,kawasaki , ducati all use pneumatic.
so you still think that when yamaha and mich get there act together rossi wont close the gap between him and stoner?
well pmslol to that, casey is having a great season GREAT RIDING ,GOOD RUBBER , AND AN AWESOME MACHINE.
if rossi was lossing riders with a good setup then fair enough but thats not how it is at the moment so just shut up saying there making excuses.
i didnt want to but i will anyway remember crashy last season ???? he didnt get on well with that machine and look what happend to him, this season casey has come out with a good pakage and hes a deamon.
you just keep being stupid and calling riders lairs cos you will look stupid when all this gets turned around il be following you round doing your headin then saying you was wrong wrong wrong, but then again i wont cos im not a childish ..... lke you soz for this but when the bikes even then we will see whats on the cards.

Jazkat...I know that and that is my point and if you have read Casey’s interview, but I must tell you that he really doesn’t tell it like it is about the LCR in 2006!!! It was much worst!!!

Maybe, given that the size of the engine was changing, the tyre rule should not have been changed. This would have allowed the teams to get used to the new engine and then the new tyre rule could have been introduced a year later. Instead of having one new variable in the mix, there are now two and who knows how the two interact. Maybe Ducati were "luckier" than the other teams and just about got it right first time.

I do know one thing though and the actual racing has not been as good this year. Too many races where one bikes just leaves the rest - Laguna Seca, lovely track, boring races!

Steve, I agree with your comment on too many variables being chnaged for the year. Yamaha and Honda seem to have been penalized. They were trying so hard to wing the championship last year, while Ducati gave up on 2006 and began working on the 800cc. However, the racing is no less exciting than when Rossi was on the RC211V. It nice to see him struggle for a change.. That alone has, IMHO, made MotoGP more exciting that the usual Rossi wins...

How can anyone continue to believe this when there is so much out there to suggest that the machinery was vastly different. This very thread is all about different equipment disadvantaging people.

I have said it before and I will say it again: Michelin and Honda a falling over due to their policy of only giving good equipment to a couple of the many riders they support. No rider can help develop the equipment when they are getting poor crap compared to Pedrosa and Rossi so therefore development is hindered.

As for CSCVAW:
Mate you are the ...... You posts are un readable and mostly just don't make sense. You are unable to write in sentences and you just don't seem to understand that WRITING IN CAPITALS IS SEEN AS SCREAMING.
The way you abuse people and call names is the most immature behaviour I have seen. If you conversed with me face to face like you post I would punch your ....... lights out. In fact every time I have to skip past your post to get to the people who post with intelligence despite who they barrack for I wish I knew where you lived because I would pay you a visit.
You add absolutely no value to any discussion on this forum. You act like you know something about motorcycle racing but we can all tell you know nothing.
The sooner the moderators ban you from the site the better.

looking at this post, i would say you are infact just as bad if not worse than cscvaw. i dont think there is any reason to threaten people just because you dont like there opinions or the way they use capital letters, if you dont like him then ignore him, after reading this my respect for you has tumbled, GROW UP ! it's only words in a virtual world.
look at how pete handled being accused of saying things he didnt, he handled it with some humour and in an adult way.

Your right Roger, behind a screen and a keyboard, everybody is 10 feet tall and bullet proof and they can ride a bike like a Gp racer. Its fun to talk on the internet and then meet the people that are allways talking about kicking someones ... and how they rail thru the twisties. They are usually 5'5" and go a buck fifty and are slower than stink off a frozen turd.I live near one of the motorcycle mecca's of the world as far as people traveling to ride a certain stretch of road .Deals Gap,Hwy 129,aka the Dragon, and just about every bike that has a forum holds their rallys here.Since im a local i lead a lot of rides on these rallys and its comical to watch these guys you have met on the net and how much differnt they are in person.

hey guys i hope you havent taken a dissliking to me??, i was just discusing bike , tyres , and advantages and dissadvantages of the bikes and there setups.
im sorry if you think im an idot also i was just responding to CSCVAW because everytime time i post about things worth disccusing he butts in by saying stupid things like:

"No No No...It’s NOT the The Yami is on I4 and it has and/or maybe???" internal balance problems? It’s THERE RIDERS THAT YOU SHOULD BE ADDRESSING THIS TO!!! Nothing to do with the yami, Hondi, Suzui, Kwaki what other excuses can WE THINK OF???? Oh...Michi, Duni!!!???...

so i was just reponding to him in the way he can only understand, i like this forum and i like disccusing the mechanical side of motogp and other things so dont label me the same as CSCVAW i was just giving him back
what he deserved. You cant have a serious discussion without him having to post childlike answer's.
he obviously doesnt understand of how the small or large problems with the bikes can have a big impact on what the rider can produce in the race,
all he ever says is that the riders are just making excuses, i mean when the riders return to the garage the manufacturers can obviously see the tyre problems, well dont you think "CSCVAW" that the manufacturers would get fed up if the rider was saying about a tyre problem and there was nothing wrong with it???? dont you think they would get a little annoyed if that was true???.
so even when michelin themselves say that the tyre didnt perform well
are the riders still makeing up excusses??.

i like this forum and i dont want anyone to disslike me here i just want to discuss motogp without someone reponding in a non productive way and being childish.

CSCVAW i dont hate you i just wish you would discuss these things in a good way, i hope we can put this behind us and discuss things as usual like adults, sorry if i offended you or anyone.

thanks take care.

We all know Rossi can race on worn tyres and win from almost anywhere on the grid so there has to be more to it than just him if he can't challenge for the front when he was able to win at another round from 11th.

yes Rossi is amazing on worn tyres, but not worn ones against obviously good tyres like the bridgestones have been.

Rossi is great on worn tires, but apprently you don't need those skills if you are on Bridgestones
<

Here is some of what Rossi had to say after Laguna:

"I really had no grip from the start...."

"Stoner set some lap times that I wasn't able to beat even with the qualifying tyre,...

"I tried to catch Melandri with 10 laps to go, but he was going twice as fast. In the spots where he would open the gas, we were still struggling to turn."

From http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/61087

A couple of days ago I didn't like the control tyre concept. But now, the more i've thought about it, the more its grown on me. Despite a couple of cons, it does have many pros:

1) Safety - I remember we had a situation in early 2004 where the Bridgestone riders were prone to blowouts. This can be attributed to the tyre war and tyre manufacturers pushing to the limits. At those speeds, tyre blowouts are probably the most likely cause of a fatal accident (IMO). When a rider highsides or lowsides naturally, they slide off into the gravel trap. With a tyre blowout, they might be on a straight, a part of the circuit not designed to accomodate potential crashes. I remember Nakano was lucky to get away with that blowout at Mugello he came inches from the concrete wall. So without a tyre war, safety would be of bigger concern.

2) Competition - As has been said, it could do wonders for the racing. I also get sick of hearing riders moaning about tyres, you never know when its true or not. More riders could push for the front with the same tyre.

3) Cost Reduction - I wonder just how much time the teams spend developing and testing tyres with their respective manufacturer? I don't know if the same is true in MotoGP, but the main reason the tyre war was scrapped in F1 was because the biggest proportion of testing went towards developing tyres, which is pretty rediculous. This meant the need for large test teams, which escalated costs.

4) The viewer - This could spell a new era for MotoGP in viewer understanding. At the moment we rely on the commentators to let us know what type of tyres each rider is running. With a sole supplier, a colour coding system could be introduced, like that used in Champ Car and F1. The viewer will be able to visually see for themselves what type of tyre the rider is running.

5) Spectacle - MotoGP tyres are too grippy. It's one of the reasons we don't see rear wheel sliding like we used to - traction control isn't entirely to blame. With one supplier, rear wheel sliding could once again play a part.

As far as being 10 foot tall and bullet proof - no I am 6'6" 98kg and can generally stick with most people on the local twisties.
