Look at the harmony in this picture. Stoner and the crowd clapping while Rossi is waiving at them, and some angree Yamaha guy (looks like Lorenzo's brother) destroy the peace by throwing someting (?) at the passing Rossi?

I obviously have missed this, but where has this come from....i cba to trawl back over so many pages of forum threads to find anything.

It seems a bit mellodramatic to me.

Oh and in response to something else.....constantly using the word deliberately reckless is stupid.

You have to consider where rossi was placed in relation to his starting place.

I just think you old women need to chill out on this....its pure soap opera
<

OK, it was a deliberate move which was reckless
<
.

As far as stoner being at fault, I am referring as you well know to attempts to make stoner's post race comment and/or trackside waving the issue rather than stoner actually being taken out by a reckless error.

Since you are a semanticist, perhaps you can point out to me the semantic difference between two recent statements.

One V. Rossi regarding casey stoner. "I give him 10/10 for talent and speed, but he is a madman" (paraphrase from memory, I am not capable of searching the gpone archive in italian).

Casey stoner to valentino rossi. "your ambition exceeded your talent".

The only difference I can see is context, with the latter statement being made after stoner was taken out by rossi, and having narrowly avoided being take out by an out of control rossi on a previous occasion and only through his own evasive action, whereas stoner has never even come close to taking out rossi.

Well done here Mike. (though I warn you, debating Rob will get you as far as debating block of granite)

Yes, indeed, for all those Boppers grandstanding that Stoner's reply to Rossi during his "apology" was ungracious, considering he had just been take out and risked serious injury, it sure seems mild in comparison to Rossi, sitting around in some comfy seat, relaxed, and not winded from just being torpedoed, but rather simply thinking of digs to dream up to get under Stoner's and other rivals skin. What the hell was the purpose of such talk anyway? To give a true assessment of his rivals? So part of this was to say Stoner is “mad” and everybody knows “Lorenzo is unpleasant”? Talk about ungracious. (And you didn't even mention the hate-mongering message he put out about Lorenzo, which spawned an actual "I hate Lorenzo" anti-fan page. )

You know, it would be easy enough to see who here have denounced Stoner for his comments (though logically and technically Stoner’s comment was absolutely correct, of which I challenge anybody to refute). Though it would be time consuming and of little to no value; but I'd like to ask all those that feel Stoner's comments were ungracious to please immediately denounce Rossi's comments sited here which were ungracious at best and insolent at worst.

I'll start counting...

I wasn't even all that upset by rossi's statement, just pointing out that the 2 statements are substantively identical.

I have no issues with Stoner's comments. It was in the same league as Rossi's comment on Jorge - "I wouldn't call him smart. Smart is a big word"

Someone in the media should ask Stoner and Lorenzo to rate out of ten Rossis performance so far on the Ducati....I think a journo has already given him a 4/10 mark which got right up Rossis nose apparently....after the Jerez incident he would be lucky to score better than that.

Get off the soapbox already, you hater. While I only watched the race on Standard Definition, it was clear even to me that it was a tyre malfunction.

I wasn't even all that upset by rossi's statement, just pointing out that the 2 statements are substantively identical.

Rossi and stoners comments were not the same....

The madman statement was probably a nod at stoners ability to chuck the ducati around.

Stoners ambition/talent comment although in a way justified through his emotions of the day, still lacked class as it was nothing more than a direct major insult.

Its like you cant pick at people for defending rossi over the mistake, because next to nobody has......so its moved on to picking at the justified response to the idiotic comments from stoner.

Do you seriously expect everyone to appreciate those comments from stoner? if you do then your not on this planet.

Its disrespectful to the extreme....like i say personally i dont care because he was angry at the time, it was just lacking a little class in my eyes.

As a one time winner you dont come out with that kind silly comment to someone who has nine titles. Forgetting the disrespect thing, and simply given rossi's record it was the comment of an ......

Shame because i was warming to stoner...and did geniunely feel sorry for him before that.

In fact i will go as far as saying i would be disgusted him saying that to anyone on the track, never mind the one person who it simply isnt befitting.

Of course i just watched laguna 2008 again last night.......so its all the more laughable to me.

Ren, a part of me laughs at all the comments all around because they are all taking digs at eachother. Rossi's comments on Lorenzo are actually pretty hilarious. But I just think that if we're gonna hang Stoner for saying something technically correct, lets hang them all, eh.
<

Check out Rob's take above, He's spun Rossi's comments into a compliment for Stoner.
<
Then grandstanding how Stoner's comments were so "disrespectful to the extremem". Wow. And he's tried to chastise people for being "dramatic"? Geez, this guy of all the crazies (and we got a bunch here) is the championship leader of crazy!

I think it is also funny that in the picture I posted, a lot of spectators are standing in front of the fence that is suppose to protect them from flying objects and prevent them from going onto the track. I find it strange- what will happen if some loon will decide to jump on the track like they do in football games sometimes? Pretty bad organization if you ask me.

You obviously have never seen Jerez 1996 race.....that was some crazy ....!

I presume it's the same in the rest of europe but quite often if we call someone "mad" or a "nutter" in the uk it is a compliment of sorts. Its like saying wow your brave or damn i would try that. If you read the context in which rossi called casey mad i believe that's how it was ment. Caseys comment's were a direct insult which under the circumstances are quite understandable but quite ironic as well.

Disagree buddy, If u look at the context as u say, Rossi mentions he (Stoner) makes same mistakes over and over. Compliment? Bit of a stretch. Seems he well called Stoner stupid. But hey, im not Euro, and im not sure, but was original in Italian? Mayb thats how they compliment eachother in Italy; "hey man ur insane cuz u keep making the same mistakes...". "Ah Grazie!"

Have you got a direct quote? All ive read is something along the lines of " caseys really fast, he's mad". Think the only place ive read about it was here on ps so some text may have been missing.
