Nothing of the sort has been said about Iannone.

An announcement is possible at Catalunya, but no news sites have reported anything otherwise. Kropo thinks Dovizioso will be staying at Ducati.
Listened to it again. Had the computer out in the living room to do some work and no speakers hooked up; just sound coming from the tinny internal CPU speaker on the Mac Mini. Actually he confirmed it would be Dovi as Lorenzo's teammate.

You mean Lorenzo right? If not then that's the first I've heard of Dovi going to Yam!

I wonder if Ducati will place Redding with Lorenzo? Would be great to see him have a crack with factory support.

Nick Harris said this morning that Dovi was staying and Iannnone was out. So unless he's totally talking out of his ass...

I noticed during Vinale's post race interview that he couldn't help looking over his shoulder at the two Yamaha's.

Kropo said earlier in the week he expected Dovi to stay. We'll see if anything changes between now and Catalunya. Probably waiting till then to announce so as to let the guys run their home GP without being under a microscope after the decision comes out.

Now listen, I admit I have not been a fan of Dovi because I think he gets hyped up unnecessarily and is not a number 1 rider. But in terms of a 2nd rider in a team, he's a very good choice. Either way for continuity's sake, you need to keep one of the riders there, and keeping him would confirm that while Iannone has plenty of speed, he must not be terribly valuable comparatively speaking in the feedback department.

Lorenzo and Dovi is a solid lineup. Unfortunately, I don't see Lorenzo winning any title.

It bears saying that Dovi had three DNFs this year - through no fault of his own and would most likely be at least 3rd in the points if not for those incidents. I reckon the fact that he seems relatively undaunted and shows no sign of giving a lesser effort, following an awful string of bad luck shows he's got fire in the belly character that makes him a contender for 3rd in the championship given the unpredictability of results thus far when you calculate the Michelin Attrition Factor. So far all the top riders have fallen while in the lead three spots. I wouldn't discount repeats. I said it before, this is going to be an erratic season what with the unreliable Michelin fronts. Whilst on the Ducati - he certainly doesn't appear the equal of the top three scorers thus far - but he's been much faster and a greater challenger than Dani, and after all Ducati only needs one guy to win, and it's a safe bet, their money will be on Lorenzo next year.

I'd venture a guess that Iannone sealed his fate in Argentina when he didn't even bother to try and get his bike running again while Dovi did everything he could to get that bike across the line. Even the Pedropedo at COTA, most guys would have been screaming to the media afterwards, and he handled that far better than anyone else would have...and he could have been forgiven for a bad reaction, yet he never reacted poorly. I think that makes him a better pairing for Lorenzo.

Dani to yama and Iannone to repsol would be interesting. I think suzuki should keep both of their riders.

Heres some politically correct information.

Jorge Lorenzo Tells Us Why He Left Yamaha For Ducati | MOTORCYCLIST

Vinales equal #1 rider beside Rossi next year? Yeah right.
That "article" is complete ......... Kropos, it's this kind of crap that makes your job difficult. That thing read like from the desk of Lin Jarvis' PR team transcript. That dude that put his name to this piece is a bonafided 'Message Disseminator'. The .... is all three-quarters of a million petitioners will eat this up as "gospel" (to borrow a quip from Daniboy).

"Jarvis felt that he made the best proposal possible that Yamaha could make. He saw Lorenzo leaving involved three major factors – money, a competitive bike and being top dog instead of sharing that status with another rider, a.k.a. Rossi."

I would say these three reasons were not even in the equation. Money? A competitive bike? Wait, isn't the M1 the best? Equal status? Wait, isn't that supposedly what Yamaha provides? Except the canceling celebrations for their world champ part! Equal status? Well then surely if Yamaha ever win a championship again we can all rest assured they will cancel the celebrations, you know, to treat their riders equal and fairly! Is this guy who put his name to this ........ article seriously thinking people who can dicern are buying this ....? I'd say no, but it wasn't for the 1% consumption, clearly this PR piece is for the 99%. So they can go on hating Lorenzo.

Lin Jarvis is a hack. Shameful piece of "journalist" ........ by whoever the hell is Andrea Wilson PR Enterprises LLC.

An update on the silly season by Krops:
Nice write up. This bit had me rolling.

"The most logical explanation is that sources inside Yamaha leaked the link up with Pedrosa, as a way to force Viñales into making a decision. When the prettiest girl in the room asks you to dance, it is unwise to dillydally, and a public flirtation with Pedrosa may have been Yamaha's way of forcing Viñales to make up his mind.

But it could also have been a ploy by Suzuki, to try to persuade Viñales to stay with them for next year, by giving the Spaniard the impression that he was not necessarily Yamaha's first choice. It could have been a bargaining chip by people close to Dani Pedrosa, to make HRC more aware of the Spanish veteran's value to the Repsol Honda team. It could even have been Dorna getting involved, wanting either Viñales to stay at Suzuki to fulfill the fairytale, or Suzuki to go to Yamaha to add a fifth potential winner to the line up of MotoGP victors."

Also: Suzuki have an option to keep Viñalez but won't? Ok, I see the "rationale" but was that in a contract Viñalez agreed to? Isn't that what contracts are for? So what if it makes him uncomfortable. Keep him the year then he can renegotiate the next contract to terms he likes. What's the point of putting this 'option' in contracts if a rider can then turn around and say, oh well, .... you I'm out. Why isn't Viñalez being criticized for not being a man of his word, and saying, 'hey I signed this contract to stay with Suzuki another year if iscored a podium, I did, and so now I intend to keep my word?' Nobody cares about this? Is character worth nothing in GP? Looks like Viñalez has .... on a contract agreement...again!

Speaking of contract breakers...

Also: Crutchlow is close to extending with LCR? Why!? I don't get why they wouldn't just take a chance on someone else like VDmark, or JRea, or someone that could be a revelation. I'm being serious. Is there a reason LCR has 'incentive' to keep Crutchlow? Ok, he can be fast on his day, but he crashes more times than not. If Crutchlow was along side VDMark in Wsbk, would he be beating the young lad? I doubt it.

Going to be interesting to see what the Suzuki situation looks like.

If they are smart they'll sign Iannone as he is far faster than Vinales imo. If they can get that engine power squared away some more, that's going to be a great bike. I'd probably pair him with Aleix for one more year just to try and develop that bike further, and then see if you can sign Rins for 2018. Or...supply a satellite bike to a new team specifically for Rins to prepare him for a 2018 factory ride. I know he was deadset on only being in a factory team, but he isn't going to get that now unless they want to roll the dice on him for 2017. Suzuki was on the fence about supplying a satellite bike(s) but this would be a great way to do it. Rins would be at their mercy since is it better to ride around in Moto2 for another year, or to start riding an actual GP machine? It gets him learning how to handle the bikes for a year instead of wasting a year on a factory bike trying to learn this stuff. Then he parachutes in for 2018 alongside Iannone for a possible hell of a 1-2 punch.
