Yamaha Factory Racing can confirm that Silvano Galbusera will join the

Team from today in the position of Crew Chief for rider Valentino Rossi

for the 2014 MotoGP season.

The appointment follows the announcement that Jeremy Burgess would no

longer continue with Team following the Valencia Grand Prix weekend.

Silvano began his career in motorcycle racing in 1979 with Gilera,

spending 14 years working on both road racing in the 250cc world

championship with riders such as Alessandro Gramigni and Paolo Casoli

and also worked off road on African Rallies such as the Paris-Dakar with

Michele Rinaldi. He then moved to Cagiva in 1994 and worked in the

500cc world championship with John Kocinski.

The following year saw Silvano arrive in the Yamaha family where he

remained until 2011. During his time there he worked as both a Crew

Chief and Technical Director in World Superbike and World Supersport,

guiding riders including Troy Corser, Noriyuki Haga, Cal Crutchlow and

Ben Spies to multiple race wins and of course the 2009 World Superbike

Championship title. For 2012 and 2013 Silvano worked with Italian Marco

Melandri in BMW’s World Superbike team.

He once worked with 'Lil John then. That background in mental health nursing has to come in handy given the prospect of working alongside an ailing prima donna with an ego the size of the solar system.

Everybody did exactly what we expected them to do, no surprises, no controversy. We'll find something to argue about soon enough.

So Pete, what kind of oil do you put in your bike?

Putoline, is that a problem?

Ha! We used to get Putoline stickers, cut off the "line" and plaster our bikes with them...

Also used to modify the 'r' to an an 'n' in the blue Aral oil stickers. ..

Cal was whinging about his Brembos on the Tech 3. Poor ....... is getting none on the Duke. Then again, they just slow you down.

Pedro was the man of the match at Valencia. He did what he could to keep Lorenzo away from Marquez .... When he got almost taken out and Marky caught up to Lorenzo it only took one brake check from Lorenzo to remind Marky what was at stake.

There will be some big smiles under those helmets when the Moto2 graduates get to finally crack the throttle on a bike with some real horsepower.

Cool, getting to watch via my daughter's BT account online - good pic down a VPN from the other side of the earth. I don't have that good a broadband link, either. only 5MB at best - tested the link using speetest.net and was getting 3.85MB on the vpn.

The only thing I am missing is the timing screens from Motogp.com
