Silly Season 2018

Credit to Dorna then.

Just as was the case with Valentino, the last note for a multiple world champion such as Jorge shouldn’t be as a failure with Ducati imo.

Backroom deals to keep a Ducati failure didn't all the Rossi haters shout from the roof tops that it was unfair and that he didn't deserve it and he should retire. Blah blah .... Where is anger from those same one trick ponies of such a move for JLo by Dorna?

If that is factor then JLo should be doing much much better than Rossi on the Ducati....but Jlos youth does not seem to be helping his current performance ...

To say nothing of the fact Lorenzo is riding a far superior iteration.

Is Dorna orchestrating this for Lorenzo...?

I'd like a link.

MotoGP: Divorzio Jorge Lorenzo, Ducati sta facendo un regalo alla Yamaha ? Corsedimoto

This is in Italian but when you Google translate it says something along the lines that Carmelo doesn’t want and can’t lose a rider of Jorge’s caliber. I’m sure Italian speaking fellow members could chime in. This is the translation I got:

- "Jorge Lorenzo is likely to remain on foot". Nonsense. The Mallorcan will not only continue to run, but will return to the Yamaha with which he won three (not one: three ...) MotoGP World Championships. To put it back in a position to fight for the title, the "strong powers" are moving: Dorna, first of all. The reason is simple: Lorenzo is not alone (hand palmares ...) the anti-Marquez, but he is also one of the most mediatic drivers of the moment. One of those champions you love or hate, which in any case never leave you indifferent. The boss of the World Championship, Carmelo Ezpeleta, does not want and can not lose a rider of this thickness. This is why he took the situation directly into his hands.
CASTAGNE - By putting Jorge at the door, Ducati is doing a great assist to Yamaha, which draws the only driver with whom he won the World Cup in the last decade by remitting the self-possession made to escape Johann Zarco. With Valentino Rossi at the age of 40 and a Maverick Vinales dry with victories for over twelve months, Yamaha ran the risk of not having aces to play on the 2019 table. With the return of Jorge Lorenzo will have it. Thanks, Ducati ...”

Not sure of the credibility of the source.....

Well it's definitely within the realm of possibility.

Still have to wonder about Lorenzo's thinking abilities. I thought the initial Ducati move was a bad idea. Not signing with Suzuki is another bad move. Being left out for the Ducati 2nd seat because he was blathering about wanting to focus on doing well was idiotic. Not saying he should stay at Ducati...he shouldn't because he clearly is incapable of riding the bike how it needs to be. Suzuki made a lot more sense given his riding style.

Relying on what is currently a 3rd magical Yamaha seat to appear is because he boxed himself into a corner of his own doing.

Whoever is advising him assuming he has that is giving some ....... godawful advice.

I am just going on what people have said about the article under discussion, which I thought was clear.

Perhaps we should wait till something actually eventuates with Jorge before condemning people's attitude to it, but I myself said at the time and repetitively since that Rossi was clearly the best available rider for that seat in 2013. It actually would have been politics which kept him out of it, him having dumped on Yamaha when he left, whether he would interfere with Jorge etc, etc. Dovi hadn't demonstrated he was any more than a journeyman then, and Rossi's competition was basically Pol Espargaro, hardly a rider to bet your future on if something went awry with Jorge. I also thought Valentino might have something to offer developmentally, but that doesn't seem to have proved out, and perhaps this has always been down to the engineers, at Yamaha as well as Honda, and Furusawa was the guy who really mattered in that regard.

Someone has posted elsewhere that Jorge has appalling judgement, is poorly advised, or both. I agree, while I think he was in the right in 2015 calling for Rossi to be suspended hardly endeared him to Yamaha, and after they had basically bet the farm on him as their future over their icon in Rossi in 2010 subsequent dalliances with other teams even if only to inflate his contract were really stupid, particularly given he subsequently has said he wanted to be a Yamaha guy for life.

I don’t think he had an option to go to suzuki. Reports say it was out of Brivio’s hands and senior management in Japan wanted to make Rins the experienced rider and get Mir in as the talented young blood.

Not something I am completely convinced of, but they have done worse, like replacing both riders and then expecting two new guys to pick the right engine and chassis.

So a large amount think JLo is on his way back to Yamaha, now I'm not 100% sure about that as Rossi knows that JLo is a better rider than him now, he has allegedly stopped Yamaha giving Zarco a factory bike and I imagine he would do the same to Jlo. Also can you imagine that Jlo on a satellite bike offering the official team any feedback to assist Rossi? No I can't either!

From the horses mouth...
Yamaha didn't propose me anything for the future. I thought I would've had contats at the end of 2017, but it wasn't the case. There were rumors saying Valentino may have blocked me, but I didn't think so. I respect Vale to much to think so and I know that even if he's important inside Yamaha, the Japanese are the one who decide. So, no one close the road to Iwata for me. It's just that Yamaha wanted to work with Vale and Vinales and plan the future with them.
