What's up with Ant West?

Last year he definitely impressed in both the wet and the dry. He was pretty much guaranteed a mid field position. What's going on now? (please don't say fitness)

To be honest I think the talent on the Motogp grid at the moment is a little bit too good for him.

I guess that is all she wrote for Westy in Motogp.

I hope that he lands on his feet.

we cant discuss after one race, thing was it was cold and and night, IMO the problem was not many people got used to riding on a cooling circuit, confidence with tyres and setup i believe is the problem with a lot of the time gaps in the race.

Apparently Antfan hasn't been around since the 13th of January. I wonder why...........

I'm sure all of you know my view on West, but...
<

I don't think he's moto gp material. Yes he won two WSS races last year, but one was in the drenching rain at Silverstone, and the other at Misano, when the Yamaha was coming good. In 250's he NEVER showed he was that capable.

Coming last behind the Alice's on a capable bike (hopper proved that by getting points even when injured) is a disgrace.

That's exactly why they keep him around. He doesn't get paid much, the Kawasaki is awful in the dry anyway, and if it rains Kawasaki have an outside chance of winning.

He's Kawasaki's equivalent of Verme, except Verme can ride well in the dry on occasion as well.

Does everyone realize Kawasaki scored the same result last year? DePunt binned it and OJ finished 12th. Exactly the same as this year points wise. They actually improved because Westy kept it on 2 wheels

Qatar is a Kwak bogey track.

good riddance to the plonker i say.

and its to early to make a judgment on a rider 1 race in, and a bit of a weird race at that being at night ect.

Frizzle could have a point there, the grid this year is roaring with talent not saying Westy is not, but in the next couple of races he needs to at least get his finger out of his arse and try and outrace/qualify his Teamate. Unless he is under strict orders not to shame Kwackers multi $ signing that is the Hopper.

The guy has been around for quite a long time to not know he usually is not that good, so I'm not surprised at all. Brilliant wet racer, average at best dry weather racer.

As a Kawa fan I'm very dissapointed with Kawa's rider choices.

I have always rated Westy highly but for the life of me i cant understand whats going on with him and kawasaki.
Kawasaki & Suzuki are always playing catch up, i dont think either will ever come to anything, they are nearly there but not quite.
I guess i'll reserve judgement on Westy until he gets a few more races under his belt, hope he comes good.

Somebody has to be last, why not somebody on a Kawasaki. It time they deserve a break from all those back to back championshits they have won.

Where is Antfan to tell us we are all full of ..... I know Kawasaki can barely be called a true "factory" ride, but I'm pretty sure Antfan said that's all Westy needed to prove to the world that he was related to the Messiah.

Ahhh. Speaking of Antfan, who can forget such quality posts as:

"Chaz qualified 18th for P.I ahem .. West hasnt qualified that low EVER.. yet
<
" - West qualified 18th for the Qatar GP.

"I think West has more than 'cut it' during his limited time to prove himself and his ability in the premier class, so far..

So long as his progression continues on a steady upward trend (especially after next years pre-season testing) then im sure he'll be sticking around
<

Oh and im also sure Ant and JT will have some cracker battles next year.. personally, i look foward to them! No wait, i look forward to the 2008 season as a whole, period
<
" - Ant doesn't look like he'll get a look at the leading 7 for a long time yet.

"JT and Chaz will do for 08, dont need any more Brits in there fighting for 15th and getting in the way
<
(awaits pommy backlash)" - I thought this was kind of funny.
<

Yes, I do love being a smartass.

Yes, and that was true then. Consider where he ended in points compared to DePuniet, and that he might ride for almost nothing, you can see it wasn't that hard to keep him.

Look, I don't think West is that bad, its not like his teammate set the world on fire on the Kawi (considering injury and all). I'm sure we will see some improvement. I'm just saying, he wasn't as good as Antfan described. As far as him deserving a chance, yes he earned it, last year, now this is this year.

I think Ant is better than Cardosa so that's a plus.
I like his attitude and swagger. I would like for him to mix it up with the front or mid pack some time in the near future.

Weird race or not, Ant has done jack .... in testing. At every track he was battling for the bottom of the timing sheets. Jerez will be equally .... for him unless it pisses down.

I think I hear Antfan praying for rain at every round. Good luck.
