Silly Season 2018

https://www.reddit.com/r/motogp/comments/8m1rot/zarco_rossi_didnt_block_me_at_yamaha_article_in/
From the horses mouth...
Yamaha didn't propose me anything for the future. I thought I would've had contats at the end of 2017, but it wasn't the case. There were rumors saying Valentino may have blocked me, but I didn't think so. I respect Vale to much to think so and I know that even if he's important inside Yamaha, the Japanese are the one who decide. So, no one close the road to Iwata for me. It's just that Yamaha wanted to work with Vale and Vinales and plan the future with them.

Shhhh don’t present facts to the mouthbreathing brigade! Their little hamster brains are gonna go up in flames!

So a large amount think JLo is on his way back to Yamaha, now I'm not 100% sure about that as Rossi knows that JLo is a better rider than him now, he has allegedly stopped Yamaha giving Zarco a factory bike and I imagine he would do the same to Jlo. Also can you imagine that Jlo on a satellite bike offering the official team any feedback to assist Rossi? No I can't either!

If Lorenzo is on a satellite bike, Rossi's influence would be nil. It's ultimately a Yamaha decision, not something that Rossi or Jarvis could influence.

Even older spec bikes provide valuable data such as tyre wear etc. which the factory teams can then compare to the current spec bikes.

Redding said last year that he would rather kill himself than go to WSBK.
So I am guessing it will be Moto2 for him.

I didn't know that Repsol were talking to Rea. Would be great to see him in MotoGP and on a good bike. He said previously that he didn't want to make the switch without a top ride, a Repsol Honda RCV fits that bill perfectly.

He has done nothing to deserve a Repsol factory ride . Being a multiple champion in a watered down series like WSBK does not gurantee a top ride in GP. If he can’t take a top satellite ride to prove himself, .... em, let him play in kids pool the rest of his career.

I was the Trumpian Rossi haters that made up the Zarco block by Rossi story....

You did notice he said “ I don’t think Rossi blocked me”
That’s not the same as “Rossi did not block me”. Like I said, Zarco knows that a pissing contest with Rossi is counter productive, especially with his eye on Rossi’s seat in 2021. He took the KTM money as a layover after Rossi urged Yamaha not to offer him a factory backed ride. I guess His agent was just making .... up and if that were the case I would have fired his ... that day. This is damage control, if you can’t read between the lines to see that , you need to clean those yellow goggles.

Backroom deals to keep a Ducati failure didn't all the Rossi haters shout from the roof tops that it was unfair and that he didn't deserve it and he should retire. Blah blah .... Where is anger from those same one trick ponies of such a move for JLo by Dorna?

If Dorna was making moves to get him back on the factory Yamaha at the expense of another rider ,I would guess you would hear all kinds of bitching and moaning. That’s not the case here.

Yes but that was for rossi, hes not a current top rider in his prime. Lorenzo is a current top rider who would compete with Marquez if on the Yam.

And ....

rossi sucks.

JLo isnt a top rider anymore....his points and recent performance is evidence of that....Hell right now even Miller would be considered a Top rider in his prime vs JLo....And really right now NO rider on the grid can compete with MM on any bike....

Overall you are okay with Dorna helping riders to stay in the championship so long as it is not Rossi....even when the rider are on their natural way out of the championship like JLo

I also dont think that even if Casey came back that he could beat MM on the same bike or on the Ducati....

Stoner is 32, and if he came back would be 33, and however talented he once was couldn’t possibly compete over a season with a 26 year old MM after7 years of retirement. Still wouldn’t mind seeing him wild card on a Ducati or factory Honda at PI though.

JLo is in a distinctly similar situation to Rossi’s at the end of 2012, and I can’t see that it would be much different for him than it was for Rossi then, particularly since he still shows one lap pace on the Ducati but can’t make the tires last, and I suspect a bike which suits Zarco’s riding style would suit his, particularly since Zarco has actually said he himself is emulating Jorge.

You guys can never see almost exact parallels between Rossi and others, just as the parallel between Jerez 2011 and Argentina 2018, which even went down to the post race apology or attempted apology, seemed to elude you.

You have a point in regard to those who think Rossi shouldn’t have got the seat back at Yamaha in 2013; I would have taken him every day of the week and twice in Sundays back then. That is rather different than taking him over Zarco this year, Jorge last year if you think as I do Jorge was no longer welcome at Yamaha, or giving him priority over Vinales for that matter after Vinales’ start last year.

Not really following the whole conversation due to not having time, so I apologize if the below has been already written. Noting too juicy but a little recap and some speculations on rumors that are around people who work in the paddock.

Friends, friends of friends, as well as a bird earlier, told me the following:

- Mir already signed with Suzuki.
- Redding is leaving Aprilia as soon as the season is over.
- Iannone, left by Suzuki, will take Redding's seat on the Aprilia.
- Marc VDS could be closing down for good at the end of the year. (VR46 MotoGP then?)
- Ducati will not re-sign Jorge, who might start an own private Yamaha Team if he wants to race. This sounds crazy but could be his only way to keep racing in motoGP as his economical demands blocked Suzuki from hiring him, and all the other seats are now almost taken.
-HRC is a bit messy. They want to leave Pedrosa but the name of an hypothetical substitute is still extremely unclear, as well as Dani's hypothetical destination, some speculated he might end up on a KTM Tech3 given the Red Bull support.

Again I am not saying any of this is true, I am only saying that these are the rumors around.

Here is a good summary for you....

Still clueless as ever.

More than 2 current spec bikes being run allows for more data collection for the teams. If Pramac is running 2 GP17's, it does nothing for GP18 data collection. Ditto on the RCV.

First, you make the arrogant assumption that a person having a single question about something makes that person ignorant about everything

Secondly, it was an honest question. Why the need to be ....? Why the need to fuel yet another flame war over simple question? Go get laid, take an anger management class or take a Valium, instead of ruining yet another thread by infusing it with with your bitterness.

Satellite bikes are only going to collect the same general data as the factory bikes. Moreover the data they collect is specific to the individual riders, their riding styles, seat positions, fairing specs, suspension settings, tire choices, etc., all of which is colored by the differences between year models, which to a reasonable mind, would not appear to have that much value; case in point, look at how the factory Yamahas are flailing away whilst Zarco makes them look like crap. If one assumes (and I don't) that there is an agreement to share data between two competing teams, it doesn't appear to have helped the factory team.

My question was simply, is there in fact such an agreement? If you can't reply without losing your ...., then step aside and let some less labile person answer.
