A lesser rider might have gone down and taken stoner with him into the wall.
You obviously would know the conventions having raced, but I am not sure you maintain the right of way once you go off the track. I agree with the second part though, and as discussed earlier in the thread I don't think rossi really had any options other than proceeding as he did once he went off track; stoner should have realised this but probably didn't have a lot of decision making time either. It is remarkable that rossi managed not to crash let alone him maintaining a large degree of control, and I think few if any other riders would have managed this.

It was an understatement ..... aimed at showing the idiocy of the inference ...... "just because of "the incident" at the corkscrew" ........ Stoner seems to have "bucked" the supposed Rainey "Prophecy" wouldn't you think?

Anyhow..my original post mentioned NOTHING of Rossi or Stoner...only what Wayne one of the GREATEST riders ever to grace the tarmac said..thats it....
<
..it was others who took it here.. mot me

You mean your original post on this thread

.

Wayne rainey is one of the greatest riders to have ever lived (see my list of favourite riders) and considerably better than wayne gardner who wasn't half bad though.

Humm, that's of course a complication. Do one have right of way after being off the track even if it's ever so slightly? I don't know if there are any rules regarding that. Besides, Rossi were well clear of the gravel when he obstructed Stoner, that was more as a unavoidable consequence of the line he had entering the gravel. I guess the uniqness of the corckscrew make normal rules difficult to apply.
Maybe a crossing like that should be considered to gain an unfair advantage off the track even if the rider enter and exit the gravel in the same position, but I don't think it's a valid reason under the current ruels.

3. You probably have never seen swell, nor can't read it.
4. You'd probably catch a Cod! and embarrassingly keep it to eat

I was considering the samae point, in stricter forms of racing Rossi would have been penalised for gaining an advantage by not using the track. Fortunately things like this don't come up in motogp and the odd ugly pass like this doesn't result in changing race results.

Part of the reason the rules are as they are is because most sane people also see that riding in the gravel with a GP bike is hardly the way you gain an advantage

Well although it may not be something riders aim to do, Rossi clearly gained an advantage by not using the track.

It's always an appropriate time for that.
