Silverstone Race Discussion (Spoiler Alert! You All)

Yes fully agree with you, but only time will tell what Pedrowill do but as you suggest I thing its time for a change as you have suggestedand then and only then we would see how good Pedro is and will be.

I've been following this wonderful sport for 37 years and I’veseen some great champions and some not so great like some have been in the lastcouple of decades where everything went their way and they have had the bestequipment and that is why and the only reason that they have won W/C's ..cometo think of it there are a few guys running around in the 2011 motogp seasonthat remind me of Spencer who was a classic example of this and never had toreally do the hard grind and hard work to achieve a real W/Cship!

But these guys are on knifes edge this season and as Lorenzosaid ‘now he’s the greyhound and Stoner is the rabbit’ so 2011 should be agreat season can’t wait for the rest of the gp’s!

Well, the race was very very wet with a few crashes...........

...........and yes, a lot of swapping of paint................my neighbour had 4 litres of dark cedar, I swapped for several cans of primer. We concluded the exchange on lap 11 during the commercial break. You should have been there............

Always happy to hear your opinions , even the anti-stoner stuff usually being informed and often humorous.

'chopperman’ you not bothering? Go ahead we dare you! cobber, It's not a matter of saying what you think It's a matter of saying it! Tadahhh Tadahhh Tadahhh!

Sorry Kev but don't act like you haven't insulted anyone on this forum. Theres plenty of that going on by you.

I agree that racecraft is important and thats why i said that Dovi did what he had to do and he was better on the brakes on this slipery race. I still believe if Sic would have made the first attempt stick he would have cleared him. The conditions played part as well and down he went. He fell on the brakes where the wet patch was at, same .... with Lorenzo. they were trying to out brake Dovi to get past on that same corner but it was not happening. Like Arrab said i also think he was holding back cause he didn't want to risk a move and take Dovi down with him....

There, that's much better. Of course I've insulted folks, but I like to wait let the other guy throw the first punch.

My original response to you was only playful, and not intended to offend. In any event, we both seem to agree

that Dovi's race strategy was superior that day. Thanks for listening.

How ironic that Lorenzo and Spies last year were 1[sup]st[/sup]and 3[sup]rd[/sup] at Silverstone and this year virtually on the same lap bothcrashed out without any points and furthermore Lorenzo said that hisSilverstone last year was the perfect race!

That isn't irony, thats just you being a ....

Cannot you not conceive of the idea that Dovi was perfectly capable of going faster, but resisting doing so in order to

avoid sharing the fate of Sasquatch and Lorenzo? He was riding the more tactically prudent race. Guys like you

never seem to grasp that racing isn't all about big hairy balls-out top speed. It's largely about racecraft; and Dovi clearly demonstrated more of that than Simoncelli - because he managed to keep the shiny side up.

So ....... what if Simoncelli was faster at that stage? How much good did it do him? Get it??? Did you not watch the race at Laguna

where Stoner was miles away faster than Rossi, only to be bested by a slower Rossi, because Rossi had fantastic racecraft?

Agree completely, Rossi was the fastest man on the track in Jerez but he ended up looking the ..... while slower riders (at that point) took the glory.

Dovi rode brilliantly on Sunday, probably one of his best motogp performances to date. Trouble is it probably wont be enough to keep his job

I am not sure finishing 15 seconds behind your teammate can really be described as "rode brilliantly". But on the other hand Dovi is doing a good job this year, third in the championship on 83 points. For comparison: Simoncelli is currently 11th on 32 points.

Thats something I have been wondering about ...... why all the hype from the Italian press? Why don't they hype up Dovi ...... he's far better.

And the Brit Rossifans, they are defecting to Simo ....... if he gives them the slightest provocation, and yet Dovi would be a better bet

Simoncelli is more sensational both in his behavior and his appearance - therefore he is easy to sell to the unwashed masses.

He's the Amy Winehouse of MGP and there's nothing the news-hungry phillistines love more than a good train wreck. That

he is a former 250 champ of course doesn't hurt. Dovi is too much the unremarkable nice guy, and in fairness, doesn't

seem to quite have the fire in the belly that Simoncelli has.

This is what I'd disagree with .... to the point of:

83 v's 32

or

3rd v's 11th

wheres the "fire in the belly?"

I haven't scoured the stats; so I won't go there. Anyhoo... we're talking about the press and with them and their readers

it's all about perception. Former world champion with clownish features and giant afro doing the whole enfant terrible act, while destroying zillions of dollars of HRC equipment - is just more "newsworthy". In any event, if and when Simoncelli calms down and stops crashing, he's going

to be a force to reckoned with.

not one person has said "boring" race yet... lol

Well - here goes:

Great ride by Stoner - it must have been really lonely until he started to lap back markers - lack of blue flags had me nervous

Simo did what is expected of him

Lollo did what we've been waiting for since he's pushing the Yam more than ever before to chase the Hondas

Don't know what's going on with Spies

Highlight was CS, good for him, but it was hardly epic racing

Entertainment content of the race - well this is what happened - I watched and recorded the MotoGP race on Speed - then I did the same with WSBK at Misano - in race 2 at Misano my set top box gave me an "insufficient space available" message - I quickly deleted Silverstone and continued to record the WSBK fight

My deary me!! no you didn't did you !!?? oh my !! imagine that

You know what ...... if I look at that it alsmost looks like you find WSBK more interesting!!

does anyone have the spies wreck they didnt show it. Wanted to see how he hit the wall. He says he's ok.

that race was pretty boring other than the offs. Im kinda glad to see Lorenzo go down, he had strung a lot of races together with out any offs, so in the wet....not bad.

Bummer for hairball. Stay on the dam bike!!!!!!!!!!!

I think next year for Honda (factory) they should have:

Stoner

hairball

that's it, they dont need anyone else. Pedrobot can go to Suzuki.

Hah Spies down wasn’t caught on cam just his wrecked bike that didn’t look a pretty picture just like Lorenzo’s, in as far as Pedro on a Suzuki that is funny the guy is going to be a total wreck if he gets on that thing and rides it like the Honda! Yeah Hairball is a laugh typical Italian temperament does things yesterday and with passion and determination no matter what!

I think pedro would do well for Suzuki. Honda should be smiling with stoner, and hairball he just needs to "grow up", I think the boy will be very fast and win once he glue's his ... to the seat. Anyone wanna chip in on some Liquid Nail for hairball?

Well i think being the second best rider on the day, when he usually isn't at that level, staying on in conditions that caught out the very best would qualify for a brilliant ride. Obviously Stoner was different class but Dovi beat some serious competition without any fuss.

And yore being a bigger .... for calling me a ....
<
:toot: and that is just putting it nicely to you! and where is your mate Jerry?

Well i shouldn't really be name calling you are right. But your comments showed that you clearly do not understand irony and that you have obviously taken pleasure in the accidents of the works Yamaha riders.
