Visordown - Lorenzo linked to £5million Honda deal

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (PASSI @ Jul 14 2009, 06:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>honda is not in GP to be 3rd or sth. they will take the rider that brings them the title...

69.

No way in hell Jorge will ride a Repsol with the poison Ps in the same garage. He and everyone in the pits knows what they did to Haystack. Honda can flap their gums about 'equality' 'til hell freezes, but you know Puig will always be skulking about in the shadows, playing dirty politics and backstabbing Lorenzo and his team at every available opportunity.

Relatively best would be to banish Peddles and PuIG to <strike>the far side of the moon</strike> a Repsol sponsored factory-satellite team while Jyorgai and Dovi (why not, he's doing well) race for HRC. Repsol might be able to partially fund the factory campaign, but you'd likely need to add another big sponsor.

Puig/Pedrosa have basically welcomed Jorge into the garage (also a means of ousting Dovi). Jorge won't care about or tolerate their ..... Plus, don't think he's above just sitting out a weekend if Honda tries to .... him over (he's not as nice as Nicky). He'll be on a very favorable option contract

5,5,8,4,4 then TWO consecutive rider error DNFs is not a "doing well" in a factory team.

I reckon Lorenzo is stupid if he goes for money over a bike that works well for him.

He's shown Rossi that he can be beaten on the same bike, so no excuses

Honda want another championship so badly. Dani so far hasn't performed. This is the early stages of negotiations. I'm sure they'd be willing to pay more to Lorenzo than yamaha would. Remember, Rossi costs a hell of a lot of money.
I think the honda can perform, you just have to look at Laguna last week. The honda is close, probably closer than the ducati is. And Jorge IS a future world champion, probably a multiple WC. I'm not sure whether Pedrosa is.
More than likely is that Lorenzo's trying to get more out of yamaha by playing them off honda.

That M1 is putting foot to ... on all the other manufactuers in almost every race. Just because the Honda did good in the last race does not mean they will be able to come through for Jorge and give him a championship caliber machine. If Jorge is smart he will stick with Yamaha until Honda can get there .... together 1.5million euros is not worth losing out on your very good chance of being a multiple World Champ!!!!!! DONT DO IT JORGE!!!!!!!!!!!! NO LO HAGAS JORGE!!!!!!!!!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SackWack @ Jul 13 2009, 11:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Even if Dani does really well for the rest of the season, his next crash will put him out of testing and a few races. Honda should be judging Pedro on his career so far. Yeah he has moments of brilliance but he has also had an injury prone season after season after season. So if they put all their marbles in one basket and it breaks another season is lost. Honda need to wake up and sign Whorehay. I'd like to see what he can do out of the shadow of Rossi

the thing with pedros injuries is a point. and its not about keeping a rider because Ur close friends but to get a title...

i dont know what would be better for the team...to keep dani AND get lorenzo or keep dovi and get lorenzo!?

@heng47

AGAIN i mean!

they're too far behind in the battle for the championship as their name is honda.

Thanks for the reply Johnny, yikes! That's a lot of money, but I don't think its as much as those soccer players I guess.... much less for those 250cc and 125cc riders too... btw, I was wondering why there was no 125 and 250cc race at laguna seca last 2 weeks ago.. do u know why??

I think the best would be for MotoGP if Lorenzo would make this deal. The big H did not forget how to make a proper racebike, this time they just needed a little more time...in my opinion they are way better now than Ducati (Elias also started to achieve on the factory-spec Honda). They definiately found something for Laguna, Sachsenring will tell us it was it a step forward in general or only for the US-track.
Do not forget that Peders would still be a strong title contender without his DNFs and we can not count him totally out yet! So the bike is good enough...not as good as Yamaha (yet) but good enough to take the title.
For next year: Jorge on a Repsol-bike, Peders on the other, Dovi on a Fiat-Yamaha, Spies on the Tech3, Gibernau on the new Telefonica-Honda, Melandri on a Gresini-Honda, Bautista and Capirex on a Suzuki, Kallio on a factory-spec Ducati next to Stoner. I would love to see Vermi on a competitive Honda or Yamaha but no more places for that and we need him in WSB!

Nationalism to triumph!

I think that if Lorenzo goes to Honda then Simoncelli will partner Vale in 2011.
However if that were to happen I don't know who would fill the void next year.
One things for sure. There would be one mighty long queue outside the Fiat Yamaha garage if a vacancy opened up.

That would be a great line up but what about poor old Hayden?

Ooops...at first I put him on the Telefonica-bike...then I thought a Spanish-sponsored team needs a spanish rider, Bautista is a rookie that is why Giber came in...okay and as a reminder for the old times.
<

Nicky needs a good satellite Yamaha or Honda for next year but Gresini is full, LCR will probably be with DePuniet. Tech3 is not clear yet, Edwards seems to be good, JT would probably stay if Spies turn the deal down and stays in WSB.
Hope Talma will achieve something at least to stay at Scott Honda...ehh we need 1 more Honda and Yamaha.
<

However back to Nicky: for him it would be better to go even to Suzuki than stay on the Duc.
It would be the best to get back next to Rossi if JL jump ship, but I gave that slot to Dovi.

Cool, I'd agree with everything apart from Nicky moving to Suzuki as much as I want to see more bikes and riders I think they should just give up the ghost and stick to superbikes. Hayden and Spies in Tech 3 would be awsome. I dont think Lorenzo is going anywhere

I'm not quite sure but i think there is some kind of deal that for the USGP the AMA races go before motogp instead of the 125s and 250s. Prob. to help promote AMA

I think Son has it right, he's just looking for Yamaha to commit more to him, ie - more cash, as he feels (and has proven) he is worth it. He's knows Yamaha is the place to be, and has shown that even being "2nd to Rossi" doesn't mean a thing, as he can beat him.

sorry mate not even god himself would get paid 5mill EUROS. economic recession anyone? another nice made up sensationalist story to get duds to click on the link
