Silverstone Race Discussion (Spoiler Alert! You All)

Stoner masterclass - that was nothing to do with the bike, cutting laps 20 seconds lower than qualifying in a puddle disguised as a racetrack is all rider.

Dovi - Did what he had to do if there were team orders, got himself between Lozenzo and Stoner and frustrated hell out of him

Colin Edwards - balls like church bells

Nicki - great ride

Everyone else who stayed up, great ride, sensible ride.

Lorenzo, that moment when you saw one rider between you and the championship lead and you went for it - rush of blood.

Simo - yes you can ride but you have to finish occasionally - thee may be some award for number of laps in the lead or top 3 without ever having scored points - all wrapped up buddy, it's yours, some guy has a mickey mouse watch for sale on this forum, we'll pool (great choice of words considering the race conditions) and buy it for you. We'll throw it against the crash barrier 17 times so you get the concept.

Vale - sensible ride - the bike was your enemy and your brain was your friend - clocking points until the .... is sorted is kinda zen.

Whilst the racing as such was on an off the suspense had me hanging on the edge of my seat, I nearly spilled my shiraz a number of times

Excellent ride from Stoner in extreme weather conditions, great ride from Colin and Nicky today and uncharacteristic mistake from Lorenzo and simo really needs calm himself down and try to finish few races.

Poor show from Vale today, finishing some 35 seconds behind Hayden is just not acceptable at this stage of the season. I hope he can come back stronger in next race.

Are you talking about me you weak as piss ........ loser. I've already given credit where it is due. If you were Australian, you wouldn't be making excuses for being overseas in a ....... hole. .....

Calm down keyboard warrior, jebus. . . .

Stoner lapped riders in the race, only 12 finishers, bloody hell motogp is in dire straits, track condition's were ...., heaps off standing water makes you if the race should off even gone ahead? Edwards post race interview, that bloke is a deadset legend.

Stoner killed it today. The guy was awesome. It was so wet, then it was windy, then it was cold, then it rained again. It was a fckin nightmare. Anyone who finished deserves some props.

???

Stoner is the man, this is looking really good.

I honestly thought he would have trouble getting the lead back after the bowling disaster at Jerez. Really really glad i was so wrong.

I'm ....... ashamed of being part Spanish btw, that was a pitifull performance by the Jerez circuit crew. Spanish commentators still go back in time and say they don't see what the cheifs did wrong.
<
. WTF?

Thanks god i have Aussie blood in me.

I see Vale's Duke is doing GREAT
<
If it wasn't for DNF's and Pedro crying in bed he would of finished 10th.

I have an awesome feeling like as if everything was now in place. I love it.

Y'know... it would ride itself like it did the last 4 seasons but Vale is just too proud to let it.

Stoner great race bud. I don't mind Sic trying to pass Dovi. Dovi was slower smarter I would have like sic to try and catch up with stoner but dovi had them beat on the brakes.

Fixed it for you. (Never gets old - right?)

Good news on Ben.

Ben Spies said he was relieved not to suffer any serious injuries in his Silverstone crash, having been given a clean bill of health following medical checks.

The American fell at Abbey while running sixth in the extremely wet British Grand Prix today.

He was taken to the medical centre for checks having reported back and neck pain, but scans showed no damage.

"The track was really wet, when I hit the brakes going into turn one the front just dropped away and I hit the wall before I knew it," Spies said.

"I hit my back pretty badly, my back protector is really busted up, but it did its job."

He admitted he was in discomfort at present, but has no concerns about his fitness for the next grand prix in the Netherlands in a fortnight.

"I'm really sore and will probably need a big cushion for a few days but I'm happy it wasn't worse," said Spies.

"We'll take a few days to relax and recover then come back fighting at Assen."

Just watched it there...

Stoner, awesome ride! This guy has world champion written all over him...

Dovi, kept it cool and got it home.

Edwards, you are a legend!

Rossi, did pretty well i thought considering the pace he'd been running all weekend

As for Simo, i dont think its fair to slag him off, it was clearly a complete lottery for everyone (except Casey, he doesn't play lotto), Mr consistency himself binned it in exactly the same place. Simo does need results though otherwise he wont be riding a factory Honda next yr...

not seen the race yet guys so will give my review later.....

any swapping of paint?

Well well well. Stoner OWNED this one. I don't see him losing that championship lead again this year.

Dovi did a superb job, Marco and Lorenzo were all over him with pressure and Dovi didn't make a mistake, didn't rush his own pace when they were clearly faster and stayed on when they got caught out by the conditions. Well played. Colin had an excellent ride and i think everyone was pleased to see him get a decent result. Rossi did well to stay on and make steady progress, even if his result was unspectacular.

I was really surprised this weekend at how popular Simoncelli was, but i was pleased to see it because i am a bit of a fan too. I was also very happy to see the crowd appreciating Stoner's win at the end of the race after the things that the UK fans have done before, i guess you can only admire a ride like that. Having said that, the negativity has clearly been transfered to Lorenzo (you can work out why for yourselves), who was surprisingly unpopular i am ashamed to say. He had a noticable amount of fans around but far too many unsporting and in my view unwelcome attitudes.

After 2 of the top 4 crashed out the race was a little un-exciting, but in those conditioned always remains tense and down right incredible to watch the guys who get it done.

Why are you assuming that they are Rossi fans? Could be Stoner fans as well.

Arrab's only mention to Rossi was using a comparison at the treatment handed out to a rider whom had beaten Valentino and nowhere in Arrab's post does he say 'Rossi' boppers or fans, it is you who drew the connection (if there was to be one).

Arrab merely expressed disgust at the fact that people attending a race meeting cheered the fall of a competitor.

Well, the race was very very wet with a few crashes...........

...........and yes, a lot of swapping of paint................my neighbour had 4 litres of dark cedar, I swapped for several cans of primer. We concluded the exchange on lap 11 during the commercial break. You should have been there............

Get real
<

Have you ever heard a Stoner fan booing another competitor? No.

Its just plain not done. Thats why there are NEVER complaints of Stoner fans doing it.

<

Edit: anyway are there even enough Stoner fans to make an audible boo even above say 1 busload of folks, let alone a grandstand

Dovi was slower, Sic caught up to him 2 times einstein. Sic was looking for a way to pass but like i said dovi had him beat on the breaks. It looked diff to probably judge the braking with all the water being spat on the visor. Anyways Dovi did what he had to do, No blame on him.

Great race, and congratulations to Brad Smith.

Imagine if he qualified better..............Reading as well...........top stuff.

Bradl is bloody good. well controlled race. Moto2 championship this year........no doubt.

Moto main was exceptional riding by Stoner..........but a yawn as far as being anysort of contest went.

Good to see Rossi's personal tester had a good day
<
<
Good ride Nicky. (personal tester...
<
)

The interview we got here with Pedrobot..........ok..........he want's to be fit...........but...............man, Edwards ( I don't care if he is a has been/ never will be) and Crutchlow just getting back on and wanting to ride ( like Doohan with his leg) was insperational.

Edwards Collar bone is busted in 5 places.......and he rode to (yes I know Simo and HeHaw fell off.........but hey, you got to stay on to get a result !) a great podium.......all things considered.

Crutchlow was just gutted they wouldn't let him ride................but he will be back for Assen next week.

All Danny did was a TV interview saying that Simoncelli should get a longer, more severe punishment.

I think getting on the bike, riding to any place you can get is going to do your championship placing a whole lot more than sitting and whining about Simoncelli.........regardless of who is right or wrong.

Sitting back, not riding.........when your teamate is winning.......won't do you any favours with sponsors and HRC..............

Assen should be good.

Dovi was visibly later on the brakes, which in essence made him faster. Sic was on the razors edge and Dovi only rode the edge when he needed to. Im sure Sic had that flogging bag in the back of his mind and didnt want to add Dovi's picture to it.In the end, he still went down unassisted. His bike bill must be getting awfully high about now.
