Valencia Tests 8-9 November 2011

okay, i was being a bit of a johnnyk saying he sucked, riding a duc to a podium means you can do your thing

but its the same as with guys like ianonne (so far), entertaining and unique,at times incredibly fast and exciting to watch but never consistent.

look at where elias (and for that matter also iannone) were in so many races, on a good package

and hey, forgive me if i'm a huge bradl fanboy and exaggurate things, but i firmly believe bradl was and is the better overall rider

Elias is fast - under certain conditions. He needs really strange tyres (I think it was softest front, hardest rear) to ride how he wants to. The Spec Tyre is not a solution to his strange style.

I think it's hard to conclude Bradl is better, but I don't really feel the need to try to prove that I'm right or you're wrong. I think the question will be answered definitively in the future in Marquez's favour, but we'll just have to wait and see. Bradl might be a 'late bloomer'. Both riders certainly haven't stopped improving.

Yes I would say Rossi is the lead rider and the rider most in contact with the engineers. 5-8 tenths won't get them in Honda territory but it's a start
Hawk, I am sure you mean "getting Rossi, Hayden, Abraham and Barbara comfortable on the bike" don't you? Or are you admitting that it is all just for Rossi and the others are just testers to make Rossi comfortable?

I hope for the Rossi fans sack that they are aiming at getting more then just 5-8 tenths as currently they are double that behind and Honda are saying that they have a long way to go. I would suggest that Ducati need 2 - 2.5 seconds improvement on a standard lap if they are going to be competitive.

How dare that marketing department get in the way. After all Ducati is not a commercial enterprise that is not trying to sell motorcycles are they. Really the only purpose for Ducati's existence is to make sure that Rossi is happy, doesn't have to change anything at all in regards to how he rides a bike or risk getting hurt.

I think a lot of people are being a bit premature RE the Ducati, Rossi is riding what is essentially a brand new bike. The Hondas and the Yamaha's are basically 800's with 1000 engines in them, much easier to go faster when its basically the same bike. Rossi is only 1.5secs off Pedrosa at the moment which aint that bad really...

Suzuki gets an extra liter? An I wonder what would happen if all 800cc bikes got even .5 liters more fuel. Would the factories lease them rather than scrap? Would Suzuki make enough power!

The Ducati has to come good in 2012, they are going to throw everything possible at it between now and Qatar....bet on it!

They got their ..... sandpapered this year and the Ducati brass don't like walking around with a chuffed cheeks. Preziosi admitted they screwed up 2011 by developing in the middle of the season. Preziosi has mentioned the Step 0 bike is setup the same as the GP11.46 or whatever they ended up calling it, so it only makes sense that it would behave in a similar fashion on day 1.

If Ducati end up changing the v angle of the motor, I just hope they make the same power as they do now, I still think the Ducati is the only bike on the grid that can match Honda for power. I think it’s a forgone conclusion that the angle changes because the L is a packaging nightmare.

So it’s all about Rossi and his input, yes it is….history shows the man develops a great machine for the masses to ride, so yes it blows that Hayden wasn’t able to give his input at this test, I still think the Italian opinion is all that matters at Ducati at the moment.

There are quite a few teams shown on the time sheets that I have never seen before (granted I have a limited perspective)...are these existing Moto2 and/or new teams all together that are making a bid to join GP in 2012 under the CRT classification?

Does anyone know the deal with the BQR Inmotec team. The team doesn't list an engine supplier, an unusual situation for a team who designed a prototype engine. Perhaps it is a rebranded production engine with extensive modification?

BQR and BQR Inmotec are unrelated teams. My understanding is that BQR (who run 125 and moto2 currently) are using a Kawasaki engined FTR, Hernandez riding. Inmotec seem to have their own chassis and engine, they are a team that was working towards a motogp entry previously.

i dont blame alvaro his stock dropped after RDP's performace on the suzuki yesterday.... he had to take the deal otherwise who knows RDP may of been signed instead.

Absolutely. Good post Pinks.

You guys are lot more informed than me about these things but do you think that part of the reason for relatively poor performance of the CRT bikes is due to them not having top riders on them?
