Valencia Tests.

I don't think there's anyone like stoner out there he adapts faster then any other rider. But I think vr is right behind him and takes a very diff approach to it all.

14 bikes behind him to be precise.

Yes I agree, but here's something scary for Randy:Lets say he is simillar to Stoner and can ride a pretty "rough" machine well.Along comes Rossi and JB and make a tamer machine ....... lets hope for Randy he can veto updates that don't work for him.

Yeah, because everyone riding all the Yamaha's right now are complaining about how horribly tame the bike is..
<

If anything they're gonna turn that red turd into a great race bike.

And actually Randy did pretty well on the well mannered Honda..

is that how Lorenzo put it? I thought he was just asking for more power/grunt? Same as Edwards constant complaint really when I think of it

ya...show me some quotes about them 'constantly' complaining then..

If anything, it seems Rossi was the most vocal about more power output for the Yamaha in all these years.

Where do you get that from ?
<

a quote from julian ryder from the faster movie..."Anybody who could ride a 500cc GP motorcycle well enough to qualify on Grand Prix grid is a hero, Anybody! because these things are the most evil devices if your treat them wrong they will bite."

so.....? enlighten me barry

Easy.

The movie Faster was made when?
<

and

it was a movie ..... you are aware of that?

and

what happened when the 4 strokes came in?

how did the 500's look then
<

ya i know...but riders talk about how the 800s are much easier to ride cuz of the electronics...hell lorenzo says it's much smoother than his 250.

yes it's a movie...but you do know there's no script right..lol i dont' see how it being a movie detracts from anything that's in it

Cool, got me.

Well, meanwhile most of the riders who are complaining about the power output of the Yamaha's are still winning (championships) or are constantly in the top three/five.

I guess my original point was that, if anything, the Duc will (hopefully) be a better race machine once Rossi and Burgess are done with it, even if the power output is somewhat diminished.

Randy is on a Ducati.

Taking things out of context...........Hmmmm, these are Stoner Boppers your dealing with
<

In that same interview Burgess also said that testing a bike with an injured rider doesn't really solve too much, and that the test in Qatar with his rider fully fit will determine much more.......

Detraction's on JB from this test, and indeed ever, are- well, mindless.

If anyone who has suggested that JB should 'eat his words' can prove exactly what his, the teams and Rossi's motives for this test were, then outrageous statements from armchair critics are very, very stupid. This was a test, not a race.....

Of course his times were slow, way too slow, over a second behind Nicky, Does anybody really think that VR is going to remain a second behind Nicky and 1.6 seconds down on the leaders? From watching the video again I have to agree with J4rno, VR didn't look to be pushing too hard, and the thing looked pretty composed.

Funny how we only hear from certain folk when Stoner wins something, and these days, with such slim pickings, even a test is enough.............
<

...

He did win one more race than valentino this year though
<
.

Anyone who thinks that rossi won't be right in the thick of it next year has obviously not observed bike racing for the last 15 odd years at all closely.

However whilst you might see jB's comment about fixing the ducati in 80 seconds to be justifiable confidence, and as an admirer of jb going back to the wayne gardner days I might even agree with you, I can see some case for it to be considered arrogant, and that an implication could be drawn regarding the competence of the entire ducati operation including presiozi.

I personally think that major chassis re-design, and perhaps even an entirely different chassis design philosophy, may be required to make the ducati into a valentino-style bike, which is why I favour him more for 2012 rather than 2011. However I also think that valentino can adapt his riding to the bike if needed, although riding it in the way required to make it fast may involve dnfs even for him.

(EDIT) There is also an element of payback to you guys who have been criticising stoner's development ability fairly trenchantly. I see from a later post in this thread that alex briggs is saying the ducati needs at least a partial chassis re-design which I have bee saying all year and in fact had again said in this post.

It would be very interesting to see injury statistics comparing the 500's to the 800's.. The 500's were evil, but if you stayed within bounds, they were semi predictable. The 800's, with all the gadgetry, you never know when it might short circuit and throw you to the moon.Just off the top of my head, , Rossi Pedrosa, Depuniet,, , Melandri, Capirossi,Aoyama, and who knows who else have missed a race or races this year. Going back, Hopper, Lorenzo, add name as you think of them. The 800 has been a very dangerous machine, considering it was devised under the guise of safety.
